What do you all think of it? I don't like it - it's too different from the original version, which imo was a great song.
The rap part which has been added to the new version is pants.

I think the new version is terrible, the original will never be beaten :)

I thnk because the original was such a one off with the memories that go with it for anyone that bought/heard it, it will never be beaten.

I think this new one is ok, but I probably won't be buying it. Although, I haven't bought a single in years anyway:laugh:

I remember buying the first one in 12inch format and really believing that I was changing the world. I used to harp on to my family about it. Oh the innocence of youth. It's a shame really that 20 years down the line, charity records are still needed.

I saw the video and heard the song on TV this evening. I really liked it :)

I actually like it - I have to say I can't really tell the difference unless I am watching the video to accompany it - but yeah - I have always liked the tooon so whoever sings it is fine with me.

And peej I loved the rap part.

oh no it was bluddy awful!! bono sounds worst this time round singing the same part. id heard a rumor that when he recorded it again it sounded so poop that they decided to use the original. well it still doesnt sound any better. also whats the deal with the dizzee rascal bit? its so cheesy (and im usually all for cheese, the mouldier the better but this was beyond me). probably doesnt help that i hate dizzee rascal.

I watched the video when it was on like every channel... I was with a few friends and none of us had positive things to say about it... the rap bit was a bit funny though... the original will just never be beaten though!

So far I have managed to avoid hearing the new version though I have heard lots of negative stuff about it. I still hope it does well though for the cause it is representing.

Downloaded it from i-tunes and I really like it.Its much softer than the original but if I could edit it,I'd take the 'rap' out.Apart from that I think its great and hope it makes lots of money for the charity. :)

I don't really like the new Band Aid Song but it is for a good cause so i suppose it's good. I love the dizzee rascal bit! makes me chuckle! :laugh: :cool2:

I still have my copy of the original on 7" single, its packed away in my "memories box" with along with a video of Live Aid and all of the other dodgy 80's stuff :blush: :laugh: but I do have very happy memories of the 80's....my teens and early 20's, it was a blast!

I love the new single and I will buy it, because of whats it stands for and for my "memories box" :rolleyes: ...at 1st the rap bit annoyed me, but that has grown on me.....

Not to take anything away from the point of the record, which is obviously to make a lot of money for a very deserving cause, but I think the song is AWFUL! I hated it first time round, and it hasn't improved with age.

I think that the band aid that was done first was a lot better then the new one but as me and my boyfriend agree on when kylie minogue and other people did it. Me and him think it was a lot better then both of them but that is mine and his opinon.

I heard it twice in an hour the other day on the radio....this is the first time I have heard the complete track and well....

Although I prefer the old version I actually quite like this one....yes I do...I am an 80's child as far as music goes and the original Band Aid was the song of the 80's as it had all the stars of my day singing on it....I loved it.....However I have to confess that years of hearing the record over and over and over again have made it become a bit stale for me and this new version has given it a fresh look....I enjoyed hearing it both times and can see that it would appeal to the younger generation of today...so yeah it has a thumbs up from me.....even if I do still prefer the original. :laugh: :cool2:
