My mate is dressing in a green clock thing and pinning goat toys on her out fit...she is a hill with a lonely goat herd! :w00t:

I was going to dress in all things yellow and go as a drop of golden sun to...but I have had neither the time or the materials!

This weekend we are going to be in Chester, visiting my sister-in-law and her partner who have just bought a fabulous four bedroomed house with a kitchen the size of my lounge.

I shall be lolling around we should have been going away in the camper van but its the cup final and Mr M is a Man Utd supporter so will be glued to the telly.
I did suggest we could have found a pub to watch it in but he wasn't keen on that idea in case they lose I suppose. He's a bit jealous as our son has a ticket and is off to Cardiff tomorrow.

Well, there's a biggy for me this weekend. My daughters are taking me to see the new Star Wars movie on Sunday evening. That mightn't sound too massive an undertaking, but it'll be the first time I'll have been out of the house for months and we're tackling it like planning a military operation.

Just getting down the steps through the steep little cliff that is our front garden is going to be... interesting, and the vibrations during the fifteen minute car journey to the cinema will set my muscles in spasm. And that's before sitting in there in loud noise for three hours and then the return journey and pouring me back into bed.

Past experience from times when I've been this ill and have attempted such activity, suggests it'll hurt like hell for anything from a few weeks to several months. But I really want to go.

So, it'll be a delicate balancing act between drugging myself enough to manage the inevitable pain and allowing sufficient consciousness to understand and remember what I'm seeing.

And I can't wait! :)

her and the boy have been going out since first year college and are a match made in heaven !

It only my second wedding so i'm all excited!

I got a really unusual dress when i was in NYC esp for it its a patterened one mainly orange with specks of blue, green and brown - its one of those tape dresses which falls very low at the front and has this cool sparkly broch where the bits that go over your chest come together.

i have sparkly sandles and a sparkly bag - i have a hat too but i'm not sure if i'll wear it.........i want to but its v different and bit "look at me folks" so i think i wont wear it.

We're going up to see my parents, who now live in Shropshire. Mum gets very excited as she doesn't see us too often. Trouble is, sometimes it all goes the way of the pear as she winds me up something cronic. I'm the youngest of 3 only daughter, with 2 older brothers. She still treats me like the youngest child.

Example, at Christmas time we all met up at M&D's for lunch on Boxing Day. One brother (43) on chair, other brother (47) on floor. Dad (84) on poof. Mum (72) comes into living room and tells me to sit on the floor and let Dad sit on the chair. I say that Dad said he was fine (I had checked previously, like the good polite person I am). Then she gives me "the look", the one that used to make me wither in fear when I was 10. She seems to have forgotten that I am no longer 10 and it really doesn't work any more. I have the very annoying habit of arguing back now, which she can't cope with. She wouldn't speak to my brothers like that, but probably only because she feels she can't for fear of upsetting the SILs. In one way I'm glad, because she's my Mum and I want her to be natural with me. If we get through a weekend without friction, it's a huge result. Needles to say, Mr P does not look forward to our visits and stays very quiet.

She's got loads planned and it's all going to end in tears, I know it.

As Cat would say, Amen.

It is our School Fair on Saturday and I am helping out at it, doing the teas & coffees. I am also handing in one of jewellery pieces as a raffle. I just hope that the weather remains nice as more people will come along and we get more funds for the school! Then I am getting my hair cut later in the afternoon and we have a 40th birthday party at night-time.

I am on creche duty on Sunday at the church. Katie has a birthday party in the centre of town in the afternoon, and because the flat is now sold we don't have to stay in to do viewing, so if it nice Mr B, me & Abbie can spent the afternoon uptown in Princes Street Gardens (if it is nice), before we collect Katie.

