Resoundingly so! He labours under the misconception that the fact I don't like him much of the time has nothing to do with carrying out my wifely duties.

I did point out that I had cleaned the kitchen floor, but wasn't impressed.

Well...I have contemplated going to London for the Baftas on Sunday but since my mate is away in the Yukon at the moment it just wont be the same without her so once again I shall leave that delight to others to enjoy and simply watch the highlights on which ever channel decides to show it this year...love the Baftas...far superior to the Oscars IMHO as they reflect real talent not just the politically correct talent...:bored:

Instead of this delight on Friday I'm out with a mate all day playing, Saturday morning I shall be helping to paint the church hall before returning home to watch the rugby...unless my freinds can guarantee their attendance at the pub this week. On Sunday it will church in the morning and then...welll...I may have mum round for Sunday lunch...and maybe a little more rugby. It's dads Birthday on Monday but since he didn't bother with mine at all I shall simply give him his card and be done with it.

I dont have any real plans this weekend. I feel 100% better now, so i think i will definately have one day or evening down the pub.

Other than that i plan a weekend of dog walking, drinking, eating and watching Ally McBeal.

I have a busy week lined up for me next week, so i need to rest before the storm.

What rugby will you be watching Coast?

This weekend me 'n urk will be mostly repairing the house which seems to be just falling apart at the seams for some reason. Floorboards warped, paper peeling, bathroom tiles cracked, cupboard doors un-hinged in the kitchen, blah blah fekking blah.

And even after all this work gets done, it won't look transformed or improved, just back to normal....:(

we've also been told that all the window's in the conservatory need to be replaced. Nothing wrong with them, but the surrounds have rotted. Kinda like saying 'your teeth are fine, but your gums will have to come out'...

Ah fekkit - we'll probably just go to the pub...........

I have laundry, mopping, vacuuming, you name it...all various sundry domestic things to do this weekend!! I feel LIKE doing them for the first time in a couple of weeks as well!! My dark cloud has moved on.
We are expecting snow, sleet, and ice tonight into Saturday and Sunday for our area: Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, N. Mississippi, and N. Alabama. Some freaky front is moving through bringing Artic air in...blah, blah, blah. I went to bed last night and it was 67F degrees!!

I thought I would be having a nice relaxing weekend but it hasn't worked out that way. Last night we went to visit a friend and got back about 11pm, shortly after we recieved a phone call from MIL's help line.

She had pressed the button and they kept calling out to her but getting no answer all they could hear was the tv in the background so they phoned us.
We got over there to find her on the floor as her leg had collapsed under her.

The help line people told us to make her comfortable but not to move her as we didn't know what damage she had done to herself, as she is a big woman moving her without her help wasn't an option for us anyway. We had to wait 2 hours for paramedics as there were lots of accidents last night, poor MIL was groaning as she was so uncomfortable and kept asking us to help her up.

When the paramedics came they used a special inflatable to lift her and checked her over got her into her chair and said phone the doctor in the morning to get her checked out. We stayed the night and I spent most of it sitting up with her. Mr M got a couple of hours sleep on the sofa unfortunately one not really designed for a comfortable kip.

At 7am she tried and failed to get to the loo so we tried calling the doctor. No chance on a saturday they said call an ambulance. By 10am second lot of paramedics decided she needed to go to hospital. By this time Mr M's brother and wife had turned up and came to the hospital with us. An x-ray showed that she had a small pelvic fracture so this meant she has to spend tonight in hospital. We finally got home around 6pm tonight so it will be and early night for me as its back to the hospital tomorrow.

We are trying to get her time in a care home to recover as she won't be able to be home alone but the hospital are debating whether to rubber stamp this. They have the attitude your mother your problem so I don't know how tomorrow is going to go. I wonder what they do if you just abandon them there only joking btw.

Oh Mazz, I've only just seen this and I'm not going to phone in case you are, indeed having an early night.

If you see this, let me and Mr C know if there's anything we can do. He's off tomorrow so if you just need company or anything, he will be here to keep an eye out for Tom (my weekend again).

If you need both of us for anything, just shout (Tom's Dad will have to have him).

They have now transferred her to Bognor Hospital for rehab. Its a good move for us as its much closer and on my way home from work. Their job is to get her up and walking again and ultimately to go home with a care package.

They did this the last time when she had a stroke and promised us all sorts of help that lasted only a month. I don't mind helping her although I resent the fact her daughter, who lives the same distance from her that I do, helps out very little and expects payment for whatever she does.

Isn't just revolting how 'family' lose their mind and forget all that the parents did for them!! Her daughter ought to be just shamed and flogged publicly for expecting pay!! My Granny is in a nursing home 3 hrs. drive from me and I make the trip at least each 4-6 weeks and call weekly and a cousin goes out there weekly. My Uncle, her only son, lives not 2 miles from the nursing home and they don't even know what he looks like!! How sad is that!!
Good luck and good vibes from me!! I'll be thinking about you and yours.

