It's lovely cat. Very you.
Bella 27-05-2005, 06:21 AM Wow Cat, that must have taken you ages! You are very talented, do you have any more? I never knew you done tapestry! You go girl!
My hand is up Cat!!
I think it is wonderful, that is an amazing tapestry, and the stitches are tiny, I know I can tell - I do tapestrys too - but my stitches are always a bit bigger - my eyesight and patience won't allow me to do intricate ones.
Well Done you.:smartie:
floopy 27-05-2005, 07:57 AM Cat, did you actually tapestrify this, or is it an ebay job?
Cockney 27-05-2005, 07:59 AM Er ......Yes..........Lovely http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_25.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxdm22755GB)

I am definately thinking on the lines of you Floopy, and I think it is one of her many purchases from E-bay.:w00t:
That was my immediate reaction too, Andrea & Floops!

You could post a picture of your boobs and say "how about these puppies"
You could post a picture of your chairs and say "how about these puppies"
"How about these puppies??"
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v141/showey/r0300430.jpg
These puppies were wrecked, wooden, chairs that I found in our garage years ago. They had mice living in them and they were quite broken!!
I stripped them down, mended the wooden bits. I then painted them, distressed them and then waxed them and then webbed, sprung, upholstered [with horse hair] and then covered them.
They go perfectly with my bed in Scotland - which will come here when the house is sold ...
... so hands up who like these puppies??
Gelastic 27-05-2005, 12:58 PM You could post a picture of your boobs and say "how about these puppies"
Well I guess it's always an option... course I could use a pic of Jordans instead - for a bigger impact

ME ME ME! My hands are up. What lovely sterdy chairs flip...well done.
Can I just confess here that I didn't do the tapestry, I never claimed I did, I just said I was proud of it.
I bought it from the House of Bath..it cost £50.
Gelastic 27-05-2005, 05:40 PM You sooooo should have lied Cat :D
Those puppies are fab Flip, and the chairs are nice to, hahahahah (sorry Mr G's brother was over earlier and clearly left some of his testoterone behind - he does appear to be overflowing with it :D)
Bella 27-05-2005, 06:09 PM ooooh nice chairs, Flip! I like very much! Oh Cat, I thought you had actually done the tapestry! In that case............. :bag:
Marmoset 27-05-2005, 06:42 PM I thought you'd done the tapestry anorl :)
Flip, cool chairs, I think they look quirky...quirky in my book is good :)
Here's one I have just framed, pastel on card.

oops a bit big!
M
Coastie 27-05-2005, 07:32 PM WOW! :w00t:
You did that Marmy....
Love it...both hands in the air woo woo your talent...excellent!
Flippy....do you use those lovely chairs or are they purely for decoration?
Cat....Yes...I do like your tapestry!
can I just say that I didn't think Cat had done the tapestry herself, I was being sarcastic :shocking:
But well done for hanging it up
Woah Marmolot - that is stupendous, and you did pastel that yourself onto card didn't you?? Good Lord that is talent ... soooo impressed!! what a clever girl thee is!!
I have just looked back at my chairs and they look like fat, ungainly items - in fact they look quite graceful [must be my pants camera technques] - but thanks M - they are quirky, and in my book quirky is the way forward... and Coastie - they are presently used as clothes stands as they are stacked one on top of the other in my kakky bedroom - but they wait in trepid anticipation of joining their cohorts in my new bedroom which is in the processs of being built!
And I so wanted you have done that tapestry Cat - depsite its loveliness - I wanted to talk needles and wool with a fellow tapestrician!!!!
Coastie 27-05-2005, 09:41 PM How about showing us one of your windows Flip.... :w00t: Go on ya know you want to! ;)
Bella 27-05-2005, 09:42 PM Marmie, he....or is it she... is just beautiful! You have talent there, girl! What with your poems and everything, you are going places! Fab picture!
Marmoset 27-05-2005, 09:48 PM Aww thanks Coastie and Flip...art is the only thing I CAN do really lol :)
Flip, I have 4 similar old chairs that I got from a friend who hated em, they were originally from an auction... and she recovered them in bright orange, and I mean B R I G H T !
I sanded em down and stained em but recovering is beyond me, they are currently in the loft cos Mr M thinks they are hideous! but the carving on them is sooo lintricate, they are sort of Moorish stylee and would only need the seats recovered, is it easy to do (the seats just lift off) I need to find some ethnic type fabric first tho.

Marms - if the seats [in the chairs] are lift outs then covering is pimpsy easy - jsut find the fabric and stretch like you life depends on it and tack with 10mm tacks - or even better with an industrial stapler.
If they are stuffed or sprung - find an upholstery class - go and register and do them - it honestly is worth it.
Those two chairs I did - cost me nothing to buy [they were hand me downs from some relative], the course was not too much, the materials were not too much and the fabric was ridiculously expensive [it was a Liberty print] - but thats not the point - once you can do it - you can always do it.
And Coastie I will do one of my windows this weekend sometime.

Excellent!
I have nothing to show you as I have no access to a scanner...however I would like to dwell a while in all of your resflective glories....
Cat for her hanging skills and good tapestry judgement.
Marmy for her incredible artistic talents.
Flip for her upholstery skills and soon to be displayed stain glass window making abilities!
I am in the presence of greatness...well done you all!
oooh oooh ooooh ... I may not have done the tapestry but I did this.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/Caty65/Freddie.jpg
It's the Fredmeister in charcoal...did it in my water colour classes last year..I digressed.
Now that is impressive Cat
Marmy you are a genius, so talented. I wish I had a born talent.
Flip, the chair I'm sitting on right now is torn and the foam is the only thing I can see. It's a cheap MFI plastic chair with a plastic (now torn) cover.
Only a £10, but I don't throw if I can save! Apart from the spare pillow over it, what else can I do?
Bella 28-05-2005, 07:54 AM Cat, that is fantastic! Much better than the tapestry! It is very impressive, I love it! Although, I notice the date is.....2084.......do you time-travel?
For those of you who haven't seen this, this is my recent piece of silver-work - one hammered bangle! Have to say I do love it! :)

No I havn't....I have actually got one water colour to show for my classes...will picture that later. I just don't have the time - or what time I do have I have to give towards study at the moment.
Charcoaling is fun..very messy but goo.
Dab...have you got any pictures of the things you have blown up?

Andrea 28-05-2005, 12:26 PM I'm gonna boast about, dare I say it, cross stitch.:ninja:
This is one I did a few years ago
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v76/andreab33/crossstitich.jpg
Andrea 28-05-2005, 12:28 PM and today I have got my bike out of the shed and given it a clean so I shall be whizzing around the town like a woman possessed.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v76/andreab33/bike.jpg
Andrea, you're never going to ride that kiddies bike!
Love the cross stitch, you lot are a talented bunch. I don't think I have got anything to show off. I'll have to think about something, anything that I have achieved!
oooh I like your cross stitch Andrea. My hand is certainly up for that one.
Gelastic 28-05-2005, 02:49 PM I like the bike :D I miss having a bike now, although it's been a while.
I don't have a pic, but I finally got round to putting the shelves up in the cupboard that I store Mini G's toys in, finally its nice and tidy and everything isn't in a laundry basket.
Critique 28-05-2005, 03:01 PM Wow you are all so talented.
I love the cross-stitch Andrea. I am ashamed to say that I have about 4 abandoned ones in the cupboard and about 6 brand new ones in packets that I now have no time for whatsoever.
My trouble is I don't finish anything. I have a three quarters finished rug kit too
I blame it all on the computer :)
Fee For All 28-05-2005, 03:02 PM Andrea - that must have taken ages!