Aww, Patsy! And just where were the SIL's sitting, did they offer to give up their seats? I am sure your mum loves you to bits, but with you being the youngest and the only daughter it probably makes it harder for you. Are you staying over or is it just a day trip? Never mind if this weekend doesn't go as planned, you have a super one next weekend to look forward to! :)

We should have been in Bournemouth!! All our family are travelling down for a whoopeedoo family wedding - but we can't go, it is just too expensive at the moment.

So instead:

Friday: American Idol and a bowl of peanuts

Saturday: I will be cooking a 20lb gammon, a 15lb salmon [it is now ordered and I went for a biggie just in case!!] making 5 coffee and brandy trifles. My bestest mate Kate is coming with her tiddler to stay for the night. Sat night Kate and I are playing at caterers and doing this birthday party.

Sunday: Hopefully nothing too much although may make a video audition tape for This Mornings summer special!

Monday: I really fancy just spending the day in the garden with the family and dogs, maybe have a barby - but just chilling!

Your Monday sounds blissful Flippy. I think i will aim for a BBQ too. We have a wonderful butchers around the corner, where Delia Smith goes - and their steaks are to die for.

I havent any concrete plans.

Saturday i think i will be helping Mr.B in the bathroom

Sunday - hopefully some time spent at the pub

Monday - i aim to drag Mr.B from the bathroom and have a nice relaxing day before work begins again.

P.s. - Flip - whats the video for This Morning all about ?

I'll be twitching. We have a family of birds in dire straits in our garden.

We've got this trellis fence at the top of our building site, ten feet tall and about forty feet across. Eleven years ago we planted two clematis and grew them up the fence. It's now huge, between three and four feet thick, and gorgeous. Mrs Dab's been threatening to cut it back for about three years, but I kept stamping my feet because it gives a beautiful display every Spring and I love it.

Anyway, we had a row the night before last so yesterday she went out with stepladders and a quiet pair of shears butchered it.

Half way through her twisted task she discovered a little nest, buried deep inside the branches, with four tiny newborn birds inside. She'd already exposed them to the light, so she covered them up again with a twisted lump of savaged clematis to protect them (she hoped) from the sparrowhawks and falcons that patrol the thermals above our valley.

But while she was covering the nest the mother returned. The poor thing took one look at the situation and legged it. She's been back a couple of times this morning, but as far as we know hasn't actually been to see them close up. She just perches on a pole about twenty feet away. She obviously hasn't abandoned them yet.

So I'm going to keep an eye on the nest with binoculars from here, and resist the temptation to say I bloody told you so! because I don't particularly feel like relieving Mrs Dab's guilt just yet by giving her an opportunity to shout about it. :glare:

Today I had an unexpected really nice day.
Got up this morning with a slight hangover, moped around all day.

Then 4pm comes along and I can hear music from town.
It was a Party in the park, basically local bands playing on the high school field from 4pm to 8pm.
Well we had our tea, hubby went out bait digging, so I decided to take the kids along to the high school.

I'm really glad I did. The kids had a great time running around the field, we all got some much needed fresh air, and I was really surprised at the bands playing. They were actually very good and some of them were only school age lads.

I will definately go again next year and support the local bands. I didn't know we had that much talent around here.

Today I had an unexpected really nice day.
.

What an impulsively great day that sounded Andrea?? My sort of day!

I had an unexpectedly awful day yesterday. It was the Church Fete, I had purposely kept a low profile on the organisation front, as Mr F had agreed to do it.

But when we arrived, the whole thing was chaos. I had spent most of the morning baking [2 loaves bread, 3 orange cakes and a fruit and choc traybake] for the cake stall and made 60 scones for the Cream Teas, put together all the makings for the teas [milk sugar teabags etc], raffle tickets, made sheets for guesss the no. of sweets. So I was knackered before we arrived.

Mr F went into major meltdown and I could see he just wasn't coping, he was getting more and more angry like a geyser about to burst. So I had to take over.

Anyway after a stressful 3 hours it was over bar the shouting. We made just over 500 pounds.

