View Full Version : You know you spend too much time on this site when...
Dolores 11-08-2005, 07:58 PM ...at work you refer to emails as "pm's" and if you get a few replies going back and forth you refer to it as a "thread" ... both happened to me today, but I think I covered my tracks quite successfully ... either that or no-one was listening to me!!!
So what tell-tale signs are there that you spend too much time on here?
Patsy 11-08-2005, 08:29 PM 4000 posts since March. :bag:
Bella 11-08-2005, 08:37 PM You don't answer to your real name anymore!
Fee For All 11-08-2005, 10:23 PM You tell a joke and find yourself pulling a face like :w00t:
You tell your friends you're going to give them 'bad rep' if the pee you off.
Voice of reason 11-08-2005, 10:25 PM You find yourself finishing a spoken sentence with 'Lol'
Patsy 11-08-2005, 10:34 PM You can google a picture and load it onto photobucket in a nanno second and double quoting is second nature!

You actually understand what that means :cool2:
Patsy 11-08-2005, 11:07 PM Precisely!
When all of the above applies :w00t: :bag:
survivorfan 12-08-2005, 08:55 AM ... when you tell someone you're meeting a group of people from a messageboard, and they give you a funny look and say 'what messageboard?' and you say 'Survivor' and they say 'what's that ?' and you have to explain that it's a defunct TV series and they give you an even funnier look and back slowly away.

And by that time, your friend has already phoned the local assylum! And they never return your calls!!! :w00t:
Aondeag 12-08-2005, 09:31 AM You spend all yer breaks zipping in and out of 'threads' instead of catching up with the gossip from the office.
OR you pass by Condotti restaurant and think...'hmmm...wonder would the sticky Dublin meet' end up there when they come over in October.
survivorfan 12-08-2005, 09:46 AM ... when 'sticky meet' means Dublin, not chicken drumsticks in barbecue sauce.

More likely to be Abra Kebabra. :ninja:
Aondeag 12-08-2005, 11:59 AM hee..Ah no...'Eddie Rocketts' is better.
maxine 12-08-2005, 12:07 PM ..when you spend the walk home at lunch time composing what you're going to put in this thread...
Patsy 12-08-2005, 12:35 PM hee..Ah no...'Eddie Rocketts' is better.
Oooo don't know that one. Look forward to trying it. Cat and I are rather partial to a keeeeebab, preferably with a KFC nearby for the corn on the cob.
Aondeag 12-08-2005, 12:47 PM Eddie's is supposed to be an American style diner from the 50's or what have you.
I must say I am partial to their southern friend chicken tenders.and dips.....and their cheezy fries.
mmm mmmm mmmm
It's probably the kind of place you would shun by day...but at night after a wee skoopette...it just looks sooooo enticing!

see! another reason to change the board name! so we don't look weird when we say we're meeting up with strangers on a message board!
Coastie 13-08-2005, 09:23 AM Things you see and hear throughout the day remind you of people here! :bag:
Eg:
Shoes - Flip
Sea - Sharky
Royalty - Scoobs (soz Scoobs but it's true)
Church - Dab (it's because your pirate looks like Jesus in a pirate costume...can't help myself)
Opticians - Blink
Fly - Flyo (unfortunately most die)
Woodlice - Mazza (it's a bug thing)
and so it goes on....
Dolores 13-08-2005, 07:43 PM ...your son comes home from sailing club with a letter signed by the SO (Sailing Officer) ... but you immediately think ... well you all know where I'm going with this one don't you..... (course you do cos you spend too much time on line!!!)
Critique 13-08-2005, 08:41 PM No matter what trivial thing happens during the day, you automatically compose a DYJHIW or DYJLIW post in your mind :bag:
You keep looking for the emoticons when you're writing anything and end up drawing a silly smiley face!
Bonsai 15-08-2005, 09:02 AM You dont get any jobs done at work during the morning, as your too busy seeing what your online pals have been up to :w00t:
Bonsai 15-08-2005, 09:03 AM When you realise that - should the internet connection go down (which has happened before) you think you might have to resign and get a new job.
Aondeag 16-08-2005, 12:06 PM You find yourself looking at the group picture on your 'Zena Warrior Princess' calendar and wondering if anyone on the site looks like anyone from Zena.
Not in a psycho stalker type way...she hastily added.
Just in a general wonderment type way.
(Ares....anyone?)

My bessie mate has the look of Zena about her - although she is better known as Coco the clown cos she is a clumsy mare!!!!
Aondeag 16-08-2005, 12:40 PM :D
Yip...she's got blue eyes...BIG clear blue chrystal eyes with long black lashes...
and that little leather dress.
Coastie 16-08-2005, 06:53 PM You spend to much time on this site when it seems perfectly natural to you to talk about your friends Bonsia, Dolores, Buzz, Ils, Flip, Mazza, Scooby etc.......in the presence of non-message board users who think your completely potty!
Andrea 16-08-2005, 08:46 PM when you start to talk about this site to non-members and your best mate (who knows about this place) starts going "shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
Andrea 16-08-2005, 08:47 PM Actually got another one...
When your dad, whose visiting, asks whether he can come on here and post something

You talk about people here like they lived round the corner and your going to see them in a minute, and Mr F understands completely and asks after people!!!
Coastie 16-08-2005, 09:27 PM When you talk about the people on here so much your mum thinks she knows them all and has absolutely no fear about coming on the Dublin meet! :w00t:
(go on Andrea...let the old man have a post!! :naughty: )
Andrea 16-08-2005, 09:34 PM (go on Andrea...let the old man have a post!! :naughty: )
You may regret saying that :w00t:
Coastie 16-08-2005, 09:38 PM You may regret saying that :w00t:
never...he may regret posting (esspecially if he becomes an addict) but I would never regret hearing from a new and enthusiastic poster! :naughty:
msgirl 18-08-2005, 03:08 AM when you're actually upset about the time difference between the u.k. and u.s. because you miss getting be on when most everyone else is on!!! :glare:
Andrea 18-08-2005, 12:04 PM When you empty the bin at the side of the computer and find quite a collection of empty beer cans :w00t:
Although I must add, not as good a collection as Fly's
Whn you try and log onto your interent bank account using your user name and password from here
Coastie 19-08-2005, 08:01 AM Ooo have done that at work logging onto various data bases!
