View Full Version : Science
Pandora 30-05-2005, 03:18 PM Okay, so far, although Science does seem to have a selfish streak a mile wide, he seems an okay guy.
He has come into the house aiming to be the next "Victor" - trouble is, while Victor sometimes came across (IMO), as having the capability of getting really quite nasty, Science tries to do the nasty, hardman act and it doesnt come off.
His discussion with Kemal re his sexuality - although it was loud - was never aggressive and gave Kemal some terrific chances to come up with some scathing one liners that Science laughed at.
Another thing that completely floors me and Mr P when we have been watching it, is how quickly Science's hard man ghetto accent disintegrates into a yorkshire accent worthy of Avid Merrion's Bo Selecta character, Craig David. For those who know who I am talking about, I keep expecting Science to start shouting, "Check it owwwwwwwwwwwttttttt, Cum on our Kezzzzz".....
Gelastic 30-05-2005, 03:23 PM I have to say it made me laugh that Science claimed to come form the hodd, and when it was disputed go this really babyish thing of "oh yes I do" etc.
Bless.
So right about the accent Pandora. Poor baby, he tries so hard to be tough :D

Exactly what I was going to say pandora!
I'm not liking Science at all. When he was in the Diary Room yesterday he was saying things like "Im 'ere' to spread the luuurve" - huh? Where did that come from?
Whatever he's trying to be, it's just not working.
As far as I can see he just comes over as a whining immature brat.
GO SCIENCE GO SCIENCE GO SCIENCE
Ceridwen 30-05-2005, 06:02 PM Sorry, I think the bloke's an idiot.
Sorry, I think the bloke's an idiot.
Don't be sorry Ceri!
Pandora 30-05-2005, 06:23 PM GO SCIENCE GO SCIENCE GO SCIENCE
Yes - GO SCIENCE - straight out the door on eviction night soon !!!!!
Dolores 30-05-2005, 07:40 PM I wanted to like him, but so far I'm not keen. I mean he's no Victor is he!
maxine 31-05-2005, 07:08 AM I wanted to like him, but so far I'm not keen. I mean he's no Victor is he!
I really think it's time you moved on from your Victor fixation.
I think Science is OK.
I don't like him much. he is just immature and childish and I his little strop over the fish fingers proved as much
isleofweather 31-05-2005, 08:59 AM Chaps like, ahem, "Science" use the rap culture as his means of status in a world where he will thinks status will not be afforded to him by traditional means of job, social standing etc.. and it may be a black thing (derek seems to have bypassed this by social upbringing).
I maintain that he has a decent Mum who has brought him up well (this shines through the bluster) and when he settles down he will be a good housemate (as long as a rogue draught does not sweep him and kemal away).
He is still miles better than "Charlie Big Potay-taz" that awful Maxwell :wallbash:
Pandora 01-06-2005, 06:46 PM Blimey, Ive just a pic of Science in the house, on the Big Bro website, with his plaits all undone and his hair combed up into a big scary bush. He looks like Don King, the U.S. boxing promoter
Science is really growing on me now....he did come across as a pratt with the salad cream paddy, but now he's calming down...a much nicer side is coming out.
I still don't like him. He keeps trying to do little raps in the house from time to time that just aren't funny. He should just try being himself instead of this gangsta facade cos I don't think that's him at all.

I don't think any of them are them selves at all yet, this is whats so fascinating...watching the real person emerge from their pods where they have been self imprisoned.
Science is the only one who sussed Mikosi's secret mission, and got it spot on too.
Patsy 01-06-2005, 09:14 PM I think he's a tw@t.
floopy 01-06-2005, 09:18 PM I'm still really liking Science, his reasons for nominating were totally honest. I like him
Groucho 01-06-2005, 09:21 PM It seems to me like Science has spent too long watching tapes of Victor in the diary room.
All his buzz lines are too rehearsed.

