Cat 24-09-2005, 07:37 PM I really liked the coloured chap - Nicholas or something...nice looking, good voice and a twinkle in his eye. tonee 24-09-2005, 07:40 PM I wish I could remember what I didnt like but so many seemed indistinct. Spank me....cabaret.....dire Fee For All 24-09-2005, 07:43 PM Some class acts on Xfactor extra :shocking: Cat 24-09-2005, 07:48 PM What was wrong with the chap with the stiff arm....I missed the intro, only heard him sing like a dusky voiced angle then noticed his arm. Que? Fee For All 24-09-2005, 07:50 PM He has cerebral palsy. I liked him - good looking kid with a fair voice and the right attitude. Got through on merit I'd say  (is it Sunday morning now Cat?) Cat 24-09-2005, 07:56 PM He has cerebral palsy. I liked him - good looking kid with a fair voice and the right attitude. Got through on merit I'd say  (is it Sunday morning now Cat?) No. It was on the main show Fee. He def got thru on talent alone as I didn't hear what was said before he sang (watching Patsy's jacket on ebay)...then walking into the kitchen he stopped me in my tracks - marvelous, great voice, lovely face and personality. It was this that made me loose Patsy's jacket. He definately got through totally on merit. Dolores 24-09-2005, 08:02 PM I really liked the coloured chap - Nicholas or something...nice looking, good voice and a twinkle in his eye. what i don't get is why Louis has to be so begrudging of him. He was tons better than some of the ****** that Louis has put through! Also re: the judges' categories ... to be honest i'd rather have the bands than any of the others, there were some really good ones there. Tonight I particularly liked the guy with his arm in a sling and particularly disliked the girl who was so full of herself she made me want to vomit! Looks like she's in Sharon's group so I don't expect to see her for much longer! Andrea 24-09-2005, 08:06 PM seeing the title of this thread and it's date has just made me realise it's my mums birthday today, oops :ninja: Coastie 24-09-2005, 08:13 PM Andrea! Who got what by the way? Simon got the groups (didn't see that coming....much!) Did Louis get the youngsters and Sharon the oldies? This seemed the obvious mix... Fee For All 24-09-2005, 08:17 PM Coastie - sit down dear  I answered you in the other thread. dozy mare Coastie 24-09-2005, 08:22 PM I am sat down now...thank-you for your time and patience! Blink 25-09-2005, 06:44 AM He has cerebral palsy....and made Mr & Mrs Blink cry... maxine 25-09-2005, 08:46 AM ...and made Mr & Mrs Blink cry... Me too, Blink. He seemed a lovely lad with a sweet, sweet voice. I liked the guy with the arm in a sling too, Dol. As for the Abba oldies, Simon's probably already rung them to tell them not to bother showing up. What were Louis and Sharon thinking? Bob 25-09-2005, 09:57 AM Why didn't they show us Jack osbourne fooling the judges? Was it that bad? Why bother telling us al about it in the papers and showing a preview last week if they aren't going to show it! I would have liked to have seen that. Can't have been as bad the rest of the "coming up next" clips that they show a hundred times and turn out to be nothing. Now tell me, the girl who they said sounded a bit lke Joss Stone, Heifer or something, wasn't she in pop idol? They never said anything to her. Do you think they didn't know? Dolores 25-09-2005, 10:26 AM Well Bob last year they saved the "chicken man" who sang Tragedy until the final stages of the show ... so maybe they're saving Jack for that too! ... or maybe Simon is fed up of Sharon's family hanging on her and Ozzy's coat-tails doing anything to get on tv and has decided not to give Jack airtime! I assume that Simon has the last word in any decisions on the show which is why all that sulking when he got the groups was even more stupid and spoilt than it looked! Cat 25-09-2005, 10:49 AM Just watched this again whilst preparing sunday dinner (MIL coming round) - ironing is set up in the front room ready for the Xtra factor. Daniel (young lad with CP) and Nicholas really were top class. It was interesting that even though these two were very confident they were both so likable and that girl who again had talent and was confident came across as desperate, unattractive as Sharon said. She really was annoying. What is it the can make make one person likable even though cock sure and another not, I just can't put my finger on it - is it the desperation? Bob 25-09-2005, 01:16 PM . What is it the can make make one person likable even though cock sure and another not, I just can't put my finger on it - is it the desperation? She was too arrogant and didn't smile, also very tense, the other two smiled and were relaxed and effortless. If you know you've