I honestly thought I was going to be pleasantly surprised by Paul??

I thought, despite his bad press, he was going to be a decent, hardworking, 'get up and go' type of guy.

And what do we get?? A wimpy, wet lettuce leaf without a vinagrette dresisng, who screams his way to earth, riding tandem with an experienced sky diver???

Oh I am so disappointed. I like a man to take it like a man, not to got white at the thought, not to scream like a baby adn not to then pretend it was all wine and roses when he has done it without aplomp.

Vote him into the BT trails see and see what the cowardy custard is made of!!!

I quite liked him. He was better looking than I expected and Nancy seemed to like him???

I'm hoping for a James Hewitt (when he appeared in the Games, thought he was hilarious....DING DONG)

My door is open on this one...

I totally agree Flip, this is the only one in there who I'm not to keen on.

as for jumping out of the plane, just get on and do it man!
I thought it would have been him to do the BTT, shame really, get him doing the trials to see what a wimp he is.

And did you hear his wife saying about how she didn't think it was a good idea for him to go into the jungle because there are snakes that are out there who are not in the jungle, after him! Tough, he put himself in that position.

Hehe, I had to laugh when the celebs were doing their personal video pieces from their homes.

Paul was whittering on about how the public will be saying this man is used to living in style, how will he possibly cope in the jungle. I was thinking, that's not what they're saying at all Paul.

Presumably he's there to try and put his tarnished reputation behind him and emerge as a new man in the public's eyes. First impressions are that he's a major whimp.

Cat, it would be nice if Paul Burrell turned into a "Hewitt" but dont hold your breath.

James Hewitt, for his sins, has a certain laconic charm - while Paul Burrell just seems to be a simpering fool with no backbone.

I didn't like him before IAC but after watching tonights programme and live after, I actually do like him and think he's a nice bloke. He's trying hard. My heart went out to him with the skydiving. Anyone who says otherwise is evil. You could see he wasn't putting it on, he was petrified. I don't think he'll win - of course JOE is - but I think he'll do well.

Cat, my mate runs a great site on James. www.jameshewitt.tvheaven.com (http://www.jameshewitt.tvheaven.com) It's fab.

Oh dear Flip! I think you're being so hard on the guy just because he was scared of jumping out of the plane - I think it was quite understandable.

He seemed OK.

As I've said before I find him strangely attractive, but that voice and smugness get on my nerves. Now give him Fran's voice and I think we could be talking about a contender!

I don't have a clue as to why he's there though....

which dozy cow said "I don't like people who make money out of selling stories about Princess Diana" - get a grip love - it's all she's good for now!

Actually, I was pleasantly surprised. SO FAR, I have found him to be quite personable. Far more so than that moaning minny whinge bucket Appleton!!

It's nothing to do with the fact that he sold "secrets" about Diana that bothers me about him. It's just he comes across as a bit smarmy and a "I love me" sort of bloke. He isn't the only one that has made money from Diana and he certainly won't be the last, but I just can't take to him at all. However I may be swayed, I was with Jordan aka Katie Price! :wink2:

It's nothing to do with the fact that he sold "secrets" about Diana that bothers me about him. For me it is that very thing! She thought of him as her 'rock' and he was disloyal! I really don't like disloyalty! I also think he comes across 'smarmy' and I don't like that either. I can't really see me changing my mind about him!

I have to say I thought Di was a few sarnies short of a picnic herself and I think she revelled in any attention she got when she was alive. I think they were quite genuinely "birds of a feather". Di herself engineered an interview where she openly chatted about the Prince's affair, knowing full well her sons as well as the whole nation would see it...I'm not saying she wasn't upset, but was that really appropriate? After all, she wasn't exactly a model of fidelity herself was she and what must her poor sons have thought to see their dirty linen being aired so publicly? The whole thing was ghastly IMHO.

So I don't hate Burrell for that because I think they were probably more alike than anyone would care to admit.

Diana manipulated Paul Burrell like she manipulated everyone else.

Janet was her usual aggressive self tonight, pushing for a fight by insulting all that he holds dear, lol. A bit naughty of her though, to make him talk about the Royals and then b!tch with Nancy about it later, accusing him of talking about them.

I think he will need all his patience to cope with this lot.

Loved the bit where he said Tom Hanks had contacted him to wish him luck; Brian Harvey looked and sounded distinctly underwhelmed and then it was back to the studio for Ant and Dec to rip the pee .... brilliant :)

Oh yeh, Pandora, that was brilliant. A bit of name dropping from Burrell, back to Ant and Dec "Oooooooooooooooooooo"

I find him an irritatingly smug git. I would like to see a special bush tucker trial just for him - tie him face down over a rock, down with his royal trizers then let that randy horse in the Huggy Bear photo have its way with him - one star for every minute he lasts. That should wipe the smug look off his face!

Agree here. I am not wanting to get into the whole "Diana" thing but she was no angel herself. I am with Janet on the whole royality thing though, maybe not as harsh as she is but I was annoyed with Paul the way he was going on with it being a priviledge and a duty.............blah blah blah! Janet was right in saying that you have to know your place within the Royal household. To me, that is why I am not a big fan of Paul Burrell, I cannot stand the way he holds the Royal Family with such high regard, yeah they maybe Head of State but ain't nothing special in my book!

I guess I'm out on a limb here, but that just doesn't wash for me, just because Diana was no angel doesn't make it right that he should sell secrets about her for his own finanical gain and to raise his profile.

I really hope he gets a very nasty BTT !

As for not liking him cos he "sold out" Diana I say it's all she's good for now, that and endless documentaries about a "conspiracy theory". You can blame media for that ...

I can't stand his smug voice but I don't think he seems like such a bad bloke, you can tell he is one of the most natural ones there cos he looked and was absolutely terrified of the plane jump and again he was very very anxious that he would be chosen to do the trial, there was no cover up there or fakery (ala Natalie Appleton).

It's just he comes across as a bit smarmy

I saw him this way too, and i also thought he was a bit too touchy feely with the girls  Did anyone else notice that ? And that way, when Nancy walked into the room he said how stunning she was. She is gorgeous, but he said it as though he was starring in a cheap Carry On movie.

I think he will be the new Lord Brockett of this series.

Brocket and Hewitt are caddish charmers, Burrell is just a smug wuss.

There's no comparison.

I also think he's a bit smarmy and oily. He was flirting outrageously with Sophie whilst building that tree house last night, I don't know how she restrained herself from trapping his head between two of those poles and throttling him.

My problem with Burrell is that he was a trusted confidant who, after Diana's death, promised publically on several occasions that he would not disclose any secrets etc. Then the min he gets a bit strapped for cash he happy sells all his stories and makes money by going around giving talks. I don't think his precious Diana would approve or her boys who he keeps saying he is doing it for.

I for one must be evil as I laughed out loud at his petrified face, and I loved it when Ant and Dec said, Diana's rock looks like a jelly!!!