Her daughter is selfish cow her charges are mowing lawn £5, bit of washing no more than one machine load £10, aqick hoover round 3 downstairs rooms £10. When MIL was in a nursing home for a few weeks after her stroke she never visited her once as there was no money to be had.

Her and her husband don't work so have plenty of time on their hands and could help out far more. There are two other daughters one hasn't spoken to her mum in years and the other lives in Wales about 3 1/2 hours drive away, she hasn't visited since last May.

Her other son is 70 and visits at least once a month and he lives a fair distance away so the general care comes down to me and Mr M.

I hope when her daughters are old and infirm their kids don't give a toss about them.

I dont get this maz ... she actually tells the mother how much certain tasks cost and the mother pays her? I'm incredulous absolutely incredulous at the mercenary nature of this woman ... surely there must be more to it?! Does the mother pay her cos she knows she hasn't got a lot of money? Does the daughter not do anything she's not paid for? And who set the rates?

Of course none of the above are my business and I don't really wish you to divulge family affairs on line ... I'm just stunned that families treat each other like this without any reason.

If the mother puts the daughter in the Will she should deduct off whatever she's paid out so far!

mazwad
19-02-2006, 09:53 PM
They had always charged her for cutting the lawn as they had a little business doing it around where MIL lives so I can only assume they either said to mum what the cost would be for the other things or she paid it as they charge her for the lawn.

I collect her money and leave some in her purse and bank the rest. She keeps a certain ammount in their so I know what she has. When she came out of hospital before more money was going and as she was confused I assked her daughter if she knew where it was going. She said that mum had started giving her £20 a visit so she didn't query it. I argued that mum couldn't afford to pay all that so she agreed to go back to the £10 a time. At that time mum was only getting £120 a week from pension and attendance allowance.

With all her household bills to pay it would have been tight to manage. I have since claimed pension credit for her and she gets an extra £60 now but I haven't told her daughter that. She even phoned to tell me how much her rubber gloves cost. I wouldn't mind so much but she never does anything there that involves gloving up as she leaves the bathroom for me to clean.

Maz - i hope you Mother in Law gets better soon.

Yesterday for me was kind of mad. I got a few jobs done around the house - and then Mr.B asked if i fancied lunch down the pub. I did ... so off we went at midday only to find the kitchens werent open, so we didnt eat. So we stayed for a few drinks, and a few more .... and so it went on. Someone from the pub dropped us home at 10pm. We were both bladdered.

Neither of us had eaten all day, so i tried to make scrambled egg on toast - ate that, and then went to bed.

This morning i dont have a hangover, but i am tired. I also have a really bad knee. I think i was dancing like a loon for hours .... but i cant remember very well :nerd:

That is very true Floopy as thats what they did the last time, promised us all sorts of help and none materialised. The trouble is they ask mum and she tells them who does what for her.

I think we will have to get help privately as that is the way its done now the old style home help no longer exists where you used to pay a stamp each week. Now its about £13 an hour through an agency.

I will meet with a social worker and tell them that it is getting to much and see if they come up with any ideas.

Patsy, that would be a fab idea - I would have quite liked to have gone to the match but at £60 a ticket it is a bit steep. Have to say though previous years before I had the kids when we used to go out for all the rugby international, it is a great craic! I do remember once when England were playing here (they just beat us on the last kick of the game) and we ended up in a crowd of a few Englishmen. Our crowd was mixed with male and females and as the night wore on, one of the Englishmen turned to us in a very loud voice "so any of you girls here shave your pussies"............it went strangely silent and I am sure even some bits of tumbleweed went past!

I might go and take the boys out for a drive round the coast tomorrow.

There has been a sperm whale beached further up the coast (it's dead) and they are hoping it will be washed out back to sea in the next few weeks.

I know it's sad that it's died, but I might go and take the boys to see it.

But as for the ladies circle being, as our motto says, "fun and friendship" (don't laugh, a bit corny I know), last night it was nearly fun and fisticuffs:shocking:

I might go and take the boys out for a drive round the coast tomorrow.

There has been a sperm whale beached further up the coast (it's dead) and they are hoping it will be washed out back to sea in the next few weeks.

Speak to Coastie ... she loved it last year when people kept asking her about the dead whale in the Solent!

Is that a bit macabre of me?
My boys love all things animal and sea stuff, and I'd like to see it for myself, just to see how big they are.

If you do go prepare for one of the worst smells you have ever encountered and if the carcass bursts then well...prepare to blow chunks

Environmental health should really ensure that the area is cordoned off as well...if they haven't don't get to close...nasty...eeew!

