Errr this might sound really gay but yesterday a new show called Australian Princess started and I watched it. It was only because my sister wanted to but I felt weird...

Anyway then I thought of you guys and how many bulls**t shows you have so I was wondering if you had like a UK Princess...?

Actually Jakey, it's a thing with Brits. We moan like hell about our TV programmes until we go abroad, and then we see really bad TV and appreciate that what we have is actually the best in the world.

I have, so far, been to 31 countries in the world, and have yet to see a single one with better TV that we have.

Back on track but, no I don't know what a Princess prog is?

OK... I was just wondering. Its just about 14 girls that get training to be a Princess and the winner get's to go meet the Royal Family and blah blah blah...

I thought that too Eternity until I lived in the States. I ended up thinking that Britich tv is 80% tosh and 20% ok, and that US tv is 95% tosh and 5% ok.

Without comparing tosh with tosh - I think US tosh is probably much "more tosh" than UK tosh tv in general, the fact that the US tv channels pump out 10x more tv than the UK, if you do the math, you end up with more GOOD tv stuff in the US than in the UK. You just have to wade through more tripe to find it!

I remember a lot of PBS stuff (Public Broadcasting Station) in the US that I thought was outstanding tv. The documentary on the American Civil War was a good example a few years back - something the BBC would have been proud of. Some of the docu-dramas are excellent too, some of the comedies, even the platforms for young aspiring comedians to get some exposure that I don't see in the UK.

Its easy to bash US tv becuase most of the exported tv is the commercialised tosh, but when I lived there, I found more than enough to keep me happy.

(oh, Singapore Eternity....now if you want to see some REALLY bad tv......try Asia! Filipino comedies stand out in my mind - that sort of Latino lunacy mixed with Mr. Bean and custard pies)

Oh I know Singapore very well, I have lived there. However, they do have a lot of Malay progs on their channels, and the censorship is hilarious. Man may be seen to kiss man, but man may not be seen to kiss women. So you get the pucker up, the eyes closing, leaning forward, then, snap, and they are sat on opposite ends of the sofa having a smoke! They are also about 50 years behind us on comedy, and slapstick has them rocking in the aisles. Mind, I do love the naivety, it's like a breath of fresh air.I agree on the US as well, but I just gave up having to trawl though so many channels to find just one decent thing. I still reckon we have the best mind!
