View Full Version : Pedicure!
I have been given a gift voucher for a luxury pedicure as a present and I have booked the appointment for Thursday but I am a little apprehensive as I have never had one before due to the fact I don't really like my feet being touched.
So I was wondering if anyone who has had one before, could tell me what they actually do to your feet?
Critique 30-05-2005, 04:47 PM Ahem ... when I went to Champneys (does that sound posh or what) I had my first ever pedicure.
It was lovely, I sat in what looked like a dentist type chair with one of those footspa things and relaxed with my feet in lovely warm water. After a little soak they rub in some nice softening cream and then put them back into the water again. Out they come again and dried and more nice cream massaged in. After that I had my toe nails painted. I'd never had them painted before and it was really nice.
I love having my feet massaged or stroked though so I found it delicious. Not sure how you would fare if you don't like having them touched though ILS.
Well I am not going anywhere that posh Crit, just the beauty salon at the local leisure centre but you have just confirmed what I feared, that it would be like you have described!
Oh well I will have to just bite the bullet!
If you're ticklish, isn't it going to be a little tricky ILS? You definitely will need to bite something.
The last time anyone went to near my feet they ended up in the emergency dept (and not because of the stink lol)

I think you could be right
Bella 30-05-2005, 05:18 PM I got a pedicure when I was heavily pregnant and I hate getting my feet touched but this was lovely. My feet tingled on the way home and they felt so fresh and clean! Also when I was pregnant I had some reflexology, I got this when I was 5 days over my due-date and Abbie was born the following day! Again, it was a really nice experience and once or twice I felt myself drifting off.
Go for it, you will really enjoy it. In fact I feel like booking myself in for a little bit of pedicure and reflexology.........I might just do that!
Let us know how you get on, ILS. It is a great time to get it done with what appears to be the start of the good weather and your little toesies will be on show!
I love having my feet massaged.
They also should get rid of any hard skin and cut your toe nails and file and polish.
I don't think it will be ticklish if you ask them to be quite firm when they massage.

Thanks for the tip bob, I will mention I hate having my feet touched when I go! I normally paint my toenails myself (I always have painted toes as I feel naked without polish on them) but it will be nice to have them done properly!
I hate people to even see my feet, on holiday I was that sad English bloke who wore socks with sandals.
Sadly, I forgot to take my tea towel :(
The only pedicure I would have is in a dark room so they couldn't see my feet
Ceridwen 30-05-2005, 06:07 PM I have had several perdicures, I love them.
They will bathe your tootsies first, then do the nails and scrape the hard skin off them. After that they pop them back in for a soak then massage in the foot cream.
They use a firm stroke so it really shouldn't tickle at all.
It's LOVELY.
I feel about 10 years old after every pedicure I have, they make your feet so light and fresh, and beautifully painted. It is a real treat!
My only tip ils - is to sit for hours afterwards and then put your shoes on or wear open toed sandals ... I often leave The Spa with bare feet and drive home with no shoes on, just so I don't smudge any polish they put on.
I am pretty ambivalent about my feet, they get me from A to B, I am not too happy about their appearance - but when I have had a pedicure I could happily do a foot photo shoot for Vogue, that is how confident my feet feel!
Enjoy it, I am sure you will like it!

I bet you were a hit with the girlies :ninja:
No, but her grandma thought I was cute :D

I see you like the older woman - looks like your lucks in
ding ding!
I have to go for mature women, what with men being so much more mature than women and all...

Well yes, you wouldn't want some silly little girl now, would you?
Coastie 30-05-2005, 09:06 PM You wouldn't catch me having a pedicure....people have lost vital parts of their anatomy touching my feet.....I can seem like a sleeping baby kitten and the instant someone touches my feet I become the raging beats from hell!
I love them ils...your feet feel so soft more comfortable to walk on. You'll be suprised at how much hard skin you carry around.
As flip says, take some flip flops or open toed that you can get on without smudging. The polish will last for weeks if you don't smudge.
Can we have a picture please.
Bonsai 31-05-2005, 09:24 AM There is no way i could have a pedicure  If someone touched my feet i would shoot across the room in shock and spasms of laughter. My feet are, without doubt the tickliest part of my body, and it would be a complete waste for me to have this done.
Gelastic 31-05-2005, 02:39 PM Pedicures sounds quite nice after reading all these posts.
I've never even had a manicure though, perhaps I should start there :D
tigger 31-05-2005, 02:50 PM I would love to have a pedicure. I just love my feet being touched, it's almost orgasmic.
Well I bit the bullet and survived.....
It was ok actually, it didn't tickle one bit!
I can't say I enjoyed it though, it was just ok. The wax bootees were very strange though! And I now have very pink toenails!
Ceridwen 03-06-2005, 11:01 AM Next time I will volunteer to go in your place. :bag:
