View Full Version : Anyone know anthing about York?
Tigereye 10-06-2005, 12:16 PM The boss is going for a weekend in York, flying into Leeds Bradford Airport.
I have tried various sites to organise transfers, either by rail or coach with no success. Does anyone know this neck of the woods ? Is it possible to get from York to the Leeds airport by one or the other?
National express just says no. very helpful!
Many fanks.

Patsy 10-06-2005, 12:20 PM Get back in that bar!
Coastie 10-06-2005, 12:22 PM Get back in that bar!
No. :mad2:
Patsy 10-06-2005, 12:26 PM TE, I apologise for the invasion of your very valid thread by my little wet friend. She's very excitable you know.
Coastie, go away and leave the nice lady alone.
Coastie 10-06-2005, 12:28 PM No.
(In my defence I miss read the thread title...thought it was about Yorkie bars....see where my minds at can't you!)
see where my minds at can't you!)
Truck drivers..?
TE, there's lots of good Viking archeaology there. :fireman:
Patsy 10-06-2005, 12:31 PM And a great railway museum. And it was one of the four major roman cities in England.
Coastie 10-06-2005, 12:32 PM It has a Cathedral too!
(see I do know something about York!)
Patsy 10-06-2005, 12:35 PM And what's it called Coastie? No googling now.
Patsy 10-06-2005, 12:38 PM She's googling, I can tell.
Coastie 10-06-2005, 01:20 PM And what's it called Coastie? No googling now.
York Cathedral!
Patsy 10-06-2005, 01:31 PM Dabby, would you like to tell her?
Tigereye 10-06-2005, 01:56 PM well you lot, I've told the boss I can't organise his transfers 'cos you won't help me.....
surely to god you can get a bus from the airport to York - but all the googling isn't throwing anything up....... He's to get to a place called Harome.....for a party no less. swine.
I'll tell him to visit the feckin cathedral and the museum, but I've got to get him there first :wallbash:
Andrea 10-06-2005, 01:57 PM Well I think it's bloomins terrible the name of it:w00t:
Harome is about 35 to 40 miles from Leeds/Bradford Airport so he might be best to hire a care TE!
Tigereye 10-06-2005, 02:41 PM I agree, but for some reason he doen't want to  !!
Think I'll just tell him to roll up his trousers and stick his thumb out........
Patsy 10-06-2005, 02:46 PM Would this help? Or is it just for your amusement?
Coastie 10-06-2005, 02:49 PM York Minster!
TE.....tell your boss to get a taxi! :glare: In fact give me his number and I'll tell 'im if ya want! :w00t:
Tigereye 10-06-2005, 02:52 PM Would this help? Or is it just for your amusement?
LOL!! Bit of both!!
aargees 10-06-2005, 03:23 PM Have you had a look at the Leeds Airport website?
www.lbia.co.uk/
That should answer most of your questions - avoid renting a car in York - traffic is horrendous......
Oh, the grand old Duke of York,
Andrea 10-06-2005, 04:25 PM He had ten thousand men:w00t:
He marched them up to the top of the hill and then he marched them down again Why? :shocking:
And when they were up they were up.
Coastie 10-06-2005, 04:38 PM And when they were down the were down...
And when they were only halfway up...
Andrea 10-06-2005, 04:44 PM The grand old Duke of York realised what a bunch of tossers he'd chosen:w00t:
What I would like to know is why the swear filter lets you say tosser but not ar*se?
Ceridwen 10-06-2005, 04:49 PM And you can say prat and bitch.
Andrea 10-06-2005, 04:50 PM What I would like to know is why the swear filter lets you say tosser but not ar*se?
I wondered when I typed it whether it would come out, oh well, mine is not to question why. :w00t:
What I would like to know is why the swear filter lets you say tosser but not ar*se?
Because on Shrove Tuesday when we may wish to discuss the merits or otherwise of tossing pancakes, it's only reasonable that we should be able to describe those that do toss as tossers!
Whereas I cannot think of any other use for the word ar*se ;)
BTW - what's this got to do with York?
Ceridwen 10-06-2005, 04:53 PM BTW - what's this got to do with York?
Absolutely nothing, a bit like the rest of this thread.
But you can't say sh*t .......
Whereas I cannot think of any other use for the word ar*se ;)
Well, "ar*sehole" of course! :)
Ceridwen 10-06-2005, 04:59 PM You can say ********!
You can say ********!

Tigereye - Leeds Bradford Airport is sort of in the middle of nowhere, but it will have taxi and car rental. The last time I was there, I wasn't aware of any rail links.
I think your boss needs to get a taxi. And I know he doesn't want to hire a car - but that is another option.
It is that or the bus I am afraid!!
Fee For All 10-06-2005, 08:34 PM He's probably gone now, but I say taxi from airport to Leeds station, (it was about £12 a couple of years ago) and then there are frequent trains to York (about 30 mins journey)
Marmoset 10-06-2005, 09:02 PM I would agree Fee, theres nowhere to park in York anyway :)
M
TE this is my neck of the woods!
Until a few months ago you could take the 747 from the airport to Bfd Interchange and then take a train, but for some reason they knocked the airport bus off, folk are going mad, especially my parents as they can't get back from the pub at night.
I suggest you take a taxi to Leeds train station (not far) and then the direct route to York
Tigereye 13-06-2005, 03:46 PM Thanks for all your help. And ramblings...::wallbash:
It's this coming weekend, and his mate is going to drive from Hanscomb / Harome to pick him up now.........
So now I don't have to do nuffink :angel_not
Good on ya TE!! LEast done soonest mended - he can't get into any scrapes and blame you now can he??
Is he going to Royal Ascot per chance??