Good girl floopy! You know it makes sense

All his buzz lines are too rehearsed.
At the risk of incurring the sarcasm of my esteemed friend on the board. I have to agree with you Groucho!!
Victor made me laff ... Science makes me cringe!! All this black ghetto speak is so contrived. you were born and bred in LEEDS!!!! not the back streets of Jamaica!
Andrea 28-06-2005, 11:03 PM do you know, I keep changing my mind about Science. I like him then I don't, then I like him again.
But lately more and more I am loving what he is doing.
Every nomination day, when they are all sat in the lounge he has a go at someone, and one of them bites and it kicks off. If they didn't bite, he would shut up.
But it was Anthony today and you could see him getting riled, but Science just doesn't seem to care.
And his nominations always seem to be well thought out, and he always seems to know alot of what is going on between the two teams. He seems very perceptive.
And to stay in that house without making any alliengences, and just being himself is amazing.
OK, probably tomorrow I'll go off him again, but I am liking him at the minute
Nice one Andrea another one moves over to team Afro.
he may not be a genius, but his antics are hilarious and have me LMAO.
he is very perceptive he has them all sussed. I love the way he stands in the middle of them all and says the first thing that comes into his head. He isn't trying to win friends and influence people- he's just there.
Anthony really was no match today. calling him ugly was all he could manage In pretty boys mind everyone else is ugly in comparison
Dolores 29-06-2005, 07:13 AM I like Science (in the context of BB ... outside i would avoid the argumentative little know all like the plague!!). Occasionally he comes up with a blinding observation that has me creased up or quite surprised by it's accuracy.
He has become a a lot calmer now and I have to say he's in my top two at the moment!
isleofweather 29-06-2005, 08:10 AM I guess at least he is different but as most white folks in the UK have no black friends then i suspect (and this does not agree with old moany face from the equal racial committe for stiring things up who was in the news yesterday) that he is not really a positive black rolemodel, more fitting in with most people's stereotypes.
What is funny is that he is the very stereotype that he so obviously rebels against
Bella 29-06-2005, 08:24 AM I am on swings and roundabouts with Science, sometimes he makes me laugh and othertimes I just wish he would shut-up, but he has everyone sussed. He knows exactly how to wind them up and his comments when Saskia & Maxwell were found out were hilarous. He just doesn't care and he isn't playing with the minds of people to try and influence friendships or win support, he is just who he is. I loved when Saskia was kicking off at Makosi and he was there again spouting his stuff, not really getting involved or taking sides but giving out these one-liners! With you you get what see and there really is no cover-up or slyness about him and the fact that he can get Maxwell doing his dinger gets a thumbsup in my book!
Bonsai 29-06-2005, 08:38 AM I still cant understand a blummin word he says
Science is a clever and intelligent bloke with a dreadful accent and way of speaking. He has a chip on his shoulder the width of the mersey tunnel. He has everyone sussed and cares not a jot if he upsets anyone.
I actually don't like him one little bit, but I admire his tenacity and resolve. I do occasionally feel dreadfully sorry for him, from where he has come from [to have an attiutde that bad] and to where he may go [???].

Im shocked at your 1st statement and its the 2nd time in as many days that I have heard something like this said.......
I find it quite unbelievable that "most white folks in the UK" have no black friends - I have got LOADS of black friends, my best friend through high school was black, several of my girlfriends are in relationships with black guys, many friends have mixed race children, I have a couple of black friends here in Devon - although I have to admit, the amount of black/asian people that live here are considerably less than in the Midlands!
As for Science himself - I blow hot and cold with him, I have found him very amusing, but he has also enraged me with his arrogance - but in the same way that Lewie my 19 year old step son does, I dont think its a "black thing" it a "young male in the 21st centuary thing"!!!!