We then came home I made Saturday Salad and we watched Dr Who.

Today is chill day - the only jobs I have to do is prepare a Lamb Hot Pot and wash the kitchen floor [Mrs HAmburger is a prolific pooer]

Been to see the family, my mum has a big empty house as my brother and family who live with her have gone to New Zealand, so rattled around there and sat down to discuss our hoiday plans. I'm going away with my parents for the first time in 15 years! They haven't been outside the UK (ex Rep Ireland) in over 30 years, it's nice and strange to see them so excited.
And now I'm going roll up my sleeves and do some home cooking! yeah me- cooking. I've made a decission to stop buying processed foods except some essentials. My first week in the kitchen was a bit of a disaster and resulted in my throwing out 15 bluberry muffins, not cheap either bluberries are really expensive, I had no idea. I'm now using dried cranberries- learnt my lesson.
And I've just sent in my live 8 text and was searching for a thread on here, but can't find one

I spent all Saturday at a footie tournament standing around and drinking vodka which was really tiring so I spent the evening just chilling watching Dr Who & Casualty. Today I have just had a marathon clean of my new bathroom and went out for lunch, so I think I am going to have another evening of chilling out!

This weekend we are going to Wales for my Dad's birthday. The whole family will be there apart from my sister in Beijing.

We're going to a gorgeous restaurant on Saturday night in a Stately home which is famous for its exceptional curries (aparently its one of the UK's Top 10 curry restaurants)! My Dad ADORES curry so its a real treat for him. I'm not much of a curry fan myself, but fortunately the restaurant does do other things too.

We've arranged for the resturant to bring out a birthday cake at the end of the meal to big fanfare to make him centre of attention. I'm pretty sure he will pretend to be embarassed - but will secretly love the fuss!

Im looking forward to this weekend too. I havent seen my mum since January - and both mum and dad are coming to stay with us for the weekend. On Saturday we plan to do a little shopping, and then mum and i are bound to get a little drunk in the afternoon (we both have a passion for champagne and i have some in the fridge). In the evening we are all off to the pub for dinner and drinkies and a good gossip.

Sunday we will probably take a walk to the sea, and then we have a mid afternoon BBQ planned (and the weather is supposed to be lovely).

They will probably leave around 5pm Sunday afternoon, and then in the evening Mr.B and I will go to the pub again as Mr.B plays 3 card Brag with some of the locals on a Sunday evening.

Our local boozer used to be a big music venue in the late 70's and early 80's when live music was huge here in Dublin and they've organised, with help from my bro and some mates, a 3 day anniversary music festival with loads of bands from that era playing.

Some have reformed especially for it,and some are still playing successfully in their own right, but it'll be great to see all the old heads again....

Ive got family coming over this weekend to stay. Im always a bit strange about people visiting. I love to see them, but its sooooo much hassle and expense. I think its because i work full time, and so i like the weekends to be stress free.

Tonight i have to go to Tescos straight from work and buy a shed load of food, then go home and tidy up.

Tomorrow i will continue the cleaning (as the animals would of wrecked the joint in the night), and the family should arrive about midday - where ill give them some lunch and sit and drink all afternoon.

In the evening we are having a BBQ and star watching - so hopefully the weather will be ok.

Sunday morning ill be cooking a full brekkie, and then a long walk along the beach. Early afternoon ill then be cooking dinner (they have to leave around 5pm, but i like to feed them before they go as one of them goes to work at 10pm and it saves her the bother of cooking on their return). I think i will shove a few steak pies in the oven with new potatoes and veggies.

Sunday evening i will then go down the pub with Mr.B as he has his card game, and sink a fews gins.

Phew !!!! Roll on next weekend.

It's Eric's Barfday on Sunday, so he has given me his wish list [demands more like:blink: ] of the way he wants his weekend to pan out:

we had planned a birthday bash for him and my brother [bloody cancarians] on Saturday night in the house but my sister's brain explosion kinda put the kaybosh on that. We're gonna have a party when she's up and able to rock later in the month.