AND I also love your fish on the wall...do you like mine..I gave it to Buzz as an Xmas pressy but she didnt' appreciate it and gave it back to me...thankfully.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/Caty65/fish.jpg
Here is my water colour painting...compared to Marmy's cat its a load of ****e.
I actually bought a lovely frame for this, but whipped it out when did the charcoal. It's not brilliant but I was quite pleased at the time. Much prefer the charcoal tho.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/Caty65/water.jpg
I like the naked man on the fridge! :naughty:
Cat - I have to say I am not big on fish but I a glad buzz gave it back to you!
Andrea - I like your bike, now whenever I think of you, I will think of you bombing around on your bike like a manic :ninja:
Andrea 28-05-2005, 10:02 PM My cross stitch has kind of fallen by the wayside now, since discovering computers.
I used to do it alot at night when sat watching TV (cross stitching that is)
Coastie 29-05-2005, 03:12 AM Andrea - I like your bike, now whenever I think of you, I will think of you bombing around on your bike like a manic :ninja:

Cat, where's Fungus? Do you still have him?
Sadly not. I did get the book last year for the boys tho.
Flip for her soon to be displayed stain glass window making abilities!
Hey Presto - here is one I made earlier ...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v141/showey/palacewindow.jpg
I am trying to give approval to the talents that abound on this board - but it won't let me - it is telling me to spread it around, well one has!!?? Andrea, that cross stitch is superb, I bet that took ages and ages maybe years to finish?? Fee your kitchen is glorious, and I love the tongue and groove idea on the freezer - a girl after my own heart. Cat - you minx you - that is really brilliant, that watercolour - I always think watercolours are the most technically difficult medium to work in and get a good end result - well girl you have suceeded superbly!!
Fee For All 29-05-2005, 02:52 PM Oooh, nice window Flip! Is that done with one of thise QVC kits? I have two unused knocking about somewhere - it seemed like a good idea one wet Sunday afternoon
Oooh, nice window Flip! Is that done with one of thise QVC kits? I have two unused knocking about somewhere - it seemed like a good idea one wet Sunday afternoon
No Fee - I haven't heard of a QVC kit - what is it??
It is coloured and clear [made the old fashioned way - wibbly] glass that I cut up myself, slotted into lead, affixed with chalk and gunk, then soldered, and as it over a meter high I had to reinforce various leads to strengthen it. I made it for my house in Scotland - the crown [which is a bit difficult to see] was a replica of the Crown King Charles Faa Blythe wore when he was crowned King of the Gypsies in a massive Coronation in 1898. [He was a previous resident of my house].
You window is a credit to you flippy...I have done glass painting...infact I painted on the mirror that was shown in pic re naming this middle room. Glass painting is great fun.
I found watercolour difficult too...after a term our class joined together with a Drawing for beginners glass which went through every medium and I found myself edging my chair over towards them...hense the charcoal mid course.
Coastie 30-05-2005, 07:36 PM Oooo that is one fantastic window Flip....love it and I like the colour of your walls to it really sets off the glass....you really are a lady of taste and class!
Bella 30-05-2005, 07:43 PM Oooo that is one fantastic window Flip....love it and I like the colour of your walls to it really sets off the glass....you really are a lady of taste and class!
You should see the rest of the "Palace" Coastie, it really is a wee gem! And there are loads of Flip's little personal touches all over the place, it is a fab wee place to get away to!
Loving your paintings Cat, and Andrea that cross-stitch is wonderful. I done a wee teensy one of Bambi when I was pregnant and it took me ages!
I know this is an unadulterated way of advertising the sale of my house - but here is another window I made - see the link below - we are the 19th property down 'The Gipsy Palace' and then when you get that, the 6th picture down the left hand side is my very first window I ever made. It is now between the lounge and the kitchen.
http://http://www.hastingslegal.co.uk/Houses/844.htm
It doesn't work - bear with me and I shall try to resolve my ineptitude!

Forget my initial instructions - I can't get the website to work - but here is my first window nonetheless! It is called 'Bubbles'. And those spherical objects are green, blue and purple [in no particular] order glass balls.
My hand is up Flip...it's lovely..well done you.
Coastie 12-06-2005, 07:19 PM Ooo lovely! My hand is up!
Here are my first attempts at water colour since leaving school. My daughter, (who went to art college) tells me they're overworked and childish, and obviously they're awful alongside Marmy's and Cat's talent, but I'm glad I finally got started.

What a talented, creative bunch you are. The paintings, the window, the pine cladding - all fabulous.