Well had I said " Isis has no black friends you may have a point" but I said "most white folks" and whether it is shocking or not I expect it is true for the main (especially in rural England, Scotland Wales and ireland).
jaycee 29-06-2005, 06:12 PM I detest Science I'm afraid.............I think he is an opinionated, arrogant prick.
Having said that some of the things he says do make me laugh............l
Groucho 05-07-2005, 10:13 PM Every time I start to warm to Science, he says something stupid, arrogant or downright chauvanistic and písses me off again.
maxine 06-07-2005, 06:44 AM I like Science - he's the only one who doesn't suck up and I reckon he's being true to himself. I hope he doesn't go on Friday. Please vote for Maxwell - the look on his face when he realises he's lost out to Science will be priceless.
Bonsai 06-07-2005, 08:55 AM I cant stand him, never have. I wish he came with his own set of subtitles too :bored:
survivorfan 06-07-2005, 08:59 AM He might be a pain, but he's not as awful as most of the rest of them.
Bella 06-07-2005, 09:00 AM He might be a pain, but he's not as awful as most of the rest of them.
I agree, Science is probably the housemate that is there without an agenda, what you see is what you get. And yes he can be extremely annoying at times but at least he is honest!
Pandora 06-07-2005, 11:22 AM I havent heard Science utter one sentence yet that I can understand. He just seems to say the first words that pop into his head and arranges them into a sentence, which makes no sense whatsoever.
I cant stand him to be honest. I find him rude, ill mannered and a know all that knows nothing.
There again, that description could apply to all of them apart from Eugene at the moment.
Critique 08-07-2005, 10:48 PM Watching live feed on E4 now and Science has been given the promised party along with the people he chose to be on his team to give the reasons why he should stay.
He was like a little boy when they called him to the house - "Oh man, I got balloons, hats and a cake with my face on it!" So his party guests are Makosi, Vanetha, Eugene and .........Craig who are all wearing the Science T-shirts.
I remember when Craig got so upset because he wasn't picked first by Maxwell, and Science then surprised him by picking him to bat on his side. His words to Maxwell were ....."I'll be sitting here while you all have a ******* party" he was that sure that Maxwell was going to win.
Derek, Orlaith, Kemal and Anthony are sitting in the living room area looking over at the party. Orlaith asked how long they are likely to be sitting there and Derek has informed her that these parties can go on til 1 in the morning  They're bored and fed up. You can't blame them really, especially as they didn't support Maxwell from choice but simply because he picked them.
Craig, shallow or what? One minute the tears and now he is smiling, dancing around, singing and partaking freely of the food and drink at Science's party!
He even did the "funny voice" thing by breathing in the helium from one of the balloons. Didn't take him long to get over losing Maxwell did it? He manages to put on a sad face now and then when he remembers
Critique 09-07-2005, 06:56 PM The more of this I watched last night (as above) the more gob-smacked I was at Craig's ability to change his mood at the drop of a hat. He was standing on one of the beds with Vanetha and Makosi gyrating to the music, singing and laughing like a drain.
Science apparently spent the night puking
sayangmouse 09-07-2005, 07:20 PM Oooh he upset Derek though by stealing one of his cigars.
Derek gets in on with Science, let the games begin........
.... a neverending English monologue vs a rap eulogy. I predict no clear winner.

The rapping is getting on my nerves big time now. He isnt even that good. As for the stealing of Derek's cigar - ooooooh big mistake. The Dark Deceiver will be furious.
Seriously, Science was out of order taking something from someone's drawer without permission.
Not big and not clever.
As everyone has said, Crimping Craig's transformation from wobbly breasted, tearey eyed devotee of Maxwell was remarkable wasnt it? One chord of "Fighter by The Aguileira" and Craig was table dancing.
Science, for once, dropped his guard and got drunk and has suffered ever since (snicker)....
and Makosi... was she drinking???? Surely thats not good for the quads she is expecting???????
Critique 10-07-2005, 10:32 PM Science stole a cigar whilst under the influence of a large intake of alcohol. Craig stole items off the shopping list in order to get beer and he was stone cold sober.
Science has admitted that he was wrong. Craig thinks it's par for the course!!
Not sticking up for Science really cos I can't stand any of them, but he isn't the only one to steal stuff and the others haven't always been drunk at the time.
sayangmouse 10-07-2005, 10:38 PM When I first heard of it I was thinking he did it for personal gain, but when I saw it was deliberate, announced, and not underhand, it made it "cleaner" in my eyes.
He did it just to P off Derek, for whatever reason, so theft isnt really the issue; was it justifiable as an act of war, or not. Who cast the first stone.
I have no idea, but its just a personal argument that Science decided to escalate (is escalation ever justified?). Dunno.
maxine 11-07-2005, 07:03 AM I agree with Crit and Sayangmouse. It's not as if Science sneakily nicked one of Derek's cigars - he did it quite openly. Craig's tampering with the shopping list was a worse crime. And all that guff about how he did it so he'd get nominated because it wasn't any fun without Saskia and Maxwell - he changed it before Maxwell left.

Craig later apologised though and Science refuses point blank to apologise - even though he has admitted he was wrong to nick the cigar. Grrr!:mad2:

Taken out of context and as an isolated incident I would say yes, Science was wrong for not apologising but looking at the bigger picture of all the scheming, conniving, back-stabbing and plotting that is going on in the house, I don't think Science is any worse than any of the others.
As mentioned by someone else, I love the way he always says "please" and "thankyou" even when he is ranting about something, if interrupted and asked e.g "do you want butter on your toast" he still remembers to say "yes please" or "no thankyou" before continuing with his ranting
I don't know why I am defending him - I don't even like him that much but as I said before, I don't like any of them
I don't know why I am defending him - I don't even like him that much but as I said before, I don't like any of them
Cos you are being just and fair - and the point you make is very valid in the BB house.
But admitting you are wrong and then refusing to apologise is just being contrary and rude. And one wrong doesn't make another wrong right! [that is not quite the right saying I wanted to use but it has slipped my mind]
And
as for Craig -
I don't know why I am defending him - I don't even like him that much.

LOL - Flip. What are we like - defending people we don't really care about. But to continue with the discussion, I would still maintain that "contrary and rude" is the norm is the BB household. I'm sure if it wasn't so darn hot I could come up with a load of examples of Craig being contrary and rude but I'm a bit brain dead at the moment due to excessive heat.
In a nutshell, I find it difficult to condemn Science over this particular incident because it palls into insignificance compared to some of Craig's (and all the other housemates' ) behaviour.
As you say (or I think you meant - lol) two wrongs don't make a right but we are not talking normal people and normal behaviour. They are all just playing the Big Brother game and as apologies don't seem to figure very highly in this game then Science isn't losing any brownie points with me for not apologising :)
Pandora 11-07-2005, 05:36 PM . Craig's tampering with the shopping list was a worse crime. And all that guff about how he did it so he'd get nominated because it wasn't any fun without Saskia and Maxwell - he changed it before Maxwell left. And more to the point, he so obviously changed it in order to brown nose to Maxwell ! Although Craig makes me laugh sometimes (unintentionally) I hated the vile looks he was giving people during the video clips. He really isnt a nice person.
Science needs to grow up a little. He is too bothered what other people think and is constantly putting on an act. When he drops the act, he is actually pleasant. What DOES stick out is the fact that he says please and thank you. He thanked BB for his party about four times. His Mother has obviously brought him up well......
Just wish he would drop the ghetto boi act though, he doesnt need it.
Andrea 11-07-2005, 11:31 PM I actually quite like Science :ninja:
Pandora 12-07-2005, 09:29 AM I actually quite like Science :ninja:
God Andrea, how could you !!!!! Personally Id have killed him stone dead during the task shown last night. All the time they were cleaning, he was screeching stupid noises that went on and on and on and on. He was so aggravating. When asked to stop by Orlaith because she had a headache and he was just making stupid loud noises, he replied, "sorry no, I cant, I cant keep quiet at the moment".
Selfish, aggravating, insensitive, stubborn, immature git that he is.
survivorfan 12-07-2005, 10:12 AM I quite like him too.
isleofweather 12-07-2005, 10:29 AM I quite like him too.
Science is the only one who I want to win. The way to like Science is to imagine how awful it would be is any of the others won.
Pandora 12-07-2005, 11:30 PM Science is the only one who I want to win. The way to like Science is to imagine how awful it would be is any of the others won. I love the fact that sneaky Derek, woke up the others at 6am, but left Science, Craig and Anthony to sleep. Little did he know, Science was awake and sussed what Derek was doing and announced it to Anthony and Craig, showing once more what a devious devil the Dark Deceiver really is..... lol.