So instead we're gonna meet up with friends and family in our local tonight for a pee up and nosh - and probably back to ours for a small seshoooon [ the usual, bring a bottle, an instrument and anything else that pushes your buttons] and on saturday night just the two of us will go for a pig-out in da fave restaurant.

Sunday I've to bring him to some smelly auld tool shop to buy him his "Circular Skill Bench Saw Thingy that's Brill and does Everything and you'll never have to buy me any tools again I Swear ' present.

Okey Kokey Amelijah - how about:

A 10 km walk in the country or at the beach

A really really thorough spring clean of a room or two at home.

Go and buy a dye and tie dye some old clothes.

Make a dream catcher out of some twigs, string and some feathers and beads.

Make a lovely cake and some scones.

and finally a home wax, with a manicure and pedicure thrown in for good measure??

Now there you go - you will never be bored for the next 6 weeks.

Me, well Tiddles has a pool party and barby to go to - he is 6 I tell you 6 and going to a pool party!!!!!! And me and Mr F are being taken out for an Indian meal tomorrow night by some friends.

My weekend was a tad hectic. Saturday at 1:30pm my sister and brother in law arrived for the weekend. We had some lunch and then around 8pm lit the BBQ for dinner which was scrummy. We then sat outside until 1am star watching and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside.

Sunday though went a bit pear shaped. The family decided they wanted a walk to the sea with the dog so they disappeared whilst i took the opportunity to hoover and tidy up a bit. I then popped to the papershop for a newspaper. We then had plans to go and check out a camp site, nip to a caravan shop etc ... but it all changed.

Mr.B got back and told me he had had a call from his sister asking if she could come and visit too and bring her new boyfriend. That was fine and i offered to feed them dinner. What i didnt realise until they arrived was that they were also bringing Mr.B's parents AND their respective children - and they all wanted feeding !!!!

So i spend a few hours inwardly panicking but to them i looked as calm as a cucumber. I also quaffed copious amounts of Cava to keep the fright at bay.

Luckily it was a tremendous success. I found some steak pies in the freezer and cooked them all. I did a massive amount of new potatoes, broccoli, carrots, peas and gravy and everyone told me it was delicious - and it was  I was really chuffed considering i was half cut !!! I then found lots of posh ice cream in the freezer and an apple struddle thingie which i shoved in the oven and we all tucked into that. All in all, everyone went home happy and with full bellies. I was knackered though

But Sunday we are opening the front and side gardens up to the public as part of a fund raising event to raise money for the Northumberland Air Ambulance. Mr F has made some hedgehog boxes which he will sell, and he will have his dovecots on show to take orders for - proceeds to the Air Ambulance. [we desperatly rely on the air ambluance up here - it takes on average 1 1/2 hours to get an amulance here depending on the time of day!!]

We will open from 2 - 6pm and the charge is 3 pounds, there are other gardens in the area also open and this covers all the gardens plus a programme.

But she has had the food sent to my house - I did give her a shopping list - but she has sent one buffalo mozerrella to make a sald for 60 people!!!!!:glare: I honestly dare not look at the rest - I know she has woefully under-ordered!!!

I know the week has only just started but I'm really looking forward to this next weekend.

My sister, her hubby and two boys are coming down to visit.
We haven't seen them since New Year when we were back home.
They are bringing their caravan late on Thursday so we will have from Friday till Monday together.
And I think we are going to visit "The Muckleburgh collection", a local museum that has loads of tanks, jeeps and military vehicles and gets some of them going in the field at the back. The boys will love that........and the kids will too:w00t:

The kids will love seeing their cousins again.

Well, last weekend was a total wash-out. It was the first weekend since the end of April where we didn't have any social arrangments, and I would love to have spent it chilling out with Mr H.

Unfortuantely, I had to travel to Coventry on Sunday for work and had to prepare for that work on Saturday, which meant that Saturday and Sunday were completely wiped-out.

Next weeked should be totally fabulous. We ain't doing a god-damned thing!!!!!!

Aww have a lovely time Andrea.

After last week's fun packed shopping trip, this weekend will be a lot less interesting. Mr V is on call Friday and Sunday which leaves us only Saturday to play with, we have jobs to do around the house during the day but have booked tickets to see a Maori play at a local theatre on Saturday night. Should be good :)

Other than that, cleaning and ironing will be on my list I guess!

I keep checking the weather forecast - hoping it's going to be fine and that todays rain isn't going to make the paths too muddy.
And British hi-speed Rail aren't helping - they've gone cancelled the trains from the station we are meeting because of engineering works :mad2:

This weekend:

Today - Mr F has the car, so me and tiddles are stranded at home, so we may take the dogs for a walk.

Jack has gone with 4 of his mates to 'the shack' a Flip family, flea ridden hovel up near Cheviot, no water, no electric, 3 x outside loos - no roof, walls, or doors and they don't flush either. But I am a worried wart - it is the first time for any of them to have spent a whole night away from home without adult supervision.

Tomorrow - our local pub has a rounders match and a charity auction - all to raise money for Breast and Testicular Cancer. So my contribution is playing rounders for money, and Mr F has put one of his dove cots into the auction.

Flip - Bike ride went well on Saturday - even though I got lost at one point in Bookham common woods and put about 4 miles on the journey. No punctures, no breakdowns, 2 stops at pubs and them back to my place for dinner somewhat tired. Only 24 miles cycled but as about half of it was off road it took us about 6 hours including stops. A few moans about about it being too far and too many hills  but everybody said they enjoyed it.

We nearly lost somebody at one stage - A straight tarmac road running for about 1 - 2 miles though wood that used to go to a car park but was now closed to traffic. We went to the end and waited for everybody to catch up.
15 minutes we were still waiting - had to send somebody back to misssing person. It turned out Sheila had lost sight of the rest of the group - so she just stopped and waited to be found! Sheila was not impressed with us I can you :ranting:

Cranachan is a scottish pudding made with rasperries, I am not a huge lover of it here's the recipe and sorry I didn't reply sooner, only just seen this!

340g (12oz) Fresh Raspberries or Soft Fruit (in season)
10 fl oz Double Cream
50g (2oz) Medium Oatmeal
3 tbsp Heather Honey
3 tbsp Scotch Whisky

Toast the oatmeal under a grill, turning occasionally, until golden brown.
Allow to cool.
Whip the cream until stiff.
Fold in the oatmeal, honey, and whisky.
Layer the cream mixture with the raspberries in four tall glasses, reserving a few raspberries for garnish.
Cover with cling film and refrigerate.
Allow to come to room temperature for 30 minutes before serving
Decorate with a few raspberries.

Basically everyone who went was a good friend of the host / hostess - and they ALL had kids. Mr.B and i were the only ones who didnt so we were left out - even though we tried to pretend we liked the little bleeders.

What i dont understand is ... why do adults totally change when they have babies. Everyone spoke in baby language, and i was trying to eat when one couple whisked a potty out of nowhere, stuck there child on it and we all had to inspect the contents afterwards and give her a round of applause. I wanted to run screaming !!!

We only stayed about 2 hrs and then beat a hasty retreat incase this child malarky was catching.

Bonnie, I do sympathise with you! As as adult who has no doubt changed since having kids, I do get where you are coming from. The BBQ we were at weekend was also full of kids and our two were in the thick of it and we just left them to get on with it. I enjoy going to these sort things and do try not to talk "baby language", some people do think that's all you can speak though when you have kids and sometimes you have to spell it out to them that you can actually talk about other things too, like............. Big Brother!!! That's why I enjoy coming here cos you can post about other things!

I would never have dared to let my children do the toilet in front of everyone and show the contents of the potty though!! I would never even change a nappy in front of a crowd! I do think that is rather rude!

Our day out on Sunday was a bit of a wash-out, as it rained really heavy until early afternoon. We thought about still going but as the events were all outside we gave it a miss. However it did clear up and we wished we had gone!

Next weekend we are going down the coast to Napier for a couple of days. It's a coastal town that was totally devastated by earthquake in the 1920's and completely rebuilt in Art Deco style, so it's interesting to visit and they also have some of the best vineyards in NZ. It's a 3 hour drive from Gisborne so we are going early Saturday morning and will stay over night, coming back on Sunday. The weather has been fantastic lately as we are now approaching spring (starts in September) but the temp's have been in the high teens/low twenties and are set to continue until past the weekend.

I'm really looking forward to it :)

Somehow, things have got really busy round here.

Tomorrow my oldest son starts Beaver scouts for the first time, so morning is taken up with him.
Afternoon, I'm going to church as a friend is getting married.
Evening time, I'm off to a hog roast with beer and wine all included in the price:thumbsup:

Sunday is a day to recover I think.

I have just been to watch Motorbike racing nearby. I have never been before, but a friend down the pub told us his son was racing, and did we fancy going. We decided to head down there as we had no other plans, and i had a brilliant afternoon. It was loud, muddy and blummin enjoyable. His son came 6th out of about 30 riders, so he did well.

We then popped around to the friends house for a quick beer before heading home. Mr.B is now positioned in front of the TV watching the Grand Prix

My parents are coming to stay with me this weekend, and i cant wait. I havent seen my mum and dad for 3 months !!!!!

So they will turn up around midday on Saturday and after lunch i think we will go shopping in Aldeburgh. Then in the evening ill cook a nice casserole, and then we will get stuck into the games. When the 4 of us get together we always play games. Our favs are cards (and we do gamble, but not much) and Rumikub.

Im sure ill get a tad drunk too

Then they will leave me around 10am on the Sunday as my Dad is playing a golf match at midday ish.

I severely cant wait to see my mother. Its been too long.

Im doing NOTHING this weekend - which is just the way i like it. Last weekend i had my parents over so it was hectic, so i need a relaxing one.

We will probably go to the pub on Saturday ... although we wont be eating as we're saving the pennies.

And Sunday will be jobbies day i think, like ironing and dusting etc ....

I cant wait for the weekend to start

I have a long weekend this weekend as im taking Monday off too to get my hair done.

I dont think i have any plans for the weekend at all, although we will be going to the pub Saturday evening as we are meeting some friends there. If my car fails its MOT then we might be in certain garages getting the blummin thing fixed.

Then on Monday Bailey and i are off to Essex *fanfare*. I will drop the dog off at Mum and Dads and then im off to my hairdressers house. She is doing us both some lunch, and then i will get my highlights done. Im normally with her about 4 hrs, so ill be back at mums around 4pm. Ill then have a cuppa with them, and face the rush hour traffic home again.

goodness gracious what a bunch of stop ins we are ... no-one has done anything at the weekend since Bonnie on 20th October last year! (and wasn't it a boring weekend for her!!!! lol ... only kidding Bonnie!!).

Anyway this weekend I'm off out to a discotheque with some friends who I haven't seen for ages. It's a club in Portsmouth with a 70s, 80s and 90s theme, so us 40+ old dears will be jiving the night away!

I've been there once before but it will be nice to go back and see what it looks like when I'm sober ... ok sober-ish ... I was a disgrace last time!!!

I'm sure it will take longer than that!

Deep down in the places you don't want to go, you must be really looking forward to seeing them again ... go on admit it!

I've been missing them since I left the house on Tuesday morning. Stupid isn't it? You spend your time shouting at/refereeing them when they're there, but when they're not you can't stand it.

Bluddy kids. Who'd 'ave 'em?
