Coastie dons her new fresh white apron and adjusts her ample cleavage in her tight fitting off the shoulder number...the glint in her eye suggests this is going to be a great opening night....

She minces over to the doors...shoots back the bolts and opens them wide......

Yep the bar is open......come on in and have a swift one to celebrate the new establishment!

Lift your glasses and give a toast....'To Haydon the Board Master!' :Drinking:

Andrea
31-10-2004, 09:00 PM

Oh good. Pint please!

Oh while we're on the subject of bars, you know we were having that discussion about Wotherspoons and I said that none of them play music? Well last night I was walking by a bar called Lloyds and the music was blaring from it - and then I noticed it was a Wotherspoons! Apparently it's one of the very few that does play the tunes.

There, I bet you're all happier now that you know that.

Coastie
01-11-2004, 06:50 PM
Well Peej...you'll be happy to here that not only does this joint have as much music as you want but it also has Karaoke in the side bar and dancing in the main bar! :drinking:

Andrea...thanx for doing such a grand job.......here's a bottle of Bolinger and a bag of gooseberries for all your efforts! ;)

jaycee
01-11-2004, 06:54 PM
Am I first in tonight?

I'll have a celebratory vodka & slimline, ice & a slice please...........has been a good day at work & let's face it, you don't get many of those!

Dolores
01-11-2004, 06:54 PM
Tonight I would like a pint of cold lager - extra strength and I think i will go up market in the snackeroo department and have a packet of cheese and onion with a pickled egg on the side!

Voice of reason
01-11-2004, 07:00 PM

Coastie
01-11-2004, 07:01 PM
jaycee......since you're first in I've made it a double at the price of a single! ;)

Dol....I'm afraid ILS polished off the entire pickled egg supply last night but I do have some guerkins to go with your pint!

ils

I'll just have a glass of water tonight please - saving myself for my all-day bender in Newcastle on Friday.
But may I be first to sing karaoke?

Coastie
01-11-2004, 07:51 PM
You go for it Peej...what are you going to be singing...are we allowed to know or is it a suprise..... ;)

Oh and since you are singing you can have your glass of water for free and a bar of Cadburys Whole Nut! :drinking:

I shall leave it up to you lovely ladies to decide what I sing

Andrea
01-11-2004, 09:16 PM
Mmmmmm, Coastie, the bolly and gooseberries are going down lovely.

What I want to know though is about the powder room.
I've just been reading about a bar in Chicago that in the ladies room they actually have a bar in there.
Is there such a thing in here, can I get a drink while I relieve myself.

Ahhhhhhhh, now I know why Dolores is always going to the toilets in bars, she's checking out the place for hidden bars enabling un-interrupted drinking sessions:D

Coastie
02-11-2004, 04:20 AM
Andrea....you'll be happy to hear that yes there is a mini bar in the ladies loo....it's below the 2nd wash basin....you have to put your money into the slot and push the right button for your chosen beverage and out it will pop.....I didn't think it would be very nice to ask a member of staff to stand in the ladies loo all night hence this arrangemnet was set up! :drinking:

Peej....I was hoping you would sing a bit of big band staff....say 'Fly Me Too The Moon' or something similar....I'm trying to raise the profile of the joint...you know keep the riff raff out and the class in....so if you could avoid your usual rendition of 'Donald Where's Ya Trousers' that would be greatly appreciated! :D

Cat
02-11-2004, 06:05 PM
Is the bar open its 7pm. There is no one here so I have helped my self to a pint of lager.

I can see fresh nibbles on the bar, so I will settle on a stool and make myself at home enjoying the peace and quiet.

Having lots of children I find the beginning of an evening in a quiet bar like the first chapter in a new book.

So here I sit...sup, nibble....sup, nibble. Oh a cage is being swung down from the ceiling.....could this be Andrea's cage. Hope so.

:D

You can tell me, what does Andrea do in her cage?

Dolores
02-11-2004, 07:47 PM
Might I suggest that you have a "meeter and greeter" Coastie? I always feel that the salty old sea dog who greets us with such eagerness when we go to Wetherspoons such an ego boost! It's about the only time anyone's pleased to see me!

Oh and I'll have a large glass of dry white wine and a couple of olives, cheers!

Oh but 'Donald Where's Yer Troosers?' is a classic :(

Very well then *Peej sings a rendition of 'Fly to me the moon' at which point the pub empties. Peej promptly raids the bar*

Cat
06-11-2004, 12:00 PM
oh go on then, I wasn't going to start drinking so early, still recovering from last night (floopy got me hammered), and the party we are going to will have all BIL's posh neighbours (all owners of 6 bed, double bays in london). Its the first time they will have met them all and their drunken in laws from bedford come staggering thru the door.

Never mind.

ooh thats finished....can I have another one :)

The best thing about your bar Coastie is that I can wear my dressing gown and I don't have to comb my hair - that and the first class service of course!

I'll have a cappachinno and a copy of the Sunday Times to browse through please!

Coastie
07-11-2004, 11:43 AM
Erm Dol.....you can only wear your PJ's and dressing gown with tatty old slippers in the 'Vegitation Lounge' through the second door on the left.....you go on in and I'll bring your order through forthwith.

Andrea...would you like a refill?

Jaycee....I have a copy of the latest Heat Magazine for you!

Well if you don't want my custom i can take it elsewhere! I know a pub just round the corner with sawdust on the floor, a spitoon in the corner and toilets with no toilet paper in ... and they dont' mind my dressing gown and uncombed hair! OK so the glasses aren't exactly clean and the pipes are a bit musty and the landlord has a sawn off shot gun behind the bar, but at least they don't have a dress code!

Cat
07-11-2004, 04:05 PM

Dol....your custom is welcome (very welcome...I want to retire one day and your custom will bring that about much...much sooner :D )...all I was saying was that the 'Vegetation Lounge' has been specifically designed for those who want to lay like brocolli say bah to the world. kick back and wear what ever the heck they like as they down a jar or too.....I am trying to keep the main room more sophisticated...besides wouldn't you rather chill on a couch or giant bean bag than have to sit on a bar stool in PJ's? ;)

Cat....have a bottle to go with your meal...half price today!

Cat
07-11-2004, 04:54 PM

Nope, last report was about midnight.

We had water at work so I have been doing the toilet flush run today...came here with buckets of water at lunch time to flush, went to childminders to do hers. Then again after work...drove home at 1 mile an hour with 5 large bins (swing bin stylee), in the boot (its an estate car). Gave a bin to the minder and bought the rest home. Good old blitz spirit.

I'll have a bud too now, finished my pint.

I've just been paying darts tetris and mastermind with an 11 year old for two hours. I am enjoying a well earned choc ice before 18 year old gets home and delights me (bores me rigid) with escapades of another jolly evening with the ranger guides...The four marys in Bunty have invaded my gal she is a parody of them and Oh I hope they don't pass any ambulances or fire engines or police on the drive home. We will listen attentively while being cynical in our heads about children in need on TV till about 11PM and hopefully she will have had her hot choc and clear orf to bed.
We are all up early tomorrow as its family shopping day and the two olders are going to try and have an independent shopping hour!!!!We will start by invading McDonalds at about 0845 for breakfast! Hvae to be home by 2pm for 18 year olds driving lesson so at least its time limited.
I think I'll have another SPAR mint choc ice.
