View Full Version : Strictly Come Dancing - New Series
Pandora 26-09-2005, 05:48 PM For those interested, here are the folks tipped by the Daily Mirror to be competing in the next series:-
(Please note Dolores' future husband, highlighted in red :w00t: )
*does a runner*
PACE ace Darren "Dazzler" Gough will be practising his quicksteps in the run-up to the third series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The England cricketer is among 12 celebrities aiming to bowl over the judges when the BBC show returns next month.
He will compete against stars including DJ Zoe Ball, ex-Eastender Patsy Palmer, TV presenter Gloria Hunniford and GMTV host and Mirror columnist Fiona Phillips.
They will be joined by athlete Colin Jackson, snooker's Dennis Taylor, Casualty star Will Thorp, My Family actress Siobhan Hayes, Holby City's Jaye Jacobs, chef James Martin and BBC journalist Bill Turnbull.
Dolores 26-09-2005, 06:04 PM lol thanks for that Pandora ...but I don't think I'm Colin's type! I just think he is the Gary Lineker of the race track ... a thoroughly decent bloke!
Ghost 27-09-2005, 09:26 AM Thanks Pandora - thats great news. I was just wondering yesterday when the next series was.
I think it was on about this time last year. :D
I loved the last series, and I am really looking forward to this one
Does anyone know when it starts?
Andrea 27-09-2005, 09:57 AM Big article in our local paper today about this and it starts BBC1, Saturday October 15th
Here's a list of the competitors according to my paper.
Zoe Ball - out of work DJ
Gloria Hunniford - out of work presenter
Fiona Phillips - GMTV presenter
Darren Gough - cricketer
Siobhan Hayes - was "Abi" in My Family
Colin Jackson - all round good egg and snappy dresser:w00t:
Jaye Jacobs - Nurse Donna Jackson in Holby City
James Martin - Chef on Ready, Steady, Cook
Patsy Palmer - Riiiiiiiiiickeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Dennis Taylor - big glasses snooker player
Will Thorpe - Paul "Woody" Joyner in Casualty
Bill Turnbull - BBC breakfast presenter.
Thanks for the info Andrea
oooooooooooooo it's not long now :D
Did anyone else watch this? I video'ed it as it clashed with X Factor and watched it today whilst tackling my huge ironing pile.
I really enjoyed this, Bruce Forsythe makes the show for me, he is a fantastic presenter and I loved his corny jokes.
Zoe Ball and Colin Jackson were amazing, and I thought Dennis Taylor, Darren Gough, Gloria Hunniford and Bill Turnball were very entertaining.
I thought Siobhan Hayes ("Abi" in My Family) was the weakest and deserved to go, and I think going on tonight's performances that Fiona Phillips might be the next one out.
JakeyBoy 17-10-2005, 06:26 AM What's this show about?
maxine 17-10-2005, 06:48 AM I found this really dull. And much as I think Bruce used to be a good entertainer, he just seemed so wooden and unrehearsed. It seemed as if he was reading those lines for the first time. And 12 couples is just too much. I won't be tuning in next week.
Bonsai 17-10-2005, 08:20 AM I saw some of Fiona Phillips dancing on GMTV this morning, and i thought she looked pretty good.
The others must of been blummin fantastic !!!
Its not a show i watch though - i think i caught about 5 mins during the last series.
Fee For All 17-10-2005, 08:31 AM What's this show about?
Jakey, there's been a very long-running ballroom dancing programme on UK television. (A bit like that Australian film Strictly Ballroom)
They've now shaken it up and turned it into a celeb contest where a load of Z listers team up with a professional dancer and learn how to dance. One gets voted off each week after being verbally crucified by a panel of experts.
MariaRob 17-10-2005, 10:58 AM I saw this on Saturday and thought Fiona Philipps was embarrassing, she danced like a carthorse and the only reason she was not voted out was she is well known and probably quite popular with the public. I thought Zoe Ball was excellent but seemed to lack charisma with her partner. Bruce Forstye is OK as a presenter but always seems to be stuck in a 70s time warp.

Oh OK. A bit like Dancing with the Stars then. Thought so...
Ghost 17-10-2005, 11:33 AM I missed most of the main show and only saw the last 20 mins, but watched the results prog.
I agree with you MariaRob about Fiona looking like a carthouse, but I didn't think she would go out because they kept mentioning she was last, so she was bound to get some sympathy votes.
From what I saw of Colin Jackson I thought he did really well - I hope he wins it we could with a man winning SCD for a change.
Brucie seemed to have improved :bag: as presenter since last series, and although some of his links/jokes seemed a bit wooden, judging from the reaction from Tess, some of them obviously weren't. :naughty:

You say haven't watched SCD yet and you'll switch over when James is on. Maybe you secretly admire him.
Or maybe it's a love/hate relationship :ranting:
