View Full Version : Trendy Words
Following on from Tiggers Fads thread, and Bob saying that Bonehead - was a word that was rude and not a fashionable game that children play made me think of something my eldest said today.
I sent him to school with beef sandwiches. When he came home he requested that I didn't sent him in with beef sandwiches again. I thought he didn't like them - but no the word 'beef' or 'beefed' is a new word that is used for, and I didn't quite understand what it was used for, but something like knackered or mangled or a bit pants [I think].
It is not too long since he stopped using the word 'mint' or 'sweet' to describe a car or a girl [same thing in his language at the mo].
What words are trendy in your neck of the woods??
Andrea 16-05-2005, 10:08 PM Well my oldest, wisest son of 5 years old has started saying everything is "dumb"
Patsy 16-05-2005, 10:08 PM At Elder Master P's school "that's raw miss, 'low (like cow) it" means........
I say, lady teacher, that seems rather unfair, please reconsider.
Also, apparently something can be "badly good".
jaycee 16-05-2005, 10:14 PM 'Loser' accompanied by the requisite L shape on the forehead seems to figure with Em at the moment...........'whatevaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh' is also a favourite
the word 'proper' is surfacing too...........everything is proper bad or proper good or proper harsh...............tis proper irritating
maxine 17-05-2005, 06:37 AM Neek, seems to be the in word with my 2. I think it has the same meaning as geek.
The 18 year old I work with says 'quality' alot.
Obviously 'cool' is still in, but you have to be under about 21 to say it in the right way.
'decent' appears to be the word of the moment for us. Everything that is good is'decent'.

Oh Flip, I'm soooo with you there. I'm at the stage of throwing something hard and heavy at the TV. In fact I haven't even got it on in the background because I can feel my blood pressure going up every time its on and it's on megga lots - like twice in every flaming ad break!!
Don't these advertisers realise that far from selling the damn ring tones most people are sick to death of hearing them over and over.
I hate that Frog (and the bird and the dragon)

And the Bear!!!
In my eldests language my feelings would be something like this - that frog/dragon/bird/bear are all Beefy!! They need to be beefed up so they look like Beef!
And I am now quite convinced that I am the 'coolest Mom' on the block!! And OK I am over 21 but as I am writing cool it doesn't count!
bing bing...
You are a bad lad, dab!