Well, I got a good little bit done up today before work but still have some to fininsh up on Saturday and THEN maybe I can loll around Sunday. Work was really not bad. It makes a difference when you haven't been up there ALL DAY!! We also got to play outside for about nearly 2 hours this pm as it was NICE! The menfolk went to the Monster Truck deal and had a blast. Hubby has been gearing up for his weekend shift. Msboy #1 has 'discovered' he likes one of our dearest friend's daughter. Hubby and Friend went to school together and when we moved up here in 1991 they started working at the same company together and reconnected and the kids have grown up together. It's kinda wierd but I don't think it will affect anything. I hope to read, read, read this weekend. After the domestic goddess stuff of course!!:w00t:

A "Hollaback Girl" is a debutante on the hierchy of high school caste systems. If you 'ain't no Hollaback Girl' you are tough and will take care of your business and don't traffic with the deb types at school. That's how it has been explained to me by several high school children I'm well aquainted with: msboy #1, and my nieces. Does that cover it??

I'm a very smart, modern Southern woman who is very diplomatic but if you get on my bad side, I can hold my own, either verbally or in retaliation. It's up to how lucky my opponant might be feeling. I am a Taurus, that can involve some stubborness on the part of others to see my way. I think I'm a good egg and I could provide references if y'all need them. Unlike many peoples perceptions of Southern people, I am neither slow, a bigot, barefoot and pregnant, talk as crazy as Hollywood would have you believe, married to a family member, have no double names such as Peggy Sue or Bobby Jim, live in a mobile home with cars and appliances decorating my front yard, and the list could continue...

I got home tonight and Mr.B had already pulled most of the furniture out. All we have left is the telly, sofa and coffee table. The room is echoing.

We already have the paint, and we are ordering these posh blinds that we have seen on the internet as the curtains we have are cat hair magnets. They should make the room look bigger too.

I would love to replace the carpet, but cant afford it right now.

We also need a new lounge door ... well 3 really so all the rooms downstairs have the same ones.

So thats my weekend. We might go to the pub on saturday evening as they have a film crew there and are doing a piece for Paul o'Gradys show about the Rendlesham UFO sightings. You might see me on the telly :pimp:

We had the mayor visit our newly refurbished church yesterday afternoon to perform the official opening and cut the ribbon thingy...saddly since I have met so many mayors (due to my job) the hype was a little lost on me but the evening celebration was fantastic...all those of us who had been involved in the work were absolutely shattered though!

It has been a trial of love and a real tested of patience...

The original builder fell seriously ill shortly after the entire roof had been removed...the replacement took time to get!

The plumbers went bust half way through their work and tried to get back equipment we had already paid for...

The carpets fitters didn't have the right trim for the job and so we have been left with a couple of untidy edges for now...

The chair makers at the factory went on strike so we had some 'fairy tale' like temporary replacements for the big day..they were glod backed with red seat cushions...very regal!

The woman who was in charge of our curtain order had an accident and was rushed to hospital leaving others who knew little of what we needed and as a result the pulmets were to short!

The people who laid the carpark are in a dispute with some other company and so have failed to finish our job!

It has been totally bonkers at times but we still managed to open the doors and celebrate the occasion yesterday! :w00t:

Yes that was a joke...I have never heard of multiplex...the main problems was caused by the original builder falling ill as they were going to do everything!!

Ooo...well their a load of pants anyway...I know why contractors do it (money) but I really think it's about time the government brought in new laws similar to those in Germany that state that if you say a price for a job then you must do it for that job and if you fall behind it is on you back not the person paying for the job...none of this..'Oh we need more money to finish the task on time' which leads to more delays and then the 'Oo if you want us to finish the job at all, since we are already late, you will need to pay us more money!'

I am obviously working today...boo!

I had a very good weekend. Had my final year dinner. It was held at a place called Airth Castle which is very posh (and haunted).
The first night was a formal dance with a champagne reception, 3 course meal and speeches etc so I got all kilted up for that one.
Then the second night everyones partners came and we had a 1920s theme with a jazz band and casino tables etc.
It was an excellent weekend but I'm still recovering.
Photos coming soon.

This weekend has been good.

Yesterday Mr.B and i continued on our quest for the perfect lounge. I rubbed down paintwork as Mr.B filled holes (im sure i got the rough end of the deal :wink2: )

We went to the pub at midday - and got thrown at at 4pm !!!

We went to bed at 9:30 and had a shag :pimp:

This morning we had a friend over then went to the pub at midday. We got kicked out at 6pm and Mr.B is currently snoring on the floor.

Bonnie I am completely jealous - that sounds like a perfect weekend.

We spent most of yesterday bidding on chickens and ducks at our local mart [I got 18 various chickens, 3 ducks and two hilarious doves/pigoens - although the catalogue had them down as silver pheasants].

