View Full Version : Internet Explorer VS Mozilla Firefox
I've noticed that some people use IE and some people use Firefox. I just wanted to see which one comes out as the more triumphant browser.
And basically, I just wanted to start a thread cos I've not started one for ages.

I blame the jet-lag...
But there you go - now vote away!
Fee For All 11-08-2005, 10:12 PM I'm a Firefox convert - I like being able to open up new windows with the little tab
:)
I think Firefox is a but faster - but it can be a pain because not every site works properly with it!
The problems here in the last couple of days were only experienced by those useing Firefox for example - although Haydon managed to fix that:thumbsup:
I have both but I don't really use Firefox at all.
Andrea 11-08-2005, 10:14 PM I use internet explorer.
I've tried firefox, but there are just somethings about it I can't get on with.
I do like the tabs, and starting the new page in a new tab, but I can do that with IE, by just opening another page.
There were just some things when I came on here that didn't work how they used to, can't think exactly what it was at the moment, but in the end I switched back to IE.
I know there is supposed to be a big risk with IE, but touch wood, I've been ok up till now.
jaycee 11-08-2005, 10:48 PM IE was giving me fearsome problems..............13 weeks & counting without resolution despite many & long phone calls to so called helplines..............so far, not a problem with firefox although it does take some getting used to..........Peej, will be asking questions...............!
Blink 12-08-2005, 06:02 AM Other: Firefox as my main browser, K-Meleon for ultra-quick, "no frills" browsing, Slimbrowser for the sites that don't display properly on Firefox/K-Meleon, and I.E. (yuck yuck yuck) for the sites that don't even display properly on Slimbrowser. (But for the record I fortunately very rarely have to touch I.E. these days.)
Well as I didn't get on with Firefox, at your recommendation Blink, I have just installed Slimbrowser and so far so good.
Critique 12-08-2005, 10:41 AM Internet Explorer here. I've only ever used it and I tend to stick with what I know. Can't be bothered to mess with it, in fact I only recently knew there was anything else
Blink, I don't use Firefox at home yet, but I did notice something very useful at work. I had a site loaded in IE with lots of info on it that I needed to transfer to Excel. However many times I highlighted the text in IE I couldn't copy and paste the bloomin thing. Opened the same site in firefox - problem solved. I assume there was something in the script that stopped me copying the data from IE and the authors of the site didn't cover the eventuality for Firefox users?

I noticed this too when I was trying to copy and paste lots of email addresses into other emails, when I was using computers abroad that only had IE. It was extremely annoying cos I had to sit there like a lemon and type out every individual email address again.
floopy 12-08-2005, 05:08 PM I'm proud to say I'm an Internet Explorer fan - never had a problem with it and to my mind, if 90% of the world speak english, why insist on speaking Twi? :bag:
Blink 12-08-2005, 09:08 PM I assume there was something in the script that stopped me copying the data from IE and the authors of the site didn't cover the eventuality for Firefox users? That's correct. Firefox enables you to circumvent the javascript that prevents cutting and pasting. I think "out of the box" that's how it is set up. Ssshhh. Don't tell everyone. :)
