View Full Version : Is this normal? lol
JakeyBoy 29-09-2005, 05:15 PM My favourite song at the moment would either be Boulevard of Broken Dreams or Bohemian Rhapsody. I obviously like rock 'n' roll, am I weird? Alot of people like all that rap bullsh*t but I don't understand what they are saying!

...Can't blame you for liking either song - they're both great...Especially Bohemian Rhapsody...Which version ar you liking at the moment...Queen or G4?... :D :cool2:
sayangmouse 29-09-2005, 08:11 PM I started liking rap for about 5 minutes, then got very bored of it, so back to the old favourites again - basically anyone who can sing well, doesn't matter if Celine, G4, Ronan, Mariah, as long as they can carry a tune.

I don't think it's weird at all - at least not for someone of my generation anyway!
Are you sure you're fourteen? http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/confused/confused0033.gif
JakeyBoy 30-09-2005, 04:42 PM I'm not even fourteen. I'm 12, 13 in a few days time.

Oh the Queen version for sure. I didn't even know there was another one made. Infact I don't even know who G4 is!
Lola3001 30-09-2005, 06:57 PM Oh the Queen version for sure. I didn't even know there was another one made. Infact I don't even know who G4 is!
...I will only forgive you not knowing who G4 are since you live in Austrailia...But if you lived in England, it would be a different matter... :wink2:
I started liking rap for about 5 minutes
...I haven't liked it for one minute yet...don't think i will somehow!!... :wink2:
Patsy 30-09-2005, 08:00 PM Rock rules. Both songs are good, but BR will be a classic for decades.

Yeah I agree.
Patsy 01-10-2005, 08:07 AM Rock music is what I love most, being brought up listening to my two older brothers' records blasting through the house. My love of rock has filtered through to my kids, too, one of whom is the same age as you Jakey, so you're not unusual at all.
However, I agree that Bohemian Rhapsody is a classic, but it's not my favourite Queen song. That would probably be Seven Seas of Rye. The intro is fantastic and it's much more raw than the slick stuff they produced later. That and Killer Queen and You're My Best Friend.
Bella 01-10-2005, 09:14 AM I would be hard pushed to choose a favourite Queen song, they are all classic andto me Freddie Mercury had the ultimate X-Factor! My 7 year old loves them and says that Queen is her favourite band..........good taste!
As for rap, sorry but it does nothing for me! Rock n' roll anytime - I love the Rainbow classics, Since You've Been Gone and Surrender, Meat Loaf's Bat out of Hell and many, many more!
Every night was rock night at The Dreadnought hotel where you used to head-bang the night away in your denims.........ah, those were the days! :w00t:

Ee, thanks Jakey! :) I used to spend my Friday nights at the Armadale Community Centre Disco.....many moons ago....head-banging to Bat Out of Hell. It was great if you got tapped on the shoulder (it was very refined in those days) by someone you really liked as that song lasted for ages!
Those were the days when I went out with 50p and that got me into the disco with the three flashing lights, a drink of cola, a bag of chips and the bus home, just in time to watch Starsky & Hutch and if you were lucky you sometimes managed to get a click and have a snog in the Armadale Thistle Football Ground! Absolute bliss! :D
Patsy 01-10-2005, 08:22 PM Bat out of Hell is my absolute favourite album of all time, in the world....... ever. Paradise By The Dashboard Light is pure, unadulterated, marvellously OTT rock heaven, IMO.
I went to see him with my friend a few years ago (she and I used to perform it in our hostel room most nights) and it was one of the most disappointing evenings of my life. The man is a buffoon who, for some reason, ruined most of the songs he sang by trying to be funny.
We left before the end. I still love the album, though.
JakeyBoy 02-10-2005, 10:48 AM He was here in Oz a few years ago with the Melbourne Sympony Orchestra. I didn't go but I got the DVD of it...
My parents saw him many years ago and they said he was very good. But he is really old now so that is probably why he wasn't that good Patsy.
Fee For All 02-10-2005, 11:25 AM he is really old now[/b] so that is probably why he wasn't that good Patsy.

JakeyBoy 02-10-2005, 11:32 AM How old are you?

Fee For All 02-10-2005, 11:39 AM  You never ask a lady her age!!
Not if you want to live long enough to reach the same age
JakeyBoy 02-10-2005, 11:41 AM Fine then. Let's see MeatLoaf is like 60 something so...
Fee For All 02-10-2005, 11:43 AM Is he that young...:p

Paradise By The Dashboard Light is fantastic.
Bat out of hell is one of those songs that make you feel invincible. Try working out to it, you'll lose about half a stone
JakeyBoy 02-10-2005, 12:37 PM Is he that young...:p

I have just danced round the living room with my kids to this and I am exhausted! Showed them a bit of head-banging and air guitar! Forgot how good this album is - Two Out of Three Ain't Bad - another classic! And you just can't fault Paradise by the Dashboard Light. Who was the female vocalist on that song, what a voice!
Also played Thin Lizzy and think we should have The Boys Are Back In Town and Dancin' In the Moonlight as part of the Dublin anthems!
Fee - looking good honey, will you be going for a top-up before Dublin!?
msgirl 02-10-2005, 11:34 PM Fee, that picture...I will NEVER go w/o sunscreen, EVER. I hope my supper doesn't come up!!!

Curses! I've just spent literally minutes googling because I couldn't remember her name and here's my answer all along. I used to have one of her albums years ago. Some thieving bint with a big nose and lantern chin nicked it.
adolescent reveries are stirring . . . .
What were you like as an adolescent, JA? Do you have any photos? Any photos at all.......... at any age......... just one maybe? :naughty:
JakeyBoy 06-10-2005, 12:45 PM Does anybody like the sond "Wish you were here" by Pink Floid?
Well? Does anybody?
Aondeag 06-10-2005, 12:47 PM Not sure...remind me of it again.
sing a few bars.....
JakeyBoy 06-10-2005, 01:01 PM OK. Ummm:
So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
Did they get you to trade
Your heros for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in a war,
For a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.
That's not just a few lines but yeah. It's a pretty good song to be honest...
Aondeag 06-10-2005, 01:03 PM Oh very good....rings a bell.
i'll be humming that all afternoon now.
:whistling
JakeyBoy 06-10-2005, 01:13 PM lol sorry hehehe  Don't worry it will get out of your head by the end of the day...
