HELLO PEEPS!!

Having an obscenely good time over here. Flew in to Nice yesterday morning , threw the bags into the hotel and legged it to the train station to get to Monaco. Stunning place. It was absoultely jammed with slebs and plebs like us, all enjoying the spectacle that is the Monte Carlo grand prix.

Not having stand tickets we wisely found the best boozer nearest to the track - it was amazing watching it on the big screen and running outside to be deafened as the cars roared by only metres away - met some gas people and enjoyed too many cold beers .

got back to Nice about 8 and went out to dinner at a fab restaurant. was surprised at the prices - medium standard restaurants are about the same price as in Dublin - but being completely spleened and very fond of ourselves we pushed the boat out for one night only!

walked the dinner off along the seafront and came upon a cuban music club with a really good band, and made eejits of ourselves doing the salsa. Drunken paddies do not make for exhibition standard dancers, but the locals thought we were halarious altogether.

don't know what time we got back to the hotal at  but we were up at 9 this morning for brekkie, and hit the beach for a bit. Felt a little bit tired soon after and proceeded to be very european by going for a ickle siesta for a while to recharge the batteries. Haven't a clue what we'll get up to later, but it will probably include wine, nosh and sunshine. Tough life all the same. :ninja:

anyhoo - thought I'd say hello and sucks boo to all of ye in work [specially bons - your birthday should be a mandatory day off in my books! - and speak to yez later!!

bye de bye!!

Of all the Grand Prix, Monaco is the one I'd love to go to, combining two great events.

Sounds brilliant, TE. Very jealous, but happy you're enjoying it, especially as you thought it was going to be more expensive.

hello again my british schums!! Bonjour, ca va bien? Deux biers sil vous plais.

right - thats about how much french we've learnt, but strangely enough it seems to suffice.

Am totally loving this place. Got as burnt as irish eejits yesterday [why do we think that flesh that hasn't seen the light of day in 9 months won't immediately crisp up to a nice BBQ consistancy when we go abroad?] and Urk is a particularly appealing shade of pink, but what the hell - we're sharing a private beach with posh peeps, drinking rose wine like natives, and eating like bleedin' kings. Even the kebab we got last night at 2.30 a.m. seemed sophisticated!!

we're off later this afternoon to hire mopeds for tommorrow to vibe off down the stunning coast road to Cannes - its our last full day so we thought we'd make an effort to get off the beach and out of the bars! - so that should be a decent way to spend the day. we fly back on friday night at 10 p.m. so we'll probably just spend that day here on the Nice beach.
Am getting seriously used to having a cognac with our breakfast coffees. A week here is probably all our seasoned livers could stand......:bag:

anyhoo - hope yez are all tres jolie et content, et maintenant je suis off to
da casino bar to jetison my last few bob.......

a tout a lour mes amis.

hellooooo again.

we're having difficulty deciding what to do today. lie on the beach or go visiting touristy thingies or go for a nice lunch or what. IT'S a bleedin' hard life.

Urk has now decided he wants to be a french carpenter. I wholeheartedly support this decision if it means I can just sit on the beach all day. reading trashy novels and drinking chilled rose wine. Oh, and I lost my glasses and Urk lost his lighter that I bought him for christmas, so the wine is obviously working. thankfully we haven't lost the hotel yet.

right, we're off to the beach apparantly,. see yez all soon.

take care,

hello again mon chers.

I'm now setting up a business with a dodgy french guy to import rose wine into dublin. He wants to include some small 'additions' to the imports - I'm not allowed to ask what they are - but the concierge in the hotel is making arrangements already for my mum to visit me in Marseille's jail.

in the meantime we've seen some spectacular live music and 'carnivale' type street entertainment. Apparantly this is the best time of year to be here before the real tourist mayhem starts - restaurants and pubs and hotels are busy enough to be enjoyable without the volumn of peeps and noise. And they work harder to get the money out of you. no stereotypical french aloofness apparant.

The food is seriously mega, and accordingly me poor auld waistline has taken on a frightening life of it's own, and is threatening to embrace my ankles very shortly.

Right, we're off to the 'old town' shortly to see a really good band and have too many beers [yeh, what a surprise]. We'll need a bleedin' holiday to get over this one!!

hope yez are all well [hope you had a good barfday bons] and talk to ye soon.

take care,

te et urk

LOL Max, I do exactly the same! You are having an absolute ball, TE. You & Urk would fit in anywhere and don't put yourself down love, you are every bit as posh as those peeps on the beach.

I'll give it another few days and you'l be selling Guiness and garlic to the French. Will the Emerald Isle ever so you two again?!