got it no need to harp on about it, it will show. ils 25-09-2005, 02:55 PM Why didn't they show us Jack osbourne fooling the judges? Was it that bad? Why bother telling us al about it in the papers and showing a preview last week if they aren't going to show it! I would have liked to have seen that. They showed it on the Xtra Factor last night Bob! IMO It was rubbish and Luis had him sussed. Cat 25-09-2005, 04:46 PM She was too arrogant and didn't smile, also very tense, the other two smiled and were relaxed and effortless. If you know you've got it no need to harp on about it, it will show. Yes..it was the smiling..both Daniel and Nicholas had HUGE grins didn't they - HUGE LOVELY LOVEY GRINS infact.....she didn't, she just reeked desperation and sullennes - then burst into tears. A smile carry's alot...people who don't naturally smile should be aware...it is very very difficult to communicate with a person who's expressions arn't variable. Bella 25-09-2005, 06:49 PM I agree the arrogant girl was such a turn-off and to be honest she was nothing special! Daniel & Nicholas were lovely, good voices and very appealling - they will sell and look very marketable! Why was Simon peed off with the groups - aren't there some good ones in there although judging from the clips from next week maybe not!? btw - what was thing that Louis didn't Sharon & Simon to find out - remember there was a clip of him speaking to someone saying this but did we ever find out what it was? Coastie 25-09-2005, 07:14 PM The groups are very poor this year Bella....none that really stand out just all very mediocre as any groups go....Simon really has got a tough chore ahead of him! Northern angel 26-09-2005, 12:33 AM Hello survivors, Just thought I'd tap in a thought or so and say hello aswell. Just joined today and hope its fun. So to my thoughts.Televised reality talent shows, there has only ever been one good one and that had excellent amateur dancers competing with each other. In other words these people really did have something to offer and had spent years puting in time, effort, and finance into the art of dance. :wink_kiss Those hyper active televised talent shows are not for people with a gift but desperate wanabees. Desperate because the reality of life on the dole or on the factory floor is just not as exciting as the glossy mags portrayal of life for an artist. An artist on stage, musical, film and and the world of pop. Simon Cowell himself admits that it feels very much like a medieval spectacle an executioners extravanganza, its a shame he hasn't got anything better to do..something more worthwhile such as really trying to find the talented. Still the next executioners year is looming untill one day the nation realises its just had enough of watching there children, there grandchildren reduced to cowering depressants.Gain confidence, gain strength. gain intelligence, you have a life and if your talent is not in music you still have a talent in something else. :wink_kiss Fee For All 26-09-2005, 12:41 AM Hi Northern Angel - I may have to call you NA for short. Totally agree with what you say, but they are such fun to watch. Northern angel 26-09-2005, 12:42 AM I like your sinking ship. Coastie. It is very apt. Reality television does sink to the lowest depths. Reviving careers which should be left alone and inflating others who don't need it. Coastie 26-09-2005, 12:53 AM Thanks NA... I love the search for new talent shows (it's like a modern version of New Faces or something which birthed the likes of Lenny Henry and a few others who's names escape me right now) but detest the likes of Big Brother and the ones which show celebs trying to regain some of their previous lime light (I only watch IACGMOOH for Ant and Dec...they crack me up)..... Northern angel 26-09-2005, 12:54 AM Mmm, Your never too late to have a mispent youth. Too true. Feel free to call me whatever you feel Na is fine. I think I 'd like to see a repeat of the faking it series. You remember where an individual is selected to train up to do a task or job and a group of practitioners in that job or professionals have to spot the fake. That made good quality viewing and certainly opened the eyes of opportunity. Coastie 26-09-2005, 01:01 AM I only managed to see one of those...it was the one where the guy trained up to be a chef or something (it always clshed with another programe I enjoyed at the time)...but yes a good format and a fun idea that is worth revisiting whenever they can get around to it... I like shows where members of the public are used for educational purposes (although if I see another nanny or child pysch show it will be to soon) ....there's a rather good one coming up soon..... and one or two around here may recognise a face! ;) I would dearly love to see less Property and Antique/Car boot type shows.....there seems to be one on at any given hour of the day! :ranting: Fee For All 26-09-2005, 01:03 AM That was a good series! Problem I find with all these reality progs is that the follow up series are never so good as the participants get too camera savvy and play up a bit. Like Wife Swap. First series was excellent - now it's just too cringeworthy and predicatable, Edit - Ooops - way off topic. So... Did anyone spot Haifa last night? Lots of blond curls and a sun tan. Simon thought she was 'good'. She was in the same final 10 in Pop idol as Gareth Gates and has also done a Eurovision thingy. She's about half way down the page (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/displayarticle.php?id=4113) Coastie 26-09-2005, 01:12 AM I saw her...she was good but I didn't know she had had a crack at this malarky before...good for her! I was with Simon on the dancing guy...not a bad voice but those moves made me feel sick.....I was never a fan of James Brown live either.... The lad with CP and the one with the broken arm....liked em both! Northern angel 26-09-2005, 01:24 AM Sponsor, I think you mean Javine. Who was actually excellent on the programme but once the series had finished and she followed the record company line, she simply fell to pieces. Javine also thought she'd fall to pieces in the Eurovision as a result of having a cold. The unfortunate thing about such programmes is that whilst the heats are broadcast they use covers of old songs which were hits. Once the contractual obligations begin and modern music is undertaken the quality just crumbles away. from a vocal point of view.Yes you were right she was in the same heat as Gareth Gates and Will Young. Gareth Gates may rise again. Having recently read it on a award winning song writing and recording studio website.Still enough for now. Fee For All 26-09-2005, 01:43 AM Nope - not Javine. This one: From BBC Press Office (http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2004/02_february/04/making_mind_artists.shtml) (http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2004/02_february/04/making_mind_artists.shtml) Haifa - Me Without You http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/images/bbc/programmes_tv_idents_and_screenshots/entertainment/150eurovision_haifa.jpgHaifa (24) started entertaining early pretending to be a DJ and play her Mum's Michael Jackson and Police singles. She went on to study music and drama and, already in her career, has performed for the Princess Royal and recorded an acclaimed dance single. It was while singing freestyle vocals in clubs that Haifa was spotted by a scout from Public Demand Records. This led to collaborations with top dance producers Artful Dodger, the team who launched Craig David's career. Her track Forever went on to appear on Artful Dodger and Public Demand hit dance compilation albums. Her cover of Toni Braxton's Unbreak My Heart was a club smash here and a hit in Spain where Haifa promoted it on many television and radio shows. She has also supported Liberty X on their UK tour playing to packed arenas around the country. Although respected for her R&B and garage style, Haifa also loves pop and took part in the first series of Pop Idol alongside Eurovision performer Jessica Garlick. Although Mr Cowell was a big fan of Haifa's, she narrowly missed out on a place in the final ten but learnt a lot from the whole experience. Haifa is excited about her involvement with Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up as she has grown up watching the Eurovision Song Contest. "It was definitely a family thing where we would look at artists singing in different languages but the sentiments could still be understood," she says. "To be part of this event which was a childhood memory is a dream come true." Blink 26-09-2005, 08:28 AM btw - what was thing that Louis didn't Sharon & Simon to find out - remember there was a clip of him speaking to someone saying this but did we ever find out what it was?Nope. Wasn't shown on either show. Bella 26-09-2005, 09:19 AM Funniest bit for me was when the factory came on stating she had the X-factor - I was really hoping that when she started to sing she would have the voice of an angel but alas it wasn't to be - and when Simon told her to call Geri Halliwell and make a duet, it was like she was taking it on board and answered with a very dull "uh...okay then" I bet she went off and phoned 118-118 just to get her number! Spare us, please........just thought of another irating celeb but I won't waste my time writing her name twice - her nasly voice and jumped up celeb status gets on my wick! |
