Arsene Wenger displayed very strange tactics in this rather an anti-climax of a Cup Final, but they paid off in the end. Defend at all costs, wear them down, niggle them and most of all, practice your pentalty taking.

Jens Lehman was outstanding throughout, making 3 match-winning saves, culminating in a penalty save taken by Paul Scholes, of all people.

The commentators kept saying how United had all the chances and it was a very poor Arsenal performance. Yes, United did have many chances, most of them on target, but THEY DIDN'T HIT THE BACK OF THE NET.

You may say the best team on the day lost, but who cares?

COME ON YOU LONDON REDS!

I'm sure Ferguson will be very humble in defeat - NOT!

I'm glad Utd didn't win despite being the more dominant team!

Well Done Arsenal

Of course Arsenal winning was absolutely the right thing. http://img99.exs.cx/img99/8577/yupi3ti.gif

Only shame was that dickhead Rooney managed to score his penalty. :mad2:

Well done to Arsenal:thumbsup:

Although it begrudges me to say it, Man United did play well, (much better than when we beat them:w00t: )

But as you say Patsy, it doesn't matter who plays the best, who has the more shots on goal, it's the team who puts them in the back of the net that win. No matter how good or bad they play.
(That's what I've been saying to myself all season:laugh: )

And continuing on from emmaroy's post. I am obviously biased towards Arsenal because I support them. I make it obvious that I don't like Utd, but there are more subtle ways of having "friendly banter" than tarring everyone in London as "cheating scum".

Sorry, wasn't going to say anything, but couldn't let it go.

Yes, I understand, Patsy. I wasn't going to say anything either, because we're all enjoying a pleasant Sunday here, but I do find emmaroy's post rude and aggressive. And I have no loyalty to either club or city.

And you know what they say about Northerners - whingeing scum!!!

Now, now, come on. Definition of scum - worthless people. I'm sure there must be some worthwhile people up north. Yes? No?

I shall refrain from making reference to mushy peas and flat caps as that would be a hideous stereotype.

And whatEVER you do, don't mention ferrets, whippets, pigeon fancying, black pudding and constant rain.

No, I won't.

Or the fact that London teams have won the all the major competitions this year. :whistling:

Emmeroy, you are very welcome to join in the discussion, but please do so in a civil manner, without any derogatory comments.

Or that there are more northern teams in the Premiership than Southern teams? (Especially when Preston go up! [I say hoping])

Man Utd did play better in the game, but if they truly deserved to win they would have got it in the back of the net which didn't happen (and be onside) in normal time or extra time.

I just happened to watch it among many arsenal fans (despite being in manchester... and man u are supposed to be the glory supporters) and they were all quite nasty in their victory when they could have easily said "unlucky, good game." But that's just a small bunch of people. I've not heard what Arsene Wenger or the Arsenal players have said about the game.

So well done to Arsenal, they did what mattered, and man u know they also have the ability to beat arsenal. I'm just glad it didn't go to chelsea (though I prefer them to Arsenal) they've had enough glory in the league (they they did deserve every ounce of it).

Who cares anyway? Preston will beat them all next year!

Well I am just about to don my flat cap, having just finished my mushy peas [parp - oops do excuse me?] and I am about to wander through the cobbled streets with my darling whippets, and I wish all southerners [and northerners] a very good day.

Ah, but you don't count as "up North" Flip. Northumberland is so far North that even Northeners can't understand the locals!

I admire your optimism, Flyo! Must say, would rather them than West Ham (sorry Buzzy) and really can't get my head around Wigan!

I agree with what you say about being gallant in victory. Surprised they didn't get a beating (maybe they did, on their way home).

What I can't understand, though, is how Rooney got Man of the Match, when Lehman was responsible for Arsenal winning the title, both by his amazing saves and consummate professionalism, and I'm not particularly a Lehman fan. The commentator, Martin Tyler, was referring to and forning over Rooney the whole match, presumably hoping for a great story whereby "Rooney scores in his first Cup Final at the age of 19", so as they didn't win, they had to give him something.

Even as an impartial, you must say I have a point?

Brought back to life!

Have they won anything since?

Does anyone care?
