The most beautiful short book I ever read is I Heard The Owl Call My Name by Margaret Craven.

Shall we wait until say Monday 20th June and then do a poll to see which book is most popular? With the poll closing on Friday 24th June?

yes doll that sounds fab!! im quite fancying reading piers morgan's autobiography for some pure trash.

also sleepers is an ACE book, the film is not bad but the book is much more graphic and descriptive and you really feel the anger the 4 young boys feel. i cant remember who is is by, michael lorenzo or something like that?

I wouldnt buy Piers Morgans book on sheer principal - the low life sleeeeeeeeeeeze bag!!!

As for Sleepers - brilliant book - I read it in a day and cried most of the way through it - I also have the movie! and I think you are right about the author Kooks!

I agree Kooks, loved the film and loved the book, wasn't it based on a true story? I cried too at both, it just shows how a simple misadventure can change your life forever............

So that is my suggestion. Do we have a poll yet, I haven't seen one so am assuming the answer is no!

Shall I do one?

I like the idea of reading Sleepers.
I've read this and it game me nightmares for weeks..I still have horrid flash backs about varius scenes.

Very disturbing.

I have read Captain Correlli's but it was over 3 years ago so would quite happily read it again...see if I understand any of the first bit about the war manouvers this time.

Hi..I was just wondering:How does the book club work?
Do you have to sign up to it or anything, or can anyone just read the book and join in the conversation?
Thanks...A.D.

Wasn't there some debate about whether or not Sleepers is based on a real account? This is not a relaxing read for me, fact or fiction though.

Yes there was Tonee, even though it was spun as a true story, apparently it wasnt - allegidly..I dont' really know.

I just found it an unpleasant disturbing read, some visions stayed with me for months..some are still there...especially the scene involving the mothers gift parcel and rosary beads. Like you true or not...not my idea of a relaxing read.
