View Full Version : Survivor and IAC fans - MAJOR news !!
Haydon 18-11-2004, 09:24 PM Digital Spy are reporting that ITV are planning a new show....
"I'm Not A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!" :)
It's for civilians, will be live, and we get to vote them off! It is currently in the development stage and could be on air early next year. :holiday:
About time too ITV!! We have been asking for this for ages. We said when Survivor was on, it should have been live. :tv_happy:

Do you know Haydon...I had a dream about this...I would be good, but all I could think about was...who would look after my children.
I will be going in no jungle.
What fantastic news http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/ilovesurvivor/Smilies%20-%20Party/party05.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/ilovesurvivor/Smilies%20-%20Party/party08.gifhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/ilovesurvivor/Smilies%20-%20Party/woohoo.gifhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/ilovesurvivor/Smilies%20-%20Party/party-smiley-020.gif
I do hope it comes off!
Dolores 18-11-2004, 09:39 PM I'm already worried about the title. Can't they attract viewers without using the ubiquitous C word?
I hope it would be for longer than two weeks but not as long as Big Brother (10 weeks).
Still we can live in hope that it will not look too shabby next to Survivor.
Andrea 18-11-2004, 09:41 PM that sound really interesting.
OK which one of us is going on.
I vote Voicey as by then she will be that side of the world anyway:)
Shouldn't this be the name of their current show?
Anyway, sounds like a good idea! Id love to see someone from this MB on it.
Well there are a couple of our members that applied to be on S:UK 2 but were overlooked - I think they would be ideal!

I think for the die hard 'Survivor' fans this could look a little shabby next to it!
Islandman 19-11-2004, 02:01 AM so basically big brother in the jungle? lol
tigger 19-11-2004, 07:02 AM I hope it's good. But I don't know if I think it will be as good as the original Survivor. I loved Tribal Council and the voting, and everything else about it.
maxine 19-11-2004, 07:14 AM How exciting! I hope it comes to something.
Shark_Attacks 19-11-2004, 07:20 AM TBH I couldn't give a damn. Im not keen on the IACGMOOH format and hate the location. Bring back Survivor with tribal council, immunity challenges and the exotic loactions :(
sheoque 19-11-2004, 07:28 AM Hmmm it will need to be different to survivor as the reason why the public did not vote was because it could have been edited unfairley and thus given one competitor more chance of winning than the other, and I am sure there were afew reenactments on the application they said participants where paid a daily rate. On IAC voting is mainly on the tasks and people we already know of if we were to vote on IAC it would be for JSP without consideration for her attitude etc, rambling older women have my vote. We do not know of cntestents who are new on the screen. In order to make the public vote fair I am almost sure it will be more than a 2 or 3 week event. With an agreement that the editing decisions can not be disputed post competition.
karenh 19-11-2004, 07:31 AM I can't get as excited as I would if they were proposing another series of "Survivor", but, it's better than nothing.
Although, as Peej has already pointed out it practically is a show full of nobodies as it is. No-one knows who half of them are!
Voice of reason 19-11-2004, 12:29 PM OK which one of us is going on.
I vote Voicey as by then she will be that side of the world anyway:)
You're just trying to get rid of me aren't you? :wink2:
It sounds great, the irony being that because I'll be living over there I won't be able to see it! I'm going to have to work out this watching stuff online I think.
I agree with Dol though, the title is a bit worrying, why does everything have to have 'Celeb' in it to make it sell?
So, if Granada had a problem with Castaway threatening to sue them because the format of IAC was too much like Survivor, how are proposing to get this one passed without infringing copyright?
I'll believe it when I see it.
Now that the public have got a taste for watching a group of people argue, eat bugs and carry out gross trials, why not relaunch Survivor but with proper advertising?

Good point Nox, Survivor was ahead of its time (in the reality world), if it came back now it would be a hit...they gave up on it too quick. It was certainly the classiest reality show.
You have to give the yanks credit at least they know a good thing when they see it! Survivor is huge over there!
I remember when Survivor was on, many of us wished it could have been a viewers vote that decided who was evicted. But in hindsight, the tribal council where one of their own voted them off, was one of the best parts of the show....
*if we could have voted them off, I for one, would have had Charlotte on constant re-dial *
Why don't they just bring back survivor... it was such an excellent programme and I think it'd work now big bro has... failed for a couple of years... i'm a celebrity is basically celebrity survivor with modifications (which make it worse, but seemed to excite most of the public anyway)...
I have to urge to watch my series 1 video now...
As someone already said it's better then nothing but just bring back Survivor. Maybe they could lure all the viewers in with the naff title and cac camp and then gradually move then to the South China Sea and start playing the old theme tune. They might not notice. It's not going to be the same location and camp is it? That wouldn't work. I will definitely apply as long as it's not a TV studio in the Australian bush. I'll start working out for it now. My mum said to me just the other day "Didn't you like being slim?" I suppose that’s one way of putting it, and yesterday I broke my favourite stool with my lardy, so good timing. Let the training begin! :boxing:
It's a step in the right direction, but to be honest, i don't think it will work.
The idea of I'm A Celeb surely is to have well known names (well, maybe not well-known) go through humiliation to try and impress the viewers and therefore win.
However, Survivor was about Surviving and tactics to further your game, and not about being brave or funny.
The merging of two different (but very similar) concepts just wouldn't work in my opinion, but we'll see!
I love Bob's idea of gradually changing the format from IAC to Survivor and hoping nobody will notice. Give the celebs/non celebs a few lighters to wave around the first week, move them up to sparklers the second week and before you know it they'll be carrying the Survivor torches to tribal council and no one will twig.
Can't see a problem with the theme tune either Bob, shouldn't be that hard to slowly merge the choom choom choom beat of the IAC drums into the Waaaahhaa of Survivor. I think you're on to somethng! :)
