Go for it any day and hopefully I can come this time!!

BTW, I notice this thread now reads: "Survivor Online Meeting 2005 Sticky".

Yeuccchh - is that a description of the event??! :p

Lol Ceri!, 'Sticky' appears to be the new word for 'Pinned' around these parts!

Well, you can pick whatever weekend you like for me and I'll do my bestest to be there, I might be panicking a bit if it's too near the end of April but otherwise I don't mind :)

I'd prefer any date between mid Feb and mid April but will try to fit in with whatever is arranged.

29th January - well I could feasibly make it, but it's two days before I'm off to Belize, so chances are I'll be knee deep in packing.

cheerio!

ils

I was thinking that possibly January maybe a little too early for some with the expense of Christmas... And I was thinking perhaps the end of February (like last year) might be good for the majority although I do realise Scooby will be in Belize http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/ilovesurvivor/smilies/sad-smiley-021.gif

So what do you all think of Saturday 26th February or Saturday 12th March?

Andrea
01-11-2004, 10:11 PM
actually thinking about this, early January would be a bit of a pull on the old purse strings, they are nearly breaking now, and thats two months before Xmas

so ils those dates look fine with me :)

Cat
02-11-2004, 05:45 AM
We could all go to Belize with Scoobs (where is that by the way)?

Coastie
02-11-2004, 06:03 AM
A long way away Cat....towards South America....it's in rain forest country....very exciting....the army and marines go there to do their jungle training quite a bit....Scoobs is going to have the greatest adventure of his life!

Jammie wee beggar! ;)

Well, March 12th is actually my birthday so I doubt I'd make it then... Feb 26th sounds good, but again, I'd have to see if I could go nearer the time...

maxine
02-11-2004, 03:04 PM
So what do you all think of Saturday 26th February or Saturday 12th March?

Both dates fine by me.

Cat
02-11-2004, 03:35 PM
...both dates are clear in my diary :)

Then again every single other date was too :(

Flip
02-11-2004, 04:41 PM
I can do most of the later dates at the moment.

But agree that too close to the beginning of the year is tricky, not least with the expense of Xmas [and it means I can avoid the New Year sales].

So if it is any help late Feb, early March is best for me!!

tigger

No can do 12th March. Tis my lovely daughter's birthday.

ils

That's 2 birthdays on 12th of March so I guess that makes the date of the next meeting

26th February 2005

Ok so far we have got that the next meet is to be held in London on 26th February 2005......

So my final question to those who are coming or intend to come to this meet is, what type of venue would you like?

The bar in the hotel that the last meet was held in was ok, but I wouldn't recommend it as it was not near a mainline train station and it was freezing. The other down side to it was the drinks where quite expensive compared to a pub! The drinks & food where cheaper at The Reef Bar in Waterloo Station, where the previous 2 meets where held, but some found the smokey atmostphere and the decor a little too much to bear.

Wherever we choose it really needs to be very close to a mainline train station so that the day trippers can get home easily. Also we need to take into consideration that some of us will be there for quite a long time, and most will be on a tight budget!

So would you like

A pub - where the drink and food are fairly cheap
A hotel bar - where the drinks & food are more expensive but the surroundings are more luxurious
Something else entirely (please state)

It would also be helpful to know what mainline station your train comes in at if you intend to be a day tripper .....

Cat
09-11-2004, 06:22 AM
Definately a pub, really don't care how rough it is. If we go slightly off drag they are cheaper.

What are you going to wear ils.

 <------------hey look whos back.

 <------------hey look whos back.

Looks like H is slowly sorting them out for us :) I do prefer this :bye: wave better tho.

What are you going to wear ils

I have no idea what I shall be wearing at this stage Cat - but I guess it will be either trousers or smart jeans & a top with my Survivor - Online T Shirt over....

Where does your train come in Cat?

Andrea
09-11-2004, 12:23 PM
well I come in at Liverpool street, but i will probably be staying for the Saturday night, so I can pretty much get anywhere via the tube.
As to the venue, I'm easy, as long as there is somewhere nice for us all to sit, some decent food and of course some alcohol:). But yes ils, somewhere a bit warmer than last time, I think they thought it was the middle of summer and had the a/c on full blast.

I was so cold I wished I had had my fur coat with me!

My trian comes into Kings Cross/St Pancras so I can wizz to pretty much anywhere. Funny enough I bought a new fur today, a leopard skin shocker with huge leather buttons. Its the bloody lovely. £16 from a charity shop. I may even wear it.....

I have to be honest and say I'm not really keen to sit in a smoky pub for a whole day and evening. It's a long time to spend in a pub when you don't drink! That said I'm quite happy to take myself off for a walk and some fresh air now and again if that's where it ends up being held :)

I'm with you on this one Voicy. It really is not much fun when you don't drink and I really cannot tolerate smoke very much at all. I think I'll join on the walks. :wink2:

ils

I really don't think that will be necessary girls - I hope to find a venue that suits everyone's preferences :)

In fact I am working on it now and have been for the last few weeks  :)

Cat
10-11-2004, 06:22 AM
As long as theres drink to be had where ever we are I don't mind. I don't smoke (anymore YIPEE).

Then again if we are going for a walk I could always bring a take out in a brown paper bag. :)

I don't either Cat but I do understand that if you don't drink, that it is a long time to spend in a smokey pub..... and that is why I am looking for a venue that will suit the non drinkers/non smokers as well as the drinkers/smokers ....

For those of you that don't fancy a walk, you can keep me company propping up the bar, as I have no intention of going for a walk during the meet :)

What about if we all went for a meal (nothing expensive, something like pizza and/or pasta) and then drinks after? That way people who didn't want to smoke/drink could sit down, eat and chat, then those that want to puff and booze can do so afterwards?

We have thought about that before Ceri, but when people are turning up at different times and sometimes not even sure they are coming until the last minute it can make it very difficult to organise......

Anyway I am taking everyones views into consideration before I decide on a venue!

too bad rob. As you say - one of these days it'll happen!!

p.s. sheogue - I would love it to be dublin too - all the non-smokers would be catered for as you can't light up ANYWHERE over here, and the boozers [ahem, we know who we are!!!] would deffo be in their righteous capital city!!

If only Ryanair or someone would offer the 2.99 return flights again it might be more tempting - I mean, it's not much harder getting on a plane than a train is it? If I can manage it, anyone can!!

Well to go to edingburgh all told was about £200 for my air fare there train fare home accomodation and meals....maybe £300. I am sure I could get to Dublin and back for that again. The no smoking in Dublin is a big pull AND I am dissapointed in our goverments announcement to not ban in ALL pubs and on the streets and parks anywhere but private property. (Sorry Ceri)

The 'meet' attracts people from a wide variety of ages. I wont be going, but on the occasions i have been there have been peeps there from 20 ish to 50 ish.

You certainly wouldnt feel out of place, and noone would let you feel out of place. We / they are a blummin welcoming bunch, and im sure they would love you to attend and join in the fun and frivolity :)

ils

Hi Critque - It would be great if you could make the meet. I would like to think that no one would feel out of place whatever their age, as we are a very friendly bunch!

I would say the majority of the people that have attended the meets are in their 2O's, 30's or 40's (I am early 40's myself ).

I think that everyone that has ever attended any of the meets has always enjoyed themselves, so I hope that you will come along and judge for yourself.
