Bonsai 26-09-2005, 09:39 AM Did anyone see this on Saturday night ? I think it was on around 9pm ish on ITV ?
I absolutely loved it. Its my kind of thing as im fascinated with the afterlife, and if it exists etc ..... but the acting was superb, and the storyline had me hooked.
The hour whized past - and i was really dissapointed when it ended. Roll on next Saturday.
Yes I watched it Bonnie. Very good it was too.
I really enjoyed this as well. I though Lesley Sharp was really good in it. Looking forward to next weeks episode.
Pandora 26-09-2005, 04:13 PM I thought it was excellent. And just how yummy is Andrew Lincoln who plays opposite Lesley Sharp?
. And just how yummy is Andrew Lincoln
Pandora - I agree he is very very yummy

He's got a very sexy voice.
I enjoyed it but I'm wondering how it's going to be dragged out for 6 episodes. Is it a different story every week do you think?
MariaRob 03-10-2005, 12:05 PM Does anyone watch this on a Saturday night? Its pretty good and quite spooky and Lesley Sharpe is excellent as the somewhat reluctant medium/physic.
Aondeag 03-10-2005, 12:06 PM ooh no. I dont' have the station, but I would LOVE to watch that.
:-O
I love this MR - Lesley Sharp is one of my favourite actresses and Andrew Lincoln is pretty hot. We did have a thread on this the other week but I am not sure where it has gone.

You know - i thought i had started a thread on this show, but what happened to it ?
Bella 03-10-2005, 01:05 PM Mmmmm, I am going against the reviews here. I watched it last night week and quite enjoyed it but I didn't really enjoy this weeks, felt that it dragged on a bit. And I know Lesley Sharp is playing in character but I just so want to giver her a good shake. Plus I think she needs someone from Changing Rooms as her decor in her house is appalling!
I think I'll rent a DVD out next week as this just isn't doing for me.
Eternity 03-10-2005, 01:20 PM I missed last weeks, but I watched this last one, and like Bella, was disapointed. I am sure some really good storylines could come from this theme, but they will have to do a lot better to hold my attention!
Pandora 03-10-2005, 03:23 PM You know - i thought i had started a thread on this show, but what happened to it ?
Yes Bonsai, you started a thread about Afterlife last week. Try looking on page 2 of this section, its on there.
(I will merge the two when Ive got more time).
I love this programme; Lesley Sharpe plays the Medium that is literally haunted by her visions superbly well. Andrew Lincoln (who ILS and I may have to mud wrestle over), is abso-blimmin-lutely gorgeous in it too.
The murder of the little girl was really upsetting on Saturday nights episode, and the part where she suddenly appeared in the bath and sat up made me jump a mile - even though you kind of knew something like that would happen, (incidentally how filthy was that bath!).
The ending was suitably scary and satisfying.

God wasnt it just (the bath i mean, not the ending). It looked like she had just washed 6 dogs in it after they had ploughed through the mud. Was it her annual bath or something ????
tonee 03-10-2005, 07:01 PM I'm a fan.
Lola3001 04-10-2005, 11:15 AM ...Ooh i love this...Thought the girl was very creepy though...
...Loved the below bones bit...
Minklemar 04-10-2005, 11:26 AM I liked it - apart from the bit where the little girl appeared to her murderer.....I thought the whole point of Lesley Sharps character was that the was the only person who could see the dead people.
If the dead people can just appear to whoever they want to it kind of puts the medium out of a job doesn't it?
Minklemar 04-10-2005, 11:31 AM I've merged the two Afterlife threads into this one.
Bella 04-10-2005, 12:45 PM I liked it - apart from the bit where the little girl appeared to her murderer.....I thought the whole point of Lesley Sharps character was that the was the only person who could see the dead people.

That's a good point, Mink! I just felt that the whole story was filled with holes. And when I saw the guy who played the cop I was just waiting for him to play out the "big con" (He was from The Hustle) on somebody!
I didn't like the ending, yes the guy died but he was never found guilty of his crimes. I just felt slightly uneasy watching it, yes I know I could have switched it off but you know once you start you just have to watch it right to the end. I just don't like Lesley Sharp's character, she just annoys me for some reason!

Blimmin ell Minks, I never thought of that ! DOH! :bored:

Bella, I can understand why you say the above, however I think that because the character has recently come out of a Psychiatric Unit and is still neurotic and nervous, she comes across as a bit annoying, which I suppose she is meant to be.
Im wondering whether its the fact she can see dead people that had her sectioned, or the state of the decor in her house ! Its circa 1971 and is ghastly !

The decor is appalling, no wonder she is so depressed looking! Pan, I know that is the part she is supposed to playing, so I suppose I should really give her credit for playing the part so well. I just feel that a night out on the town with a few tequillas thrown in might just liven her up a little!
I would be interested to see the outcome, but I think I will find out from you lot on here why she was sectioned and how Robert deals with his son's death rather than watch it! :w00t:

Agree! I am enjoying this but that ending was out of place, and yes that bath was disgusting!

I agree whole heartedly this is an excellent drama. We could do with more programmes like this.
borneobabe 05-10-2005, 08:34 PM Love Lesley Sharpe..... great actress... and this is a wonderful series. I do agree with everyone, that the decor in the house is diabolical, perhaps it just adds to the melancholic gloomy atmosphere. And as for Andrew Lincoln... Orgasmatron on legs me thinks !!!!

I thought the dodgy decor was due to her lack of money (I can relate, and you should see the walls in my house !!!!). She only moved in in the first episode, and she didnt want to take money from that show she did at the beginning, so i dont think she earns much, and cant afford to do up the gaff.
Also - looking at her clothes etc ... i dont think she is very materialistic.
Bonsai 10-10-2005, 10:22 AM I loved this on Saturday. Very scary indeed. Did anyone else see it ?
I will be sooooo sad when this series ends

This was 'hide behind the sofa' tv for me Bonnie - I loved it, but by jingo it was scarey. That Daniel 2 was gross, and the frustration portrayed by Daniel 1 was palpable!!
Superb series.
Minklemar 10-10-2005, 05:21 PM Oh knickers!! I was away for the weekend and forgot to record it!!

I did Bonnie, it was really scary. I can't wait for next weeks episode.
tonee 16-10-2005, 10:50 AM I jumped a few times last night watching that episode. That dead woman was quite menacing.
Scarey Bluddy MAry!!
It was good last night wasn't it?? Lesley Sharp plays a great character - although that stuffy psychologist needs a good slap!!
I have to say the whole way thoruhg last nights 'terrifying' episode - I kept saying 'new customers only' [Mark Benton - Connell??] - Mr F ended up throwing numerous cushions at me for spoiling the mood!!??
NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY!!:ninja:

I knew i recognised him from somewhere
I thought it was a brilliant episode. I love this so much and will be gutted when it finishes.
Lesley Sharp is brilliant isnt she - and she had such kind eyes when dealing with the oldies in the rest home. I hope someone like her looks after me when im old and past it.

I thought Mr B was doing a sterling jobbie Bonnny???

Pandora 16-10-2005, 04:18 PM I jumped a few times last night watching that episode. That dead woman was quite menacing.
We had interference on our TV from high pressure (or was it ghosties.... lol!), but I jumped loads during this episode. The bit where the drawer of cutlery and tablets shot out across the room made me nearly fall off the sofa, much to Mr P's amusement..
Great episode last night, I'm another that jumped a few times. I will be so sad when this finishes as IMO it is one of the best things on TV at the moment.
Bonsai 12-09-2006, 03:05 PM This comes back on Sat 16th at 9pm, and i cant wait. It looks even more creepy this time around :shocking:
