I saw Daniel Craig in Layer Cake the other night and I thought he was sorely lacking in charisma. Not that I'm particularly a Bond fan though.

I recognise the face but can't think what I have seen him in - mmmm. the jury is still out for me, I am afraid. He doesn't really look Bond material. Like Max I am not a huge Bond fan, too smarmy and the one-liners are just dire and Casino Royale isn't that the one where Bond got married and then his wife (Diana Rigg) got shot! Come to think of it, that particular Bond, George Lazenby only played Bond the once! :ninja:

Nope, i dont think he looks like a James Bond. I wanted Dougray Scott to become 'James', but its obviously not going to happen

Oh yes, now Dougray Scott would have been a fine choice.

Re Daniel Craig, just read somewhere that Jude Law (also in the running for James Bond) has thrown Sienna Miller out of their home for having a naughty fling with him!

He doesn't like like James Bond to me either. I am not a fan and this casting won't tempt me to watch!

He is completely delicious. I don't care a morsel whether James is blonde, brunette or ginger, it is the charisma that surrounds Bond, James Bond.

My nickname at work is Miss Moneypenny, my boss is also a James, blonde and the double of Prince William! I just suppose I am now used to a blonde James Blonde!! :whistling

not a bond fan either but I am a Daniel Craig fan as in him being a good actor (not too sure about the totty factor). I remember him in Our Friends from the North which was on tv a while back and recevied rave reviews.

Daniel Craig would make a good Bond but I would prefer to see him with his hair died black to stay truer to the original character created by Ian Fleming....

I would also like more consideration to be given to casting Gerrad Butler as Bond....

He's scottish....and very sexy to!

(I understand that Quinten Tarantino has bought the rights to do a remake of Casino Royale with Pierce (this is the only book in the franchise the Bond coporation never got their hands on)...that should be super charged cool!))

Daniel has the ability to look vulnerable one minute and likely to rip your head off and poop down your neck the nxt...he has what it takes to be Bond...definately but I prefer my men darker and well Bond is dark haired by tradition....

For those who are interested - Gerard Butler was in:

Phantom of the Opera (the only cast member to sing all his own songs)

Dear Frankie (a pure and simple lust fest drama...he is just drop dead yummy)

Lara Croft (the second one) (hooooo mama...prrr prrrrr prrrr)

to name but a few!

Daniel Craig just doesnt 'do' it for me ..... i like the guy in the piccie above though

Ive never been a Bond fan, but even i could see why Pierce Brosnan was good in the role as he was a bit of a hunk

Nothing like Daniel Craig !!! He is supposed to be tall, dark and handsome ... and i feel that Mr. Craig falls down on 2 out of 3 of these requirements.

LOL SF, don't know really. I suppose I shouldn't really comment as I have never really heard of Daniel Craig and wasn't even aware he was in the running for James Bond. To me he just looks like a wee boy lost, and he doesn't look sophisticated enough to be James Bond. That said neither did Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton, I had forgotten all about him until they mentioned him on the news. He was truly crap at the 007 spy!

I havn't read any of Ian Flemmings James Bond, but I remember reading somewhere that the film Bonds are very different to the book bonds - the book bonds are harder and tougher.

I think the new one is great though, reminds me of Steve McQueen.

Steve McQueen in motor bike scene in The Great Escape still makes me fall to the ground.

Can't really see the SMcQ similarity, Cat, but I agree he will suit the darker, grittier side of Bond which the books portray. I haven't fancied a Bond yet, so I'm prepared to be wooed.

Like wise Pats...fancy the pants off this one though already.

.

Gonna rename you Cat!!

'Nail on the Head Catherine' [hope you can do the same with the nags???]

That is it - I fell hook line and sinker for Steve McQueen in anything - Daniel Craig is so similar it is uncanny. A hard nut looper, yet vulnerable and potentially sophisticated all rolled into one organic green and black vanilla dark fudge. Yum yum, suck slowly and yum!!!

Well I think he's got sunken eyes and skin that looks like he had a bad case of acne when he was a teenager. And he's nowwhere near as cool and charismatic as Steve McQueen.

Being a fan of the books allow me SF:

Bond is always discribed as - Dark hair with a bit of a flick to his fringe...he has a thin scar down his cheek and a cruel smile...basically Pierce Brosnan is the closest you will get to the books description...in fact he is very close to how you would imagine Bond to be from the books...

Hence it should have been Gerrard Butler (dispite the Scottish accent) but I can see Daniel Craig pulling it off except for the Blonde hair....
