Your welcome , FYI I will be filming another series of EttL next May except this time all the Recuits will be American. The Discovery channel bought the rights to the show.

C5 - that was it....I get confused with my freeview channels (I can only get ch5 when I switch the thing on)...excellent! :naughty: except for the fact I'm working and I can't tape off the freeview channels so I'll have to miss the first episode...I wonder if they'll be a repaet so I can catch it later in the week?

Coastie why can't you tape off Freeview?

I don't have an A channel on my video and I can't work out how to do it without it...all I get is black screen with white tracking lines if I try....

I have a freeview box with two scarts...one to the TV one to the video and still it no work....any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated! :bye:

I don't know what you mean by an A channel.

If your Freeview box is connected to your VCR with a scart, you should be able to record by selecting AV1 or AV2 on your VCR (whichever one the Freeview box is connected to) then 'record'. I can't see why that shouldn't work.

Another way of connecting your stuff together is to connect your Freeview box to your VCR with a scart, and then connect the VCR to the TV with a scart:

FREEVIEW BOX -----scart-----VCR-----scart------TV

doing it that way you set your VCR to whichever AV socket the Freeview box is connected to and leave it on that. Then on the TV select whichever AV Your VCR is connected to. The TV will then play your Freeview channels via the VCR, and if you want to record a programme you just press record.

Oops...I meant my VCR doesn't seem to have an AV channel! It goes up to ch44 and has a thing that says DTV but I have tried all sorts of ways to tape and it does nay work...very sad but true!

You said your Freeview box has two scarts, one to the TV and one to the VCR. Do you mean it is connected to he VCR with a scart? If it is, it plugs into an AV socket on the VCR.

If it doesn't have a scart, you can either buy a new one that does, or connect your aerial to the Freeview box, then out of the Freeview box to the VCR, then from the VCR to the TV. You should then be able to tune one of your spare VCR channels to pick up the Freeview box, and use that channel o n the VCR to record whatever is playing on the Freeview box.

Thats just it SF...I can't work it out. My VCR does have a SCART and as it stands I have attached the freeview box to the VCR via SCART (the socket on the Freeview box says VCR so I take it this is the one that feeds to the VCR) the freeview box is then run into the TV via the second scart which says TV. My freinds is set up in the exact same way but when she wants to record she puts her video to AV. I do not appear to have this option available on mine...admittedly my VCR is about 15yrs old but I can't understand why it has 44 channels and no AV option yet has a scart socket in the back. I have tried all manner of options but just can't get the ruddy thing to tape off freeview...so annoying!

What make and model is your VCR?

It's a Sony but beyond that I can't remember off the top of my head. It does have a DTV option but like I have said this doesn't semt o make it able to tape from the freeview box....I can probably pick up a VCR for £30 that'll do the job but I'm sure there's a way I should be able to do it with what I have....
