View Full Version : If Ant & Dec left........ Woodstock 29-11-2005, 12:05 PM What if the diamond geezers themselves announced that thewy would no longer be anchoring the show??:drinking: .........what if?..... Aondeag 29-11-2005, 12:09 PM WELL..i would not watch it again. (mite not even watch it again if they stay!!!it's quite yawnsome.) These two are triffic..and I LOVE their accents. catswhiskas 29-11-2005, 12:21 PM They deffo make the show - I am in fits of laughter at their p... taking. If you watch Dec closely you can see him really trying his hardest not to laugh sometimes. Woodstock 29-11-2005, 12:25 PM If you happen to submit a vote in the poll above then please read in the first box....."a national day of mourning would be declared (by former prime minister Carol Thatcher and her father John Major)" where it only reads "....prime minister Carol Thatcher and her father John Major)", which of course makes no sense whatsoever. Elsewhere please excuse my spelling errors. Poor form.....tut tut... Aondeag 29-11-2005, 12:26 PM Is Dec the one on the right? The smaller one?He is my fave...(and i'm not even sure of his name!ha ha) They don't do a very good job of trying not to laugh. It must be a dream job...................jealous. Woodstock 29-11-2005, 12:40 PM If the dou.....duo even, left the show then I'd have to watch that space to see who the new host/s would be. I think a large part of my desire to watch the show is based purely on Ant & Dec's delivery of the/their humour (okay, it is scripted for them but they utter it all as if it's off-the-cuff and unrehearsed) I think they're by far the best thing on the box. And to think I loathed them (particularly Ant) when they were acting (trying to) in Byker Grove......man! Did someone spot the presenter in them.....or did they pursue that career themselves? Whichever, it was a wise thing. They're prepared to take the pi*s out of themselves, not only the contestants, and that is always going to endear you to the viewing public (gosh!, I shall have to refrain from, using that term in future - it's almost as overused as "small pockets of resistance" - a term particular to the news networks when describing, well........small pockets of resistance (in Iraq) Text message: Ant n' dec r xellent. Ant is the tops and dec is so cooool. Luv ya both - u r both true jordies - Woodstock, North of London, South of Glasgow PJ 29-11-2005, 12:43 PM Text message: Ant n' dec r xellent. Bella 29-11-2005, 12:45 PM Well let's face it, they make better presenters than singers!! Did they do IACGMOH before they done Pop Idol or did Pop Idol come first? I do miss them on Saturday mornings though, Dim an Dom or whatever they are called (those guys in the Bungalow or is the the Dungalow), just are not the same. :( I love the fact that they can laugh at themselves and can't quite seem to contain that boyish humour. I wish the interviews with the celeb that has just left the jungle were longer as we seem to be just getting into it when it is time to go. I am looking forward to Carol's interview, wonder what she will say when she is showing the footage of her peeing at the side of bed, because they will SO show it won't they?! Woodstock 29-11-2005, 12:47 PM Is Dec the one on the right? The smaller one?He is my fave...(and i'm not even sure of his name!ha ha) I often get confused myself. However, I'm now able to make the assertion that Ant is the tall one because they had a wee joke about a trial recently (the Ant farm or somethingorother) and Dec (the wee with the soft voice - perhaps the softest in the world, for a male) kept insisting it be called "the Ant & Dec farm" - anyway, that's my only method of being able to distinguish between the two with regards their names. They're both funny guys. I just have the wee fella with the softest voice in the world marginally ahead. Aondeag 29-11-2005, 12:49 PM OH right...the 'serious' one.... I think he is divilishly cute. (Are they lovers???) Dolores 29-11-2005, 12:49 PM my mum read somewhere that they were half cut whilst presenting the show. I have observed them closely since she said this and I'd say they've definitely had a few halfs ... and who can blame they. Without them I DEFINITELY wouldn't watch the show ... I mean who seriously is watching cos they give a tuppence ha'penny about the "celebrtites". Aondeag 29-11-2005, 12:54 PM I've thought that myself..about them being a few sheets to the wind. The state of them sometimes...all crumpled and like they've just rolled out of the nearest bed/bar.... Gawd..i'd LOVE to go for a pint with these guys...especially the one on the right...DEC!!!!! Woodstock 29-11-2005, 01:11 PM Well let's face it, they make better presenters than singers!! And there was me thinking my memory had been erased of the knowledge that they were once.......