Every morning I seem to notice a new wrinkle and have spent a fortune on all the new creams and lotions that are supposed to hold back time.

Despite the claims made in lavish TV advertisements I haven't found anything that significantly reduces wrinkles.

So do you have a beauty routine or are you just a soap and water person.

Have you found anything that you think makes a difference to how your skin looks and feels?

Let's share.

BTW, not an anti-wrinkle cream but for anyone who wants a bit of a fake tan but is scared of going streaky ( ), Mazza put me on to a brilliant one.

It's by Johnson's called Holiday Skin Body Lotion. Basically just a moisturiser but with a tiny bit of instant tan in it. It's easy to apply and builds up to a nice natural looking tan over a period of time so you don't go orange overnight. If you've already got a holiday tan and want to keep it, this will do that too.

It's been on Special Offer in Boots and Superdrug, buy one get one free.

I rate it 9/10 because my skin felt a bit dry after using it so I still put moisturiser on.

I don't have a beauty regime, Crit, although I know I should. I'm starting to regret it already. However, I do like the sound of this tanning moisturiser. Might take a scoot to Boots today.

Hmmmm that tanning moisturiser sounds great. I think i might look for it too :w00t:

I dont have a definate routine, but i am a big believer in cleanse, tone and moisturise.

I have gotten lazy in my old age, and i tend to use cleansing wipes at night to take my make up off. I cant stand Boots / Superdrugs own, but i love all the others. They take everything off, including mascara.

I then slap on the moisturiser. Im not fussy what i use. I tend to get bought some for Xmas and birthdays - so i use whatever i get. At the moment im using an Oil of Olay night cream, or a clinique one. I also have some eye gel which i use every other night.

In the morning i tend to wipe over my face with toner, and then put on more moisturiser under my make up. Nivea do a great one called something like 'anti shine moisturiser' which works well.

Im not very good at looking after the rest of my skin though, and only remember to slap on body lotion about once a week - if that :ninja:

Every morning I use a face wash, toner and moisturiser.

Nothing expensive, usually Avon or Boots own make. I don't always stick to one brand, I often swap and change, the last one I bought was a Boots skin clear make because it was two for one offer.

I still get spots every now and then, but one day I washed my face with soap and it made my skin feel awful, horribly dry.

Every now and then, when the kids are in the bath I will use a facial scrub and that makes your skin feel lovely and soft.

And I've actually even started taking my make-up off (the odd occasions when I wear it) before I go to bed!

I got some Body Shop fake tan, the light one...and mixed it 50-50 with vaseline intensive care moisturiser...result...a no streak, no orange, slightly 'have you been in the sun?' look.

Best all over moisturiser I think is the Garnier Body Repair with maple sap...sounds revolting but its actually very good, a lot lighter than the Vaseline dermacare range and not greasy or sticky..it works a treat and I have very dry and sensitive skin that often feels itchy ...this stuff is very soothing!

I dont think any anti wrinkle creams, regardless of price, actually do anything significant, so I just use whatevers on special offer. I might go mad and have an eyelift for my 50th :)

I agree I think the beauty industry is so over-rated!! I mean some of the ranges are really expensive and have to say that a lot of it is just like the food stuff, full of chemicals!! I used to buy stuff that was natural from a fab wee on-line store, unfortunately due to EU regulations about using natural products or something like, they have had to re-do their packaging and won't be selling for sometime yet.

I always make sure that the moisturiser I use has SPF of at least 15, and I never use toner, just a good old splash of good old Scottish water!!

I don't really use body lotion but I did use a sample sachet of Cocoa Butter Lotion from the Body Shop the other day and it did make a difference and smelt lovely!

I am going to a Body Shop party tomorrow, so might have a look at their fake tan range!

Well, I've been out and bought my Johnsons Holiday Skin Body Lotion! I got it from Superdrug for 4.99 but it was buy one get one free.

I've only fairly recently been cleansing, toning and moisturising at night. I use Pure and Simple and then Oil of Olay night cream. In the morning I always use nivea. I really ought to moisturize all over though as my skin's getting really dry, especially on my legs.

I really don't have a beauty routine at all.

I use cleansing wipes in the morning and just before I go to bed and that is it! I don't use any moisturiser regulary although I do like to wear a little bit of tescos shimmer moisturiser if I am going out to give me a little colour!

I don't really wear make up, I don't wear any at all unless I am going out and just a little bit of lip gloss and mascara when I go out. Although I don't even need any mascara at the moment as I have just had my eyelashes tinted!

OMG I wouldn't DREAM of not having a routine - I have done so since I was 9 and it must make a difference as I get a lot of compliments about my skin.

I always use a specialist facial wash - Dermalogica Anti Bacterial Skin Wash. Then I tone using Clinique Clarifying Lotion 3. I then use an eye cream (Dermalogica Multi Vitamin Power Firm is extraordinary - it will revamp saggy baggy eyes in a week). I then use a skin brightener, currently Elizabeth Arden Skin Illuminating Complex, but I also use Estee Lauder Idealist sometimes too. After that I use either a Day or Night Cream depending on the time of day - the very best are Yves St Laurent's - Nuit Intense is incredible stuff and makes a dramatic difference.

I use a gentle eye and lip make up remover (Dermalogica Soothing Eye Make Up Remover is great and doesn't drag the delicate eye around the eye) and then Neutrogena cream cleanser to get the make up off my face, before washing.

Once a week I steam my face for 6 minutes and then use an exfoliating scrub - Clarins Doux Exfoliant is wonderful and you will notice an instant difference. Then I follow with a Dermalogica Skin Refining masque for 10 minutes.

I use Yves St Laurent Total Fitness bust tightening spray on my boobies, Yves St Laurent Total Fitness skin firming complex on my legs and bum, and REN Otto Rose Body cream everywhere else, and use my face moisturiser on my neck.

I also do a weekly body scrub with Clarins Gommage Exfoliant and a daily scrub with one of those scratchy sponge type things.

You can buy Dermalogica and REN products at www.hqhair.com or on E-Bay and Estee Lauder, Yves St Laurent, Clarins and Elizabeth Arden at www.boots.com.

Well, you did ask.

Bloomin eck! How do you find the time to come on here....what do you do..post with one hand and exfoliate with the other!

I have never had any strict routine....only wear a bit of make up on my eyes...have never worn foundation - or lipstick come to that. I take my make up off with toilet paper and baby lotion (cheapy sainsburies own) wash with water then slap on a pile of Nivea cream before bed and first thing in the morning - after splashing with water. I use a facial scrub about 3 times a week.

The end.

You know Ceri, before I had kids I did have a strict routine. Now I find it hard pushed to even have a bath on my own! I do still wash, tone (cold water- honestly toner is over-rated) and moisturise, my skin gets really tight if I don't use a moisturiser. I am using Vitaman E cream from the Body Shop at the moment and put a tinted moisturiser on top occassionally. I could not leave the house without a flick of mascara and a splodge of vaseline on my lips! I use a heavier base at night-time, I still have this cream called Angel Cream that I bought from the Natural Range, it is fantastic and smells lovely. I do exfoliate twice a week and do try to use a deep-cleansing mask at least once a month.

Oh and I got the Johnsons Holiday Lotion from Boots but it wasn't Buy One Get One Free!!! Must check that out!

I only wear mascara. I use baby lotion to take it off. I use water and distilled witch hazel and have also had compliments about my skin.

Thank you.

I have tried minimalist skin care but it made a very marked difference - my skin was dull, dry and flaky and wrinkles start to show. Also my eyes get puffy and I have an uneven, pimply texture to my skin. The same happens when I choose cheap stuff.

Some people are fortunate enough to be naturally beautiful but I am not one of them.

I use a gentle soap and a gentle shampoo in my morning shower and my afternoon/evening bath, and I shave for four or five months of the year. My skin is good.

Before I get me coat, though, I do have a serious point. Several times over the years I've heard women complain about the fact that old men, who've done nothing special to their faces all their lives, often have such lovely skin nevertheless. I submit that's because we do nothing special.

Coat.

I disagree....I really don't think all this crap is necessary..I really don't.
Perhaps I have just not reached the age yet where it is, :bag: but I never do anything 'special' and I never get spots or dry skin or anything.....

My sister gave me the best bit of advice ever....when I was about 13 and started to experiment with make-up, she told me not to wear too much as what ever you get used to even at that early age you can never go without. God bless you B.

Also, surely if you are not messing with your skin so much it dosn't need that much treatment. Just a thought.

Dab....wait for me......

Ive always used Body Shop's cocoa butter products. Cocoa butter soap is the best ever. It leaves your skin soft and refreshed and not tight at all. I use Boots own brand of Eye Make Up Remover as its creamy.

Body Shops Cocoa butter moisturiser actually smells of chocolate and is superb.

As for eye creams for wrinkles - I use Garnier ultra lift eye gel. No idea if its working if it will prevent wrinkles in the future, but Im giving it a go.

I have never worn foundation

I haven't either. I guess I must be really lucky to have good skin. My mum and my nan had good skin too, so it must run in the family!

I don't do much as I can't be bothered. I use a facial scrub at night and a bit of anti wrinkle cream that lies about the anti bit. I don't wear much make up as I think it drags the skin down and I don't need any help doing that.

I only ever wear mascara and a touch of eye shadow if I am going somewhere special so that's not often. Tried a bit of lippy when we went to Pompey but the fags take it off too quickly so that will sit in my make up bag probably never to be used again.

The only time I have ever worn lippy was when I was getting married. I purchased a fetching shade from Boots with the help of a kind assistant.....then took it back to following week to complain as it kept coming off moaned I!. The helpfull assistant then sold me this stuff that was like clear nail varnisih...I walked round for a week lips puckered and starched ...much to Mr Cats amusement. Never again, stick to chap stick now.

I love make up. I dont wear oodles, but i do like wearing it.

This is my routine in the morning. Moisturiser, rimmel concealer under the eyes, Revlon face tint (isnt really a foundation, but gives skin a nice glow), Clinique face powder. After that i use lots of different brands. I put on eye shadow in a neutral tone for daytime. Then eye liner in a chocolate brown, then chocolate brown eye shadow over the eye liner. Then lots and lots of mascara, then blusher, then lippy and finished off with a small squirt of perfume.

The above takes about 5 mins as ive had the same routine for yonks. Maybe im stuck in a time wharp

If im going out in the evening my makeup doesnt really alter, although i might choose a more obvious eye shadow.

At the weekends i still need my mascara as i cant live without it.

For years and years I have sworn by E45 face wash and cream moisturiser, but since hitting 40, it just wasn't doing the face job as well as I hoped.

So I have changed to ROC, both eye and day creams - I love these and they seem to be working, although the lines are still appearing I can't help them without the aid of bottox and I ain't going there.

There is a miracle cream however, it is called Midnight Secret by Guerlain, I bought a bottle of it when I was young free single and loaded - I had to be as it cost about 75 pounds - but it really did work. I now periodically ask the Guerlain girls for samples of it - just to try it [pretending I have never used it before but have heard of it]. But I swear if you use it after a late night - you wake up in the morning with the skin of a 17 year old!! I don't think you are meant to use it every night [well at that price you'd need to be a millionaire to do so] - but for the odd late night, or important day the next day - it is a MIRACLE!!

I never use soap to wash with though, still my old faithful E45 face wash, and then tone with a non alcoholic toner and then my ROC face cream and eye cream.

And I am a dirty hag - cos I never ever wash my make up off when I go to bed - I always wake up looking like a panda!!

I was at a Body Shop Party last night and quite honestly I could have spent a fortune!! I have a "Love Your Body" card to use at the shop where you can get discounts, freebies and a free gift on your birthday! It is all reasonably priced and it's a bit like fair-trade goods as some of your money is going to support poorer communities.

I have booked a party for next year and can't wait! And can't wait to get all my goodies next week!
