If people aren't watching Big Brother, surely they wouldn't be in a part of a forum dedicated to BB, reading about it?!?!:ninja:

I haven't watched any since the opening night, but I have been too busy. I might catch up on it later this week, although I really have lost the urge for it. It might return though, so don't count me out fully!

I've fallen away, too. I thought the opening night was wonderful, but then Lesley started waving her chest around and I lost the will to watch. I might get back into it later on, though.

I don't know what it is with you guys, this thread is about Big Brother so surely it should be in the Big Brother Forum, not in chit chat .... :p

I would say that people like my Outlaws, who decry BB as rubbish and say they will NEVER watch it are kind of missing the point.

We all love to watch and criticise other and we all do it - it is human nature and it is why soaps are so popular. To not watch would say far more about you than to watch

Can't say I really agree with you there, IOW. To not watch merely means that the subject matter does not interest you. For example, I do not watch documentaries about the internal combustion engine because it does not interest me.

I am not watching it either.
Hurray.
I've never seen it...AND even better...I don't have the tv station that it is on so hopefully I will never see it....even by accident.
yay.
(I am still going to read all these threads and things tho', because yiz are all mad!)

Yes but my issue there would be if you said that you were not watching that documentary as it "was rubbish"

Well I don't ususally look at it until a few have left as I can't stand all the noisy me,me,me bit that goes on while they all jockey for position.Having said that, after reading the posts in this section I went to the website to have a look........and where do they get all these strange people? And why do they think that wearing as little as possible keeps them in? Remeber Jason in the thong entering the house??????

LOL ILS, are you 'not' watching Big Brother again hehe.

You'd be proud of me, I saw 10 minutes of it last night and didn't even recognise four of the housemates. That's not to say I won't watch it when I get the chance and as soon as I do, I'm sure I'll get drawn in. So I don't know whether I count! :)

Well I couldn't say it was rubbish because, even though I don't find the subject matter interesting, it is at least informative and factual. BB, however, is not. That does not mean it is not entertaining, because many people find it so. However, people who don't find it so could be forgiven for calling it rubbish because it performs no educational or life-enhancing function whatsoever.

You said to not watch would say far more about you. I don't see how. It simply means that you find other things more interesting.

I beg to differ here me old chumness...it really gives you an exceptional insight into social interactions and body language. It is an Anthropologist's dream. INFACT the idea was born by a Dutch anthropologist 7 years ago.

Akchooooooally it was in an article I read written by Desmond Morris.

I will leave Charlie Sunshine to answer the last bit.

ILS, obviously by your nickname, you are a big fan of Survivor. What is "Survivor" if it isnt Big Brother on a desert island? (or am I getting it mixed up with Shipwrecked, which was also a total bag of crap).

Mostly, they were just given rice to eat and had to catch or win the rest!

Don't forget that in Survivor2 they were given tarpaulin to help build a shelter - something which, imo, totally undermined the theme of the show!

I'm pleased to announce that I'm not watching Big Brother. :-)

After the first series (which was fabulous and can't be topped) for me it just went down hill.
Now although I'm not watching, I'm up at all kinds of unusual times due to baby, so occasionally I'll put the TV on as Edie likes bit of back ground noise. So I have seen this bunch of useless no hopers.
If you think about it, reality TV started around six years ago, when this years contestants were mostly teenagers, so they've grown up with reality TV and Big Brother. To them it must seem like normal behaviour.
Being the loudest, the most vulgar, exposing the most flesh, "speaking your mind" are all seen (by them) as being positive atributes that anybody would be proud of.
I've also watched quite a lot of celebrity love island as naively, I though that although celebs were involved, it just might involve some survivor like challenges. But no!
No wonder the younger generation are so out of control.
If these so called celebs are the role models.

Interesting point...that hadn't occured to me. I suppose being on BB is the equivalent to gettingon Top of the Pops in my day.
