I have no idea either! And yet again David Beckham showed he is not fit to be captain of Englands Football team.

Aw ILS, I did think the ref was a bit harsh on Beckham. The first yellow card yes, but the second one I don't think he deserved.

What does everyone think of Peter Crouch. I didn't like him and thought he played uselessly. He doesn't even look like a footballer. He's all legs.

I agree about Crouch Tiggs, I didn't like him either, he is all legs and no skill.

Harsh or not, he is the only England player to be sent off twice in his international career (although I think Rooney will probably beat that given time) not something to be proud off and not certainly someone who should be representing his country let alone Captain of his country! :ranting:

I was impressed with the new lad - Young - he stuck doggedly to the task and did it well in defence!

Just shows, that although they scrapped through a little, England does not need elephant tw*t Rooney to win! I seriously do not think his attitude helps the rest of the team...it's like they are playing scared all the time incase the idiot kicks off and gets sent off leaving them short.

Beckham was unfairly dismissed last night, their were worse offenses being committed by the Austrians at times and they got away with them! Owen so should have got the 2nd penalty!

I thought Crouch did okay...he made a couple of plays and although he is all legs he does have a good touch. I don't think the service he received from the midfield played to his strengths though. Another game and he might shine!

It was dull, dull, dull. Beckham's treatment was harsh, but at least he accepted the punishment with a fair amount of grace and even shook hands with the git who dived. The only pleasure I got was seeing the gorgeous Alan Shearer at half time.

I think that is disgusting, I must admit I didn't think he was good enough to play for England but there is really no need for that sort of behaviour.

I do think the 2nd booking for Beckham was a little harsh but I can understand it, he went in for a hard tackle only 2 minutes after he had just been booked, so I can see the referee's reasoning, as he had hardly taken the warning he was given. Admitted he pulled out of the tackle at the last minute, but he still caught the players foot, so it was a foul all the same.

I turned this on as David Beckham made the tackle on got sent off, maybe I jinxed him!

I didn't see the first tackle so can't really comment, yes the ref was a bit harsh at the sending off but it was an offence all the same and if hadn't had another booking in the first place, he would have got off with the second one.

That said, he is a footballer but he is also a father and he has had major problems with little Romeo. Maybe his mind just wasn't on the game, notice that he didn't take the penalty.

Still...........at least England got through! I don't even want to say anything about Scotland's dismal performance! My friend's husband just saw a huge chunk of salary disappear as he would have been on the commentating team if we had made it through to the World Cup.

I thought England were broadly speaking, pretty lame.

Beckham was unlucky to get sent off and he didn't have a bad game, however, the "Beckham Circus" that follows him everywhere, has to be disrupting to the rest of the squad and I think it's time to get rid of him.

What he offers on the pitch is no longer worth the unsettling effect his presence causes and is certainly not the best work of his career.
