View Full Version : Movie Moments that make you Cry
sayangmouse 30-09-2005, 08:14 PM Lots to choose from, but I'll keep it to three that are guaranteed to make me howl (in order of cant-watch-ability due to serious impact on the household tissue supplies):
1) The Seventh Sign - when Demi Moore has the baby at the end...HOWWWL
2) Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey II - when the golden lab runs over the hill at the end........WAAAAAAAAA
3) Titanic: I know, I know, but still gets me every time....YOWLLLLLL
Patsy 30-09-2005, 08:17 PM Born Free - every time
Truly Madly Deeply
End of Pride & Prejudice (only because it was Donald Sutherland)
tonee 30-09-2005, 08:19 PM I am sure I have written this before but:
The Champ, "wake up Champ"
Philadelphia - couldnt stop crying
You Can Count On Me - one of my fav movies, moving in a very subtle way
Prince of Tides - I dont normally go for this type of film but Nick Nolte is fantastic and I get his performance
bridge 01-10-2005, 01:22 PM i always cry in "Spartacus" and that old film with Charlton Heston "Ben Hur" the part where he finds his mother and daughter and their lepers (SOB) and he carries the sister out into the sunshine to Jesus (WEEP) and a miracle happens and they get cured (HOWL) :shocking:
msgirl 01-10-2005, 03:38 PM 'City of Angels', the end when Nicholas Cage is sitting on the couch talking to Andre Baugher and he says he'd do it all over again for just one...just one touch, just one kiss, etc. boohooooboooohoooo.
tonee 01-10-2005, 05:14 PM After I moved today, I sat and watched the tv showing of the Champ and once again, boo hoo. God, this film gets me every time.
Little House on the Prairie used to get me....the one when Mary went blind "where have you gone?" left me hysterical.
Fee For All 02-10-2005, 12:42 PM I never cry at movies and stuff. Not since I was about 8 and Old Yeller got shot.

Have you seen the friends episode where Phoebe reveals that her mother changed all the endings of sad films for her. Very funny.
Fee For All 02-10-2005, 12:46 PM Yes - that was a classic Phoebe moment!
It brought tears to my eyes :wink2:
Bonsai 03-10-2005, 09:04 AM 'City of Angels', the end when Nicholas Cage is sitting on the couch talking to Andre Baugher and he says he'd do it all over again for just one...just one touch, just one kiss, etc. boohooooboooohoooo.
I love this one too.
Gorillas in the Mist made me cry. I also cry at Love Story (before it begins usually as i know whats going to happen!!). Steel Magnolias is another weepy, and Beaches with Bette Midler.
floopy 03-10-2005, 09:28 AM The bit in Castaway where he loses Wilson the basketball to the high seas.
*sniff*

borneobabe 03-10-2005, 06:54 PM Going My Way.... Barry Fitzgerald and Bing Crosby... must have been made about 200 years ago at this stage.... but when Barry Fitzgerald's mother (and thats saying something as he looked about 90 himself in the movie) walks into the church to be reunited with him having not seen him in about about 60 years.....well.... you can forget the tissues... its 3 ply kitchen roll time. !!!
Bella 03-10-2005, 07:24 PM Gorillas in the Mist made me cry.
Gets me everytime. In fact most films with animals in it have me reaching for the Kleenex, I would be crying at the begining of Lassie Come Home as I knew what was going to happen! I remember bawling my eyes out at a cartoon called The Prince and The Swallow, my mum thought I had hurt myself the state I got myself into!
I think the last film I cried at recently was Moulin Rouge.
Top Gun - when Goose dies.
Dead Poets Society - when the young student kills himself
Good Morning Vietnam - As the song Wonderful World is played
The Green Mile - when Coffey was put on the electric chair
One Flew over The Cuckoo's Nest - the final scene with Jack Nicholson as they take away his dignity and the same with A Beautiful Mind.
And yes, Little House on the Prairie got me everytime!
Suffice to say I am an extremely emotional person! *sniff* *sniff*
Coastie 03-10-2005, 09:45 PM 'Old Yella' got to me as a child but I didn't actually cry....
The first film that ever made me cry was 'Shindlers List'...the bit when the Jews are going down the tunnel into the chamber...
I got a little stirred up inside at the end of 'Finding Neverland'...oh I love that movie!
I laughed till I cried at 'Shaun of the Dead'.
msgirl 04-10-2005, 12:53 AM re: Steel Magnolias...Icried like a baby. My friend says I'm a lot like Wheezer, the way I say stuff out loud and I don't give a rip.
re: Finding Neverland...I just saw this and I loooved it. Will see it again and again.
The movie I get so upset over and have watched a million times is "The Wizard of Oz". I cry every time that Dorothy misses the balloon ride and when she wakes up in the farmhouse and says she never has to leave home...oh, I may need a tissue!
sayangmouse 04-10-2005, 10:54 AM Gets me everytime. In fact most films with animals in it have me reaching for the Kleenex,
The Green Mile - when Coffey was put on the electric chair
Have you tried Homeward Bound: Incredible Journey II Bella? That should come with a health warning! If animals do it for you - Its impossible not to cry at the end - I bit through my lip to try stop myself.....than the Lab ran over the hill again (doesn't matter that you know he's coming, it even seems worse in a way).......HOWWWLLLL
And oh yes, the Green Mile, forgot that one.....YOWWWLLLLLLL
bridge 04-10-2005, 03:18 PM I laughed till I cried at 'Shaun of the Dead'.
