It's not easy to find is it. I've just tried googling for x-factor theme tune and the results were disappointing. N'mind, I'm sure someone will know where to look.

Isnt it from The Omen?

If you mean the Damien films, about a boy doomed to be the devil incarnate.

The film uses a lot of Carmina Burana by Carl Orf.

I must admit though I don't remember whether the X Factor uses this music at all. It is a very heavy going modern classical work of a mamoth size and dimension.

Good luck with your efforts to trace the music.

Isn't it "Ride of the Valkyries" that they keep using, N.A.?

Hello blink,

I couldn't be 100% certain about the music at all in x factor. But I do no that certain extracts sounded very much like Carmina Burana, by Carl Orf. Especially the short bursts of choral sound. You see about 10 years ago I was involved in a live concert of this piece and whilst I couldn't say I remember the entire work now, the orchestral parts are just as grand and modernistic in writing full of abstract sometimes dissonant sounds that are continuous.I also know that this was definitely used in the Damien /Omen films.

Wagner on the other hand, at the height of his day (spent many years in absolute poverty as he wasn't very well liked, politically an outspoken supremist I gather a bit of a Nazi) and for many years to follow (a decade or so later) has been an inspiration to open minded composers of classical works in a similar fashion having been essential during the development of the 'brief idea' being a representative of invidualistic symphonic writing put into choral form. Some would say the originator. (Look to Smetena symphonic poems and there are serious similarities to Wagner.) An instrument would be chosen to voice a short theme for a character in his operatic works, (Nearly always taken from Germanic Myth and early natural religions flower, fauna, earthly origins, sky, water, wind etc - what the christian religions of the world would deem primitive) the theme would pass between other instruments in the orchestra before any further develoment.

Wagners work is wonderful to listen to, and incredibly difficult to sing. I may be wrong but I don't think the x factor music was taken from ride of the Valkries or any other piece of Wagner.

Sorry, I hope this hasn't been to heavy or informative.

Hello Jack,

The x factor does not officially have a theme tune, but in between auditions are short samples of popular songs being sung, a piece of electronic music and most definitely examples from Carmina Burana by Carl Orf. :)

In among all the other bits of music used, there is apparently an XFactor theme, written by one of Louis Walsh's stable of writers. (http://www.globaltalentgroup.com/Publishing_Jos_Jorgensen.htm)
