View Full Version : Bottle Bank Confessions....
Dolores 31-10-2004, 05:50 PM ... you always get at least one down at the bottle bank emptying out loads and loads of bottles and they just feel they have to explain why they've got so many!
"told gran she should lay off the booze"
"they're not mine I'm dropping them off for a friend"
"it's not wine bottles, it's sauce jars"
why do people feel the need to explain themselves at the bottle bank to complete strangers?!
By the way I dropped off 12 wine bottles.... not sure how I accumulated so many in such a short space of time, but I wasn't going to explain myself to the crusty wino who was just dropping off sauce jars!
Do you feel the need to explain you offloading of bottles?
Andrea 31-10-2004, 05:52 PM Nah, why should I tell everyone else my business.
I just drive to the bottle bank, open the boot and get out the two bin liners full of bottles and deposit in the required coloured bins :D
Marmoset 31-10-2004, 06:07 PM Well, I once asked where the Red and Rose banks were!:Drinking:
M
Marmoset..that cat is so gorgeous.
Never been to abottle bank.
Should tho...got bloody loads
Do you feel the need to explain you offloading of bottles?
No way!!!
I do recycle all my glass but I must admit most of my bottles are beer bottle - well I do like a nice cold bud or two with my dinner :D
Coastie 31-10-2004, 07:11 PM I never explain why I have so many wine bottles for the bank....basically because I figure that most people with an ounce of common sense would know that you only visit the bottle bank when you've collected enough bottles to make it worth the trip!
Although Dol......I have noticed that you spend rather alot of time at the bottle bank disposing of your empties....it's okay though you don't have to explain...I understand you're helping out all your elderly neighbours by depositing their wine bottles too aren't you.... ;)
Groucho 31-10-2004, 09:16 PM ...
By the way I dropped off 12 wine bottles....
Do you feel the need to explain you offloading of bottles?
No way Dol,especially not when you're down there twice a week!
karenh 01-11-2004, 04:44 PM No, I never explain the volume of bottles I am chucking. I do it at 2:30am when there is no-one else around so that they won't know what a lush I am..... :)
On a mooch around the board I found this little gem - and following on from explaining away your drinking habits to crusty old lushes - who actually enjoys putting bottles in teh bottle banks??
OH I DO with a passion - I am such a fuss pot
I empty the car with about 50 or so bottles. [not worth my while otherwise]
I then line them up beside the colour bin it should go in, brown, green or clear.
I then pick up about 4 - 6 bottles at a time and throw them with all my might into the bank. I sometimes do two-handers.
I score myself 1 point for a smash and minus a point for a non-smash.
It is one of life's little pleasures.:) (http://www.survivor-online.co.uk/forums/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&forumid=0#)

Oooh I think I might try this next time I visit the bottle bank, I've got a good selection of different bottles being collected at the moment(sister and hubby visited last week and mum and dad visiting next week, many bottles emptied)
I think we should get a bottle bank league going :w00t:
Well, as most of you probably already know... I collect them for a little while, couple of days.. (or years) before I dispose of them... What would be an explaination to dropping off 1000 grolsch bottles... "Erm, found them in the street"
May I refer you to my photo thread (http://www.survivor-online.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=1073)
Andrea 06-08-2005, 11:27 PM I thought of you actually Fly when reading about Flip's little competition.
Unfortunately, looking at your pictures of all the bottles in the bottle bank, I think you'd end up with alot of minus points :w00t:

Patsy 07-08-2005, 09:22 AM Ours get collected every two weeks. We have green boxes divided down the middle; plastic containers on side, glass the other. Don't have to speak to anyone.