(pains me to say it)...........artists...... ........but they were.....and now you've gone and retrieved for me those terrible images of their appearances on TOTP's....and.....and the Chart Show, etc, etc.........Voxpops.....argghhh!! - everything that was bad about the 1980's......everything!! awful acting.....to terrible singing......to ace presenting. They found their true calling eventually - what avenues are left for them? I think (hope) they'll be part of the show for years to come. I just wish they'd give Davina the boot from CBB and replace her with...........hmmm, where would the harm be in Ant & Dec?..... It's a bit special, and like Celebrity Big Brother, compulsive viewing, even if 90% of the time it's also eventless. would it be completely bizarre to suggest that that is the shows true appeal, and that Ant & Dec's involvement as the hosts completes the package and provides the show with a certain side-appeal? I do however agree that the format requires some freshening up, and I hope any failure to act on that doesn't force the show into a "Who Wants to be a Millionaire"-type downslide, because that would be a bit of a shame really. Aondeag 29-11-2005, 01:13 PM Soooooooooooooo thankful I never had to witness that..top of the pops and dancing and stuff.... phew! Popsicle 29-11-2005, 07:23 PM They definitely add something to the show - I cannot imagine anyone else presenting it, although I suppose it could happen. So long as it's not Richard Bacon. I remember watching some of "Back to Reality" a while ago, and the clunky presenting really put me off. I recall thinking then that Ant and Dec would have made a far better job of it. Yes, they have certainly come a long way since their "Byker Grove" days! Coastie 29-11-2005, 07:25 PM The only reason I watch the show when I do is because of Ant And Dec they crack me up. If they weren't on it I wouldn't bother watching! Critique 29-11-2005, 07:35 PM Oh dear - I seem to be the only one who doesn't like them much. They just seem to hog so much of the program. There's little enough coverage of this year's IAC and we could see a lot more of the jungle goings on if they kept a lower profile. Sorry  I suppose if you're fans of theirs it doesn't irritate you so much but I'm not and it does. Dolores 29-11-2005, 07:49 PM Oh dear - I seem to be the only one who doesn't like them much. You are more than welcome to have this opinion of Ant and Dec...just because you are in the vast minority doesn't make you any less of a valued member of this site. You sit at the front of the class and be proud of your uniquness and originality..do not let the heathens quash your hunger to stand out from the crowd...in fact stand on your chair and say you are pleased to declare your feelings towards the geordie boys...go on do it! Right Dolores you have a clean shot now take it...go on... Pandora 29-11-2005, 09:48 PM Id miss them dreadfully !! They make live presenting look so easy. Rob 29-11-2005, 09:56 PM For those who missed them in their younger days ............ http://www.bbc.co.uk/tyne/hollywood_on_tyne/images/byker_grove/byker_grove_duo150.jpg Pandora 29-11-2005, 09:57 PM For those who missed them in their younger days ............ http://www.bbc.co.uk/tyne/hollywood_on_tyne/images/byker_grove/byker_grove_duo150.jpg Oh bless. :) Woodstock 30-11-2005, 07:36 AM (Are they lovers???) I believe so......their joking about it all the time could be a smokescreen. But then again I'm not so sure Newcastle does "gay". Woodstock 30-11-2005, 08:32 AM Did you actually send that in? I'll have to answer that in the negative - wouldn't even know how to switch a mobile (i prefer the word "cellular" myself) phone on...... .....damn i've missed Frasier!!! (sorry! - off topic) Woodstock 30-11-2005, 08:38 AM For those who missed them in their younger days ............ http://www.bbc.co.uk/tyne/hollywood_on_tyne/images/byker_grove/byker_grove_duo150.jpg ....er........errrr.........you know, if you had a spot the difference test on an "Ant & Dec now" pic and an "Ant & Dec then" pic (as above) i'd probably find it easier to distinguish between an obese ant and a stag beetle placed at the foot of Mount Everest, while I was looking down from the summit...... they haven't changed!!!!! Aondeag 30-11-2005, 09:30 AM I don't think i will ever stop loving Dec...the guy is a genius. When he interupted david dickinson mid flow (as it were) with that witty comment about carole thatch last night I vowed I would love him for ever. No matter what he wears or how he dances... heehee.... Woodstock 30-11-2005, 09:36 AM I don't think i will ever stop loving Dec...the guy is a genius. No matter what he wears or how he dances... ......so you like Declan then.....??:) ........pssssst, don't tell a soul but........no.....I can't.....I won't.........no, he's okay........allow me to put it this way - I could understand why women would go for him.....and I'm certainly not envious........ Aondeag 30-11-2005, 10:12 AM Yes..I think it's Dec that is my one true love... (the one on the right..the littler one...) sigh...day dream! xrayspex 30-11-2005, 11:28 AM I would try to talk them into making a gay porn film together and offer them more money then they ever made in Jungle- i wanna see them get it on together :) Woodstock 30-11-2005, 11:38 AM I would try to talk them into making a gay porn film together and offer them more money then they ever made in Jungle- i wanna see them get it on together :) If that ever occurs............in fact I'll take complete leave of that thought........hideous notions!! Although you could do a lot worse than having the movie being titled "I'm "A Celebrity's Willy (or something very similar).......Get me Out of Here..." .......no, that's just terrible......it really is.... Aondeag 30-11-2005, 11:40 AM it really was.... xrayspex 30-11-2005, 11:43 AM If that ever occurs............in fact I'll take complete leave of that thought........hideous notions!!
