View Full Version : Football - a truly boring sport
Gelastic 04-06-2005, 08:24 AM I don't like it. Not even men in shorts can make me!
It's pointless and annoying and keeps invading my TV.
What did I do in a past life to have to suffer it...
Gel - I am with you 110% on this. There is just no point in it at all. It messes up Coronation Street schedule, it spoils, an otherwise, lovely Saturday afternoon and then interferes with real world events on the news. Ban it forever!!!
Goodness me you girls have NO taste!
Football is a wonderfull game, fast, furious and exciting....... and better still it is played by fit men :naughty:
Dolores 04-06-2005, 10:26 AM Goodness me you girls have NO taste!
it's for BOYS!!!!
Gel this thread is out of order! I bet you have never actually sat down and watched a game. You'd be surprised how exciting it can be!
Bella 04-06-2005, 06:45 PM I would agree a little - I find domestic, Premier league very, very boring plus I get annoyed at the amount of money they are paid for kicking a football around. I get annoyed that most of the British teams are full of foreign players therefore gives little chance to the National sides getting anywhere in competitions. However, I do find the Euro Champions exciting and you have to admit the Liverpool/AC Milan game was brilliant and cast your minds back to the Man U/Bayern Munich when Man U practically won it in stoppage time.
I find most of the guys who play though thuggish and loutish, their behaviour on the pitch is disgusting with their swearing, cheating, and aggresiveness not to mention their spitting. And then there is their off-the-pitch antics, gone are the days when a footballer was just that a footballer earning a fairly decent salary, now a days they think they are a cut above everyone earning obscene amounts of money. Yes, some of them can kick a ball very good, but let's face it most of them will be as thick as mince! :ninja:
Also I do think that football does cause a lot of voilence within the public, you don't see loutish behaviour at rugby matches or motorsports etc, it seems that football brings out the worst in people. And even though it is the minority that probably cause, it is a big minority that bring misery to others. It is only a game after all!
Cookie 04-06-2005, 08:48 PM Wooo i agree, football is horrible, not only is it totally boring but it turns perfectly nice blokes into noisy irritating 'lads' :glare: . Also blokes try and make out that there is some hidden aspect to the game...'ah you wouldnt understand'....like hello its a bunch of blokes kicking a ball about a field trying to get it into a net....that is all! :ranting: ...ahem soz

That really sums it up, Cookie! I don't get the moods that guys.....or girls fall into just because their team doesn't win.......it's a game, some you win, some you lose get it over it! Oh, I hate when they blame the referee, how much of a cop-out is that? Not going to mention any teams though! ;) :bag:
Andrea 04-06-2005, 10:22 PM  Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo:ohmy:
How could you all.

I did once and I even went to a game, and froze to bits. The mass hysteria affect doesn't stop it from being boring :kid: :kid:
Patsy 05-06-2005, 05:48 PM Sorry, I don't understand what this thread is about.

Well you support Arsenal, of course you don't...... :naughty:
Buzz runs and hides behind the claret and blue flag and hopes that Patsy is in a good mood and doesn't hit her too hard this time...

It is precisely because I support Arsenal that I don't understand this thread. Patsy realises that Cat was right about Buzz.
Bella 05-06-2005, 06:14 PM Although I have to say that cricket is more boring than football!! Cricket to me is a bunch of over-grown, over-educated men playing rounders but thought they would call it cricket to make much more appealling! Someone please tell WTF is cricket all about?
Gelastic 05-06-2005, 07:25 PM good point Bella, although if I had to play, Cricket looks a bit easier :D

Don't know if I fancy the cucumber sandwiches though! :sick
Cookie 06-06-2005, 09:50 AM hehe yeah i think ppl start yelling and jumping around to try and make it all seem more interesting. Ive also watched quite a few footy games...my dad is a footyfan...is v v dull. England games are okay, but often end up watching the 1st bit wandering off for about 45mins and coming back for the end :bored:
If you don't like football, go and watch a non-premier league side play at the start of the season (so it's warm, so you don't have weather to complain about - though there's just something about standing up in the rain which makes a games so much more fun... got to sit down these days though!) try to enjoy it, you may find it surprisingly easier than you expected. If you just track the progress of a local side and go to the odd game you will get into it. Just try it next season.

Good point. In that case, armchair channel surfing is the only way to go.

Good advice Flyo, and it might work, so in the interests of retaining my football dislike I'm going to have to not try it just in case :D
Gel - as you live in Wick I'm not surprised you find football boring - I mean I've seen Wick Academy "play"
