Last year I received a letter from ITV telling me that I had to remove the web pages I had created regarding IACGMOOH. Unfortunately, due to copyright issues and threats of legal action I had to comply.

Despite lots of notices that it was purely a fan site and not "official", or in any way approved by the tv companies, they weren't happy. It had to go. The observant ones amongst you may therefore have noticed that the old section I had with contestants profiles/pics and lots of info has had to go. :( I even offered to work with them, thinking that perhaps they might like the extra marketing and promotion, but they just didn't want to know.

I suspect that they have also asked Google to remove my listing from the top spot - as rather embarrassingly for them, SO was number 1 when you searched for the show's name. Oh well.

I did wonder why the IAC stuff had been removed from the home page. What a shame!:pooh:

Actually Google will not remove a site by request from anyone other than the site owner

Inactive sites will of course drop down the listings :pooh:

How do you know? Are you a site-owner yourself?

(welcome, btw)

So Google won't remove sites that break trademarks and copyrights?

See here - otherwise Safeway could remove Tesco for ranking higher when someone Googles Digestive biscuits :)

It is the site owners responsibility to ensure that they do not breach copyright laws. Google just post links. If you break the law it's down to you to remove the offending pages, nothing to do with Google, or any other search engine come to that.

Once the pages are removed, the dead link will drop down the rankings - common sense really...

Thanks for the info.

Common sense? - Unfortunately, that's something I'm not blessed with.
The change in ranking was probably also down to Jagger.

No, nothing to do with the Stones. Jagger - the name given to Google's most recent and comprehensive update to it's listing of web sites.
