Did anyone watch this last night? It has Karen McDonald from Corrie in it, and some geezer that used to be in Eastenders. they were both really good in it, but the icing on the cake is that it also stars the truly wonderful Ray Winstone.

It was really great! I thoroughly enjoyed it and shall look forward to next Mondays installment with eager anticipation. :D

I video'd this last night, and I have watched some of it whilst I have been doing my ironing this morning. So far I think it is bloody fantastic.

I thought Suranne Jones was great and I agree the icing on the cake is the fantastic performance by Ray Winstone...

I will definitely be watching this next week

Who's the woman who played Cathy? Wasn't she in Corrie too?

Maxine, I think you mean Eva Pope who played Tanya Pooley (Barmaid in the Rovers)

Ive never liked Ray Winstone. In everything ive seen him in, he always plays the same character. I find him very one dimensional - so i didnt tune in.

Funnily enough, Mr H said the same thing about Ray Winstone, and I can see where you're coming from.

Having said that, the one -dimension that he has suits the character of Vincent down to the ground. Even Mr H was glued to the box, and its really hard to get him enthusiastic about ANY TV programme.

I knew I'd recognised her from somewhere.

I do like Ray Winstone most of the time. But whatever character he plays it's always "Ray Winstone" isn't it! I mean even Henry VIII turned into a cockney bruiser didn't he!

I quite enjoyed this but was confused at first as i didnt realise he was a private detective and I kept thinking why were the police wasting money spying on someone's cheating wife! d'oh! once I realised what him and his team were, I sat back, suspended disbelief and enjoyed. Mind you I was flicking through the Avon catalogue at the same time so i wouldn't say it gripped me! They have some lovely tacky crimbo decorations in there btw!! I can't get enough of them!

I enjoyed Vincent but shall be sacrificing half an hour of next weeks episode in favor of taping Without a Trace!

(oh and I find Ray quite sexy...nice eyes and his voice is ooo yum...he just loses out on so many fronts to Anthony Lapaglia is all)

Just watched this and yes, I agree it is Ray Winstone at his very best! Yes, so what if he is one dimensional aren't most actors these days? I really, really enjoyed it, thought Suranne Jones was good. I am pleased that we are seeing her act so differntly from Karen McDonald. Did anyone see him in Fanny & Elvis with Kerry Fox (Shallow Grave), to me that was just the most fantastic love story. It was pure, dead brilliant!

btw - Cathy is Eva Pope and she played a barmaid, can't remember her name in Corrie. She slept with Des and broke poor Raquel's heart. She was also in Peak Practise where she played a right nutter, and she is the spitting image of one of my friends! :w00t:

That just proves the point. You say most actors are one dimentional, and then say Suranne Jones was acting so differently from Karen McDonald. Most actors do play different characters, and very well - but Ray Winstone is just .... well, Ray Winstone in whatever he plays.

Having said that, im not dissing the series, im sure it was very good.

Edited to say - its a bit like Grant Mitchell from Eastenders. No matter what part he plays he is STILL Grant Mitchell

I am confused Bonnie, I did say that a lot of actors are just that one-dimensional and you quite rightly point out that Grant Mitchell is a classic example. SUranne Jones has proved that she is not one-dimensional, also Sarah Lancashire - some of the parts she has played are a million miles removed from dipsy Raquel.

Ray Winstone does play the same sort of charater but he is good at it! Ken Stott is another, he has played 2 hard-hitting dectives and is going to be playing another when his role of Rebus comes to our screens.

I think all the cast put in a great performance. The story line was good and it was nice that the "bad guy" never died at the end and had to pay for what he had done. Looking forward to next weeks episode.