Ill say this, despite his irritating faults (ie his loudness and inability to form a sentence), he is no fool.
LOL also at what he said when Kemal and Makosi were discussing "how to wash up". Science said, "I wash everything in hot running water, check they clean, rinse, get arrrrrhhhhhl the grease off, check it agen, rinse agen in 'ot water, then I smell it to check its arrrhl okay....."
Cleanliness obsession? Science?? Surely not.......
I am on the Science bandwagon too. I can see how annoying he is to the others but there is a kind of innocent vunerability about him. I still love the way that in the middle of his seemingly mad rantings something quite profound and funny pops out.
He really is a Keiran, not a Science.
maxine 13-07-2005, 10:23 AM I like him too. I can't really see him going on Friday. He's the only one in there who's making me laugh at the moment although I don't think it's his intention to be funny. Plus, we are hair buddies. His afro is what mine looks like first thing in the morning and if I don't use any hair products.
It's interesting the way he seems to be getting on a lot better with Anthony now that Maxwell has gone.
Andrea 13-07-2005, 10:15 PM I still really like Science and at the moment is my favourite to win.
It's just some of the stuff he comes out with makes me laugh.
Dolores 13-07-2005, 10:19 PM I like Science cos I think he is very kind and genuinely seems to like Eugene. (what an unlikely couple they are!). They were so funny tonight commentating on the beauty pageant, they made me laugh out loud. They were like two naughty boys who looked like they were really enjoying themselves!
Orlaiths face when it was revealed that she was partnering Science for the task!
They seem to be geting on well with it. One thng I'll say for Science is that he gives it his all in the tasks and he does listen to others and let them lead if he knows he has to.
sayangmouse 13-07-2005, 10:27 PM I had to laugh though Bob as I have never seen the congo done with so little enthusiasm as when Science did it. Bless him, but I don't think he felt his street cred was going up congaing around the house.
Pandora 13-07-2005, 10:48 PM I like Science cos I think he is very kind and genuinely seems to like Eugene. (what an unlikely couple they are!). They were so funny tonight commentating on the beauty pageant, they made me laugh out loud. They were like two naughty boys who looked like they were really enjoying themselves! They were werent they Dol !!! And you know why??? Because just for a few minutes, Science wasnt trying to impress his mates on the outside. He was himself. He wasnt doing his ghetto boiy act, he wasnt horribly self conscious and shouting..... he and Eugene were excellent.
Craig was scary with a capital suh in that Miss Russia outfit tonight..... :shocking:
Its nice to see Science and Orlaith trying so hard (and succeeding) to get the synchronised swimming moves right too....
sayangmouse 15-07-2005, 05:37 PM Science just wants someone to talk to (like Derek). But surrounded by intellectual vaccums he resorts to talking to himself.
Thats why there have been moments of clarity between Derek and him, also Eugene and him, when he recognises something of more interest than "look at me".
If I could spend one minute with Science I would say "two words Science, ATTENTION SPAN, you need to work on it. Listen, and encourage the opinions you appreciate to hear, and ask them to listen to yours, then you will start to discover a new world of interactive discussion with others".
He's a little far off, and it probably comes from spending his whole life with people who have nothing to say, so he's developed his self-entertaining persona to block out the drudgery, but its become a self-defeating habit now. I really hope he and Derek get back togehter again, they NEED each other.
C'mon Derek....girrim a 'ug
maxine 15-07-2005, 09:40 PM Derek seemed genuinely pleased and excited at the twist tonight.
Dolores 15-07-2005, 09:41 PM Derek seemed genuinely pleased and excited at the twist tonight.

maxine 15-07-2005, 09:43 PM Derek seemed genuinely pleased and excited at the twist tonight.
Oops in my excitement I've posted in Science's thread.
Well, while I'm here I might as well just say that I loved Science's reactions tonight. First, his speech to camera after the twist was announced, and second making his decision to ditch 'kinky pinky' cos he needs Moloko for his plaits. I think he's my favourite now.
Dolores 15-07-2005, 09:44 PM in the words of Matt Lucas ....oooooh 'e's gorgeous! I love him a little bit more everytime I see him!
Andrea 15-07-2005, 09:49 PM Definately Max, Science's reaction to the camera was classic.
I love him more and more these days.
He is my man to win this thing.
Pandora 15-07-2005, 09:56 PM To be honest, I thought he made a bit of a Hollywood epic about the whole thing.... :bag:
Dolores 18-07-2005, 10:36 PM He annoys the beejeebus out of me during the programme, but come the end of it, the others have wound me up to the hilt and I find myself desparately wanting him to win!
He winds everyone up a treat. OK OK he is an obnoxious, overpowering, self opinionated **** ... but that's still a helluva lot better than the rest of them!! (Although Anthony is the exception ... but come on Anthony's reactions are getting slower and slower by the day!!).
I still have a big soft spot for Science too. He is so loud and must be hell to be around all day everyday, but he is still so entertaining ...I loved the 'if your happy and you know it clap your hands' sketch....before it was destroyed by Orlaith as ranted sounding like Ian Paisley.."Science, shud up no000yyyyy"
maxine 19-07-2005, 07:01 AM He annoys the beejeebus out of me during the programme, but come the end of it, the others have wound me up to the hilt and I find myself desparately wanting him to win!

I feel much the same as you about Science, Dol. I would love Craig to be up against Science and lose. Who does he think he is?
As for Anthony, I think he's trying too hard now.
Minklemar 19-07-2005, 11:00 AM Science is my favourite now.....a couple of things have made up my mind........
1. When he was in the kitchen with Makosi trying to show her the bumble bee
2. He doesn't bitch
3. When Orlaith and (I think) Vanessa or maybe it was Makosi were slagging off Eugene he disagreed with them and said that Eugenes a sweet guy.
4. I love it that he can get such a furious reaction from the others, no-one else can wind everyone up like that.
I'd also like to see Craig and Science up together and for Craig to go - Craig is my least favourite housemate.
The other night he was saying to Science 'you don't know who I am and what I can do, I'm a system lord' thy guy is an idiot with his head rammed so far up his own harris after surviving the first eviction that he thinks he's invincible!
Science to win!!!
isleofweather 19-07-2005, 11:58 AM even after his sillyness last night I have a lot of love left for Keiran. He is a nice guy who has a big front in an attempt to protect homself. His Dad must have built it up for him, its a seige mentality. When he gets older and realises that life aint so hard as he thinks he should mellow into a nice chap. He has a soft side. Him and Anthony should be the last 2. :boxing:
Pandora 19-07-2005, 12:52 PM Without Science in the house, it would be boring. Personally five minutes in his company and I would want to be elsewhere but he IS a good contestant.
His wind up personality is so funny.
His way of winning arguments, by simply not taking a breath and yelling louder than anyone else is hillarious.
He shows his true side in the diary room when all the aggression and front leave him.....
Craigs face if he was up against Science and lost !!! Oh lordyyyyyy :w00t:
Bonsai 19-07-2005, 01:01 PM His way of winning arguments, by simply not taking a breath and yelling louder than anyone else is hillarious.
Thats what annoys me about him to be honest - the fact that you could never win an arguement.
sayangmouse 19-07-2005, 02:21 PM He's getting a bit exhausting at times. Just shouting and not stopping talking doesn't actually win any arguments, it just clears the room. It starts to feel like watching the same action movie over and over again, and I'm starting to pine for dialogue.

Yes, although its entertaining to watch him clear a room or wind up the likes of Derek; if I were in the House and he was mid rant, without taking a breath and yelling at his usual 160 decibels, Id be tempted to grab him around the throat with both hands and squeeze.
His betting is 3/1 at the moment though....... amazing!
Pandora 20-07-2005, 05:17 PM Anyone hear Derek in the diary room say, "Science amongst many other things, has personal hygiene issues....." Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww. :bag:

Paddy Power now has Science favourite to leave!
I don't get it. The biggest poll I've seen is 62% voting out Orlaith, 38% Science, which hardly makes him favourite.
Lets see if he shoots himself in the foot before Friday!
(ps anyone know how to put up a Science vs Orlaith poll on the forum? I've tried and it doesn't come out right)
