View Full Version : LOST Dvd
Haydon 14-12-2005, 10:11 AM We really do live in rip off Britain! You have to buy the first series of LOST in two parts here in the UK. Each one costs £34.99 You can buy the entire series from Amazon france for 50 euros! (about £33). Loads of other places abroad you can buy the entire first series in one box as well. grrr. :ranting:
Fine if you've got multi region dvd player. (btw how do you know if you player is multi region?)
Here in the UK it seems to be in limited supply as well. Many online stores quoting delivery in 1 to 2 weeks - that isn't any good for Christmas!
So I've been hunting around trying to find it online in the UK at a reasonable price. Best I've found who quote it as "in stock" is <a href="http://clkuk.tradedoubler.com/click?p=20047&a=370391&g=1025600" target="_blank">Play.com ...</a>
<script language="javascript">
var uri = 'http://impgb.tradedoubler.com/imp/inv/1025600/370391?' + new String (Math.random()).substring (2, 11);
document.write('<img src="'+uri +'" border=0>');
</script>
Someone else might find this useful.
Aondeag 14-12-2005, 10:21 AM Well..it costs 49.99 EURO for the first 12 episodes here, in the shops.
It's ridiculous......specially as everything will be reduced in the sales a few days after Christmas.
The whole series is due for release on Jan 6th...dread to think how much that will cost.
Sigh..............
Kittencat 14-12-2005, 11:26 AM Don't get me started.
I posted much the same thing in another forum (bless me SO for I have sinned ;)) and basically got shot down in flames for having a 'sad' non-multiregion player.
Nice to know I'm not the only one stuck in R2. :laugh:
Aondeag 14-12-2005, 11:57 AM What kills me is that I have the WHOLE bleedin' LOST series (sent to me from the USA) on dvd..ready and waiting for me.
Will watch it at my parents house when I go home for Christmas.
mmm thinking happy 'zooming in on Sawyer' type thoughts........
Someone told me that some dvd's can be adapted to multi regional anyway...
but I would'nt have the foggiest how to do that.
Wonder is it possible...................................??

Depends on the model.
I happen to have an aged Panasonic which, of course, can't be hacked. I could get it chipped but I'm going to wait until it dies and then get a multi-region one.
Oh, and I wholeheartedly concur with the 'freezeframing Sawyer..::
Critique 15-12-2005, 12:37 AM Why not just download the episodes off one of the file sharing progs? It's free :laugh: Or is that illegal? :shutup:
With regard to regional DVDs, a techy friend of my son's told me that you can play most of them on the computer and if not you can download a patch to make them play.
Aondeag 15-12-2005, 08:00 AM heehee..where do you go to download them?
(shhhhhhh)
Bella 15-12-2005, 06:26 PM Haydon, I have found Lost on www.choicesdirect.com for £24.95. It's region 2 if that's any help.
Critique can I ask the same qestion as Aon - where can you download it from?
Ahh. though wait a minute - it states that it Lost Series One, Part One and only includes 12 episodes which in that case it is a bit steep!
Critique 15-12-2005, 08:27 PM In case anyone thinks I haven't bothered to reply, I have, by PM ;)
A great website for DVD and CD is Tesco Jersey. Its much cheaper as there is no VAT!
A lot of cd's are free delivery too.
Loat is £24.89

Thank you Critique! You are a Christmas Star! :wink_kiss :xmastree:
bustywench 12-01-2006, 10:53 PM guys and gals... I've never seen Lost at all, but I'm beginning to think I've been missing out. A lot of people have been telling me it's one of the best things they've seen on tv in a long time. I didn't want to read the other threads in case of spoilers, and I'm avoiding the finale, obviously... but I was just wondering, do you think it's worth me getting the dvds to take a look at? I've got weird taste in tv, I guess, but if the story/acting are good, I'll probably like it.
Worth getting? Opinions appreciated.
Fee For All 12-01-2006, 10:57 PM I lost interest after the second episode. It was a bit self-consciously 'special' IMO.

Ahhh... thank you! I was wondering if it would be one of those sort of shows.
Maybe I'll give it a miss. Then again, I felt the same way about Gosford Park, but I finally got the dvd and gave it a chance and I loved it. But hey, Jeremy Northam doesn't appear in Lost, does he? *cough*
Bella 13-01-2006, 07:27 AM OOoooh Noooooo, Busty don't believe everything our Fee says! ;) I agree the first few episodes were a bit slow but once you get over that hurdle you will be sucked in.
Beg, steal or borrow a copy, it'll be worth it! :)
maxine 13-01-2006, 07:30 AM Beg, steal or borrow a copy, it'll be worth it! :)
Just don't buy it, Busty! Fairly enjoyable tosh but not worth paying out for, imho.
Aondeag 13-01-2006, 08:06 AM All I'll say is:WAIT till you see that blonde BABE Sawyer.
He is soooo yum.
and also all I'll say is: I LOVE this programme...never missed one episode.
I did'nt watch it in the beginning, but a friend gave me 5 episodes all at once and I was hooked....line..and sinkered.
It's creepy...mysterious....funny......annoying....but 'human'.
I hope you check it out.
:-)
Haydon 13-01-2006, 09:20 AM bustywench - I would highly recommend you watch LOST. It really is very good. If you liked Survivor, watch LOST. If you liked Lord of the Flys, watch LOST.
You don't have to fork out £25+ - just rent it. Amazon have got a good deal - you can rent most DVDs (incl LOST). Cost is £5.99 per month and you can have 3 DVDs out at any time. You can keep them as long as you like and when you're done just bung in the post....
<iframe src="http://rcm-uk.amazon.co.uk/e/cm?t=survivor09-21&o=2&p=40&l=sub&f=ifr" width="120" height="60" scrolling="no" border="0" style="border:none;" frameborder="0"></iframe>
btw - it's great to see you back!
bustywench 15-01-2006, 01:56 PM Ooooh... I'm torn now! I think I'll have to at least rent a copy and see what I make of it. Sounds like there's plenty of eye candy to enjoy, even if the story doesn't grab me. =)
btw - it's great to see you back!
Thank you, sir!
