England will find out tonight who they'll have to face in Germany next year.

I think the draw is on BBC 2 this evening (about 8pm?). The draw takes place from 1930 GMT in Leipzig.

Eriksson has admitted he would rather avoid the "English speaking countries" such as Australia and the United States.

"They are desperate to beat England in a big tournament, which is why I don't want to play them," he said. "But there is a wider aspect to Australia.

"There is a sporting rivalry between the two countries. What I saw during the summer in the cricket was amazing."

Oh - is there a world Cup coming up - I hadn't noticed:whistling

Sweden in our group, hehe, we haven't beaten Sweden for ages.

Can I just add as well, what a performance it was to get the groups together. It took forever for everyone (Linekar/Hanson/Motty/the guy on the stage) to explain the rules to the viewers, and can't Motty go on.

I wonder what referee will receive death threats this time round when England don't win the World Cup!?

ENGLAND

The talent is there it just needs to work together....and play the full 90mins instead of zoning out for goodness knows how long everytime!

Oh and Rooney needs a good solid slapping before he goes onto the pitch so he doesn't lose his rag and do a Beckham by getting sent off....personally I'd rather not have him in the side at all but hey!

Can I just say that Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago and Sweden just happen to be my three favourite "other" national teams :whistling

Ah yes...I think I will pick Sweden as my number two choice to win.
Italy MY favourites of course...then Sweden...
Paraquay sounds nice and exotic too....they can be my number 3.
Heehee.....maybe this whole world cup malarky aint' too bad after all.
Never been a soccer fan, but i can see the attraction.
Now..who else was there?
Trinidad?
Tabasco?

They're just jealous aren't they!?

I'm probably gonna go to Germany next year with a few mates, it's been talked about. Probably won't get to see any games, but it'll be amazing just to be there anyway!

The draw is just stupid! Get 32 teams, first 4 drawn are group one, second 4 are group 2 and so on... it's really not that hard!! Why complicate things!!? Isn't the whole glory about the cup that big teams can get knocked out early on to give smaller teams a longer dream, and if they deserve to win the world cup, then they should be able to win any group!

Jealous - god no Flyo. We can admit that our team is sh*te, we have rubbish players and can put our hands on our hearts and know that Scotland will never, ever win the World Cup!

All's I can say is Wha's Like Us and c'mon Sweden!! :w00t:

The summer will be safe...and pleasant.
safe to turn on telly without EVERY add being world cup based...
safe to pick up a paper and not see pages and pages of coverage when ya'd rather be reading real news.
Safe to buy a bottle of seven up without some idiotic soccer player grinning out at ya!
Yay...'come on ye boys in ....blue???(what colour tops do sweden wear??)

Aww, I know you were sweetie and I am just winding you lot up.....and it worked!!

Flyo mate, you are going to have to explain what PNE is as I haven't a clue. And believe me Scotland are crap, if they can't beat teams like Lithuania and the like, they don't deserve to be in the World Cup! And don't even start me on the Scottish League cos that is just a joke!

Coastie, deep down there is a part of me that would love to see England do well (hubby is half English) but it's when the commentators open their gobs that makes us Scots cheer the other side! Please don't go off me.....:(

Rob, PJ back me up on this!

It doesn't help when they go banging on about 1966 at every opportunity - Ok we haven't won anything - but we don't expect to. This year everybody seems to think that all England have to do is turn up to win. As far as I can see their group is not as easy as some think - they haven't beaten Sweden for decades, Paraguay are no slouches and the only "easy" game is T & Tobago - even then it is full of players who play or have played in England - and it is one game that they will be really up for.

Other things annoy me about English sports commentators - for example - and I know I am going back a bit here - Alan Wells was always British when he won - and Scottish when he lost. I suspect the same will be true of Andy Murray!!

I get tired of the 1966 world cup thing to....but I get even more peed off when they are constantly blwoing smoke up Rooneys backside....his head is big enough as it is they don't have to add to his over inflated ego...perhaps if they didn't go on and on about him so much he might stop being such a prat on the pitch and concentrate more on his football and less on thinking that just because he is supposedly 'Gods Gift' he can get away with being a pillock day in day out!

I am under no illusions when it comes to the England footie team...we will not win the world cup and if we do I will kiss a photo of Rooney at the meet that follows the event!

However I do think we have the potential to get to the semi-finals...provided we can keep 11 men on the pitch at all times and our players play the full 90minutes and do not switch off against what they deem as inferior opposition...and they play as a team instead of several big egos!

I think England could win the world cup if they were not so erratic in their playing. They do have the talent in the team to win it, but lack consistency. I do get so frustrated watching them at times. It will be interesting to see who does win it this time. No doubt it will be Brazil.

But going back to the Scottish thing though, why should it bother you what the English commentators say? It's a shame you won't support a neighbouring country on account of what a few commentators say. :(

Flyo mate, you are going to have to explain what PNE is as I haven't a clue.

That'd be Preston North End, the team I support. You have Graham Aleander and Brian O'Neil for you.

It's an inbuilt Scottish thing Tiggs, we get implanted with something at birth that makes us unable to support any English side in an international tournament.

I blame King Edward - if he hadn't slaughtered William Wallace's wife and if he hadn't hung, drawn and quartered him we would never had any of this! :w00t:
