Hi Mars!

I will do my utmost to try and come & see you. I'll have a look on the website to see what it is about! I was up the High Street today and it was mega busy! We are going to Cavalcade on Sunday. The Tattoo had it's rehersal yesterday and it kicks off in style tonight! Once again I didn't manage to get tickets, I am definitely going to book early next year!

I'll look out for you if we manage up!

Mars!!! Hi!! I was all geared up to come and see on Wednesday, the only day I could really make and you had your day off!! I thought I might be able to make it on Thursday but I couldn't manage it.

Were you in the parade, if so I might have seen you! :w00t: I hope you enjoyed your stay in Edinburgh. We were at a show today "Flipped to the Funny Side"! It was quite bizarre to say the least! :bag:

Here's hoping that I may get to see you next year!

Hi All!

Just got back from Edinburgh this afternoon had a fantastic time!

Flip, yes it is my second fringe, but it was as fantastic as the first!

Got to our venue (which was a night club) every morning about half 11. We stayed at a caravan site just outside of Edinburgh. Once there, we had to unload and construct seating, set and props every day. This was because the venue is still used as a nightclub throughout the Fringe, so we had to leave it ready for buisiness every night.

Once everything was built, my cast went out fly-leafleting. This year, our group took six shows, which were performed every day (except Wednesday, sorry Bella!). So aside from advertising our shows (which we often did in costume :w00t: ), we had others to do to.

We performed at half past five, and got good sized audiences (not dropping below about 28 per day and selling out three days), and very nice reviews (which i'll add to the bottom of this post). At about 7:15 my cast were usually found in the pub :naughty:, until about 9:45 when we would head back to the night club to deconstruct and get the nightclub ready. We would then head back to the caravans and get ready for the next day.

Thatnks for trying to come and see me Bella, very much appreciated! Sorry you could only make it on my day off! The show sounds very weird, but thats what the Fringe is about, I regularly saw people advertising their show via a fake pile of poo, and a clockwork man!

Unfortunately, I probably won't be going next year. Our company has decided to not go again seen as this was their tenth anniversary, and things are getting too complicated. Plus, I have now finished my Theatre Studies A Level course, which this group was linked too, and am not continuing with Theatre, so peformance oppurtunities will be scarce to say the least.

I am, however going back on Saturday, as I have come home on my own to get my A Level results on Thursday. The rest of the group goes home on Monday, so will get a nice weekend out of it!

Ive got some pictures to share with you, but they are on disposable, and aren;t developed yet, so you will have to wait a few days!

Reviews:

Teechers

In the ten years that Harland Hamstrings have been attending the Fringe I suppose they have used more John Godber plays than any other playwright, and they have dusted off Teechers once again as one of their 5 pieces this year.

If anyone by now doesn't know the play, three actors, this time Lorna Kay, Andy Masters and Lucy Overton play the variety of dysfunctional staff and kids with ability that belies their youth.

Harland wouldn't be Harland without the Hunter touch and sure enough they are their again, not least of all with the inclusion of a dance sequence.

I understand they are on their final visit as a group, and I for one will miss what has become somewhat of a Fringe institution, so you better catch them while you can.

If you fancy taking a chance, go and see Teechers. The cast are very enthusiastic and perform well. There is something for everyone in this end of term romp through the eyes of three school levers from an under achieving school. Definately worth seeing

John Godber's plays are never better interpreted than by people from Hull, which is why this is the show you should see if you were hoping to catch one of his plays at the fringe. Beyond the authentic accents, the cast clearly 'get' what the play is all about...perhaps it's even a little too close to home! Come along ready to laugh your socks off!

Very good (the subway) 16 Aug 2005

Superb performances from the three young actors who show an enormous commitment to the play by pulling this off. There's a perfectly mimed, refreshing Rocky Horror interlude. Shame the cast didn't come back on for one last cutain call. They deserved it.

Mars Bar?

Woah fab reviews.

I loved the comment from Stuart McNiff [nooooo surely not a real name??] - 'school levers from an under acheiving school!' Was that a play on words from young McNiff or I wonder was McNiff one of Godber's characters?? We will never know - irrelevant really just hilarious.

And the other two critics - they obviously understood the genre and wholeheartedly applauded 'Teechers' - well done you. Shame about next year though - the Fringe is just so .... The Fringe!!!!:w00t:

By the way, forgot to say:

On my visit, I saw Vannesa Feltz (who was a little rude) and.....

Zoe from Survivor!

She was sat drinking in a pub, if i remember correctly, she was an actress, so maybe she was in something!
