View Full Version : Howdy y'all!
tigger 08-08-2005, 06:53 PM Hey everyone! I hail you from the deep hot and humid south of the USA. It is like living in a sauna here. I had totally forgotten. I've also been dodging lots of snakes and spiders and other undescribable buggy things.
So far it is going good. We have been out on the water with jet skis several times. But I've had to slow down the last couple of days due to some ankle and leg problems. :(
Have been missing catching up with everyone and have been wondering what's going on with BB. I'm at my sis in laws house at the moment, and because they live in the sticks they are on dial up, and I had forgotten how slow it can be. Looking forward to seeing you all when I get home. :)
BTW I survived the flight, albeit with a few tears before take off. Can't say I enjoyed it too much as it got quite bumpy during the landing, due to some massive thunderheads, but it wasn't too bad.
Dolores 08-08-2005, 06:56 PM Dial up!?! how quaint!
I hope you are having a great time ... we will all still be here when you get back!
it's nice to hear from you!
Bella 08-08-2005, 06:57 PM Great to hear from you Tigger! Enjoy the rest of your holiday and make sure you stay on the PC long enough to check out the BB goings on, it will make your hair stand on end!! :w00t:
Patsy 08-08-2005, 06:58 PM Don't envy you the humidity and the creepy-crawlies, but the place and the experience I do. Anywhere near Mississippi, perchance?
Coastie 08-08-2005, 07:00 PM Howdy :bye:
Glad to hear your enjoying yourself dispite the odd ailment (oo that reminds me of another thread..)....
Stay in touch as best ya can and tells us all your adventures on your return!
Hi Tiggs, its great to hear from you and to hear you managed the flight with out too much trouble
Have a fantastic time, give my love to Mr T and the Tigglets
Missing you loads xx
Tiggs - yooo hooo from way across the ocean - I am shouting quite loud, can you hear me??
I am a bit chilly, so I doubt I would mind a wee bit of warmth, even if it does have humidity mixed in. Tiggs if it is any help, the bumpier the landing, or should I say the more thoroughly the captain slams the plane down the better the landing. Although I am not too sure about thunderheads - they sound like a Heavy Metal band or some schoolboy toilet humour!!
Have a wonderful time staying with your family and enjoy the rest of your holiday ... :bye:
karenh 08-08-2005, 08:00 PM Tigger - you are on holiday. We should NOT exist during that time!
jaycee 08-08-2005, 08:09 PM Tigger - you are on holiday. We should NOT exist during that time!

Voice of reason 08-08-2005, 10:03 PM Glad you are ok and survived the flight (see? it's the breathing that does it ;) ) Enjoy your holiday Tigglet :)
maxine 09-08-2005, 07:29 AM Good to hear from you Tigger! Enjoy the rest of your hols!
karenh 09-08-2005, 07:37 AM Edited.
I was trying to make excuses, but awww - forget it. I can't!
There is no way I can remedy the fact that I was really, really, rude to Tigger last night. And I like her!
Sorry Tiggs.
tigger 20-08-2005, 12:53 PM LOL Karen, I was not offended in the slightest, I actually found your comment quite funny. It's so true, but as I did have access to a computer and the kids were swimming and I couldn't, it seemed the only natural thing to do was to come on here and see what was going on. ;)
Well I am back and jet lagged and vow never to set foot on another aeroplane again! (At least for another couple of years anyway). We had the bumpiest flight coming home and I was not amused! :mad2: Especially after the captain said it would be smooth.
We had a great time and it was nice for the kids to catch up with their 40+ cousins. But it's equally good to be home.:)
karenh 20-08-2005, 01:00 PM Good to see you back Tiggs and glad to hear that you had a great holiday.
40+ cousins though  Surely thats a classroom?
No news to tell from this end. There was a bit of a furore last week when Dab decided to slag off one of the members in public, but it fizzled out quickly. Apart from that, same old, same old.
It's good to have you back safe and sound Tiggs
And glad to hear you and your family had a great time
tigger 20-08-2005, 01:30 PM 40+ cousins though  Surely thats a classroom?
.
There might be more than that, but I lost count. Mr tiggs is number nine in a family of ten children, and with five or six children in a few of the families it soon adds up!

You'll need a HUGE turkey at Christmas then! Remembering everyone's name must be a nightmare!
Glad you had a fab time, even though the flight was a bit dodgy! It's good to see you back! :thumbsups:
Dolores 20-08-2005, 04:58 PM Hi Tigger! it's good to see you back. Glad you enjoyed your trip and as lovely as it all was I bet it's nice to be back in your own bed isn't it!http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/15/15_2_128.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZSYYYYYYAXGB)

Andrea 20-08-2005, 08:55 PM glad to hear you had a great time (apart from the flight)
And wow, big family over there.
Did you get to see them all, if you did, did you have any time to yourself:w00t:
Voice of reason 21-08-2005, 12:55 AM Pleased to have you back Tigger, glad you had a good time :)
secrets 21-08-2005, 01:20 AM Welcome back Tiggs.
Can we have some insight into what it's like 'going home' and 'coming home?'
It must be strange having a bit of yourself wanting to be either 'here' or 'there?'
I send cards to my American friends at christmas, it's good to send and recieve them, but it's like two different worlds isn't it?
What do you do differently after coming home?
Is there little things that you change ,for a short while anyway, like food or the way you speak?
SF might have some thoughts on this too.
tigger 21-08-2005, 11:33 AM Interestingly enough Secrets, as I was musing away at the hours of 11pm and 4 am this morning I thought a lot about the differences of here and there. Yes my accent does flip flop somewhat as I lived over there a lot of my adult life and it tends to slip back into a bit of a southern drawl when I am on the phone with a relative or am there visiting. The stomach does take a bit of a gunning with all the fried food they eat down south, (they fry just about everything), but the food has more flavour as it is fresher as Mr tiggs parents live on a farm and everything is fresh and grown there. My favourite is Fried Green Tomatoes. :) I didn't put on any weight, in fact at one point I lost some due to not having much of an appetite. You tend not to when it's like living in a sauna.
I did notice something very interesting that has me somewhat amazed. Kids over there are not very disciplined in that they tend to run havoc through the house, are loud and just basically have a lot of fun without having to 'behave' and act properly as we expect our kids to. But............... they are the most respectful acting children I have ever seen. Everything is yes ma'm, yes sir, etc. If asked to do dishes or clean up they are straight at it and with no arguments or backtalk. They are taught from birth to respect other people, be it adults or children. I noticed it with one instance in a shop. I was pushing the trolley along and a lady with four small girls was coming out of an aisle. She immediately backed up and said excuse me ma'm and told her girls that this lady was here first and she needed to pass (meaning me). I don't know about the rest of England but here in London we would just barge past without thinking about it. I got to thinking about this small thing and how it affects how our children are brought up to regard other people.
msgirl 22-08-2005, 12:04 AM dear tigger-that is one thing about my Southern upbringing people notice right away...the 'yes m'am, no sirs' and the get right in there and do what you are told. we have always been encouraged to run and play with abandon, but when work and respect come up there is no leeway. also, i LOVE, LOVE fried green tomatoes!!!! we always have a releative with a garden, meaning growing fresh veggies and fruits here so we are never without. msgirl
Nice to see you back Tiggs :)
Pandora 23-08-2005, 05:22 PM Good to see you back Tiggs and well done for braving the flight :) xx