And today we pulled half on an enourmous greenhouse that has blighted our garden for nearly 4 years - the other half has to remain upright as it is presently being used for quad storage. We built an enourmous fire and burnt the offending greenhouse - I then made sushi, drank a bottle of wine and then made venison with other stuff, then pancakes with gooseberry curd and ice cream - now I am stuffed, drunk adn very jealous of your weekend!!

I dont know how this weekend will pan out - as Mr.B has the hangover from hell today, so i depends how he feels tomorrow.

Basically tomorrow i will be taking the mutt for a walk, and then we are (hopefully) meeting with friends at midday for a day down the pub. In the evening we shall stay indoors.

On Sunday we will be staying in and doing some more decorating. The lounge is almost done, but we have the skirting and ceiling to paint.

It is Katie's 8th birthday on Sunday and it is her birthday party tomorrow. She has 7 of her friends coming round and we are going to have a clay & jewellery making party! I really don't know what I am letting myself for and will probably be hitting the gin bottle by about 3.30pm! My 16 year neice is coming to help out, so it should be fun!

I still have the cake to make - A Malteser one - but I'll do that tomorrow as it is quite easy to make.

So we will have that tomorrow and Sunday we are going shopping for roller-blades and going to a wee fabby Italian restuarant for birthday dinner!

I can't believe she is going to be 8!! :shocking: :w00t:

Tomorrow we shall be emptying MIL's house as it is now up for sale. We have hired a van as most of it will go to the tip. Its sad having to go through all her stuff whilst she is still alive but needs must. I am not looking forward to it as Mr M's sister and family are coming over and I shall have trouble keeping my gob shut about her not visiting her mum.

As we have hired the van for the weekend we are taking the opportunity to get rid of a load of rubbish from our garden, so a busy weekend here.

Thats what I thought Robster but my sister has decided to have a do for her birthday tomorrow - starting at 5pm - and family round on sunday. Up at 6am studying for me tomorrow to fit in my party party life style and be a qualified accountant. So Saturday will be kinda hectic - but it should be enjoyable as i get on with all of Mr.B's family. None of my family are attending. Im only doing burgers / hotdogs with onions and cheese slices. And i have bought some ice cream, cornets and flake sticks so the kids can enjoy those.

Sunday will be a day of relaxing and drinking all the left over booze, then

NEXT WEEK IM ON HOLIDAY:w00t:

We arent doing anything special, but i severely need time away from the office. I have only had 2 days holiday this year, and i feel the need for a relaxing break.

I am hoping to cram in a lot of sunbathing, a lot of drinking and perhaps a few day trips. We live in a beautiful part of the country ... and yet most of it has gone unexplored. So i think we will do a Thelma and Louise (Mr.B can be Thelma) in our new car and do a bit of sight seeing.

My family BBQ went without a hitch. The only downside was that Mr.B's brother bought his kids ...... and they are devils children. They even look evil. I wonder if they have 666 somewhere on their bodies.

Now i know i haven't got kids, but these two need some discipline NOW before they end up in later years in prison. They are rude, unruly, spiteful and they KICKED MY DOG :evilmad:

Their parents believe in being liberal, which is cool if the kids listen and respect them, but they dont. At one point when asked if they would stop scoffing all the nibbles by their mum and they ignored her and grabbed more, she then changed tack and instead asked if they would hand them around. The older one who is 12 turned around and said "No, I dont want to". And she just said "OK". The venom which the kid said NO was unreal.

Mr.B lost it at one point (after the dog kicking incident when the parents said nothing) and basically told them it was his house, with his rules and if they went anywhere near the dog again they would be shut inside the house and wouldnt be allowed to join in the party. I silently applauded him.

Other than the kids the party was great. Everyone drank, ate, laughed and were merry and i thoroughly enjoyed it.:w00t:

i would have kicked them back Bons! I hope poor old Bailey has recovered now. They are lucky he is such a good natured dog.

Well I never got to see Boney M, due to my son sauntering in at 6pm after being out all day and then he fell asleep on the settee only waking up to be sick and say he had a headache. Instead I have spent part of the evening scrubbing the kitchen floor ... cinderella didn't go to the ball after all!

Bloody kids ... you are wise not to have any Bons!

Awwww Dol, im sorry you didnt get to go to the concert ..... what a bummer.

As for Bailey - thanks for asking, he is fine. He was kicked blummin hard and right under his tail where his balls are .... but he is such a super star he didnt retaliate or growl or anything. He just slunk into the kitchen with his tail between his legs like he had been told off.

Of course i went in and cuddled him .... and fed him a sausage and burger which cheered him up no end. He is a fantastic doggy - and i LOVE HIM

Rory is 1 tomorrow, so we're having a little Russell Harty for him

This is Rory looking slightly non-plussed at all the fuss:
