Dolores 07-04-2006, 11:13 PM i missed it ... too busy getting pi$$ed with Coastie! hic! Critique 08-04-2006, 12:06 AM You didn't miss much Dol. If you'd seen the advertisements (and how could to miss them) then you'd seen it all really. It's annoying when they actually show the "punch line". :( maxine 09-04-2006, 08:56 AM I missed most of the episode due to a family 'discussion'. Just caught the end. But I have to say, although most people have been saying how good Johnny Briggs' portrayal has been, I thought his acting was, on the whole, quite wooden. Maybe I'm hard but he really didn't evoke much sympathy from me. I think, probably, he's not really an 'actor' at all having played the same character for the last 30 years and this storyline just highlighted that. Also, you think they'd have given him an hour not just the normal half hour slot. Critique 09-04-2006, 11:45 AM Oooh Whoopee Max. I've been thinking just that - that he's no great shakes as an actor and hasn't impressed me particularly with his farewell performances (but I was too much of a coward to go against everyone else - I thought it must be only me). I'm glad they've highlighted the problems associated with Altzheimers though because it seems to have heightened people's awareness of what a devastating illness this is. No doubt once memories of Corrie and Mike Baldwin fade, so will the the interest in it. I hope some good has come of it meanwhile though. Also, you think they'd have given him an hour not just the normal half hour slot. I think his portrayal was highly moving ... but I think his acting ability or lack of it was really bought to everyone's attention with focus on him being too wordy and calling on the viewers empathy via his eyes and facial expressions of which Jonny Briggs has a maximum of two ... awake or asleep!! It is brave for an actor to take on a role of Alzheimers, imo. I've read of actresses (Anna Wing - Lou Beale in Eastenders springs to mind) who refused to play an Alzheimer's sufferer for fear of casting directors thinking she really was suffering from it. (personally I never thought her acting was that good!!!!). maxine 09-04-2006, 12:49 PM I think his portrayal was highly moving ... but I think his acting ability or lack of it was really bought to everyone's attention with focus on him being too wordy and calling on the viewers empathy via his eyes and facial expressions of which Jonny Briggs has a maximum of two ... awake or asleep!! (personally I never thought her acting was that good!!!!). Oh shut up. Dolores 11-04-2006, 09:03 AM Oh shut up. well really! I don't come here to have that kind of abuse thrown at me!! why is Leanne constantly walking round in her velour tracksuit ... most unbecoming. Danny will be rushing back to the immaculate and lovely Frankie if she keeps wearing it and nagging all the time. I laughed at Danny's line to Leanne "we all grieve in different ways ... you'll be doing yours later with Phil and Fern"!!! I don't understand why jamie is suddenly concerned grandson of the year to a bloke who barely acknowledged him on any level at all EVER! Still i'm looking forward to the "in-fighting" over the Will this week. It will be nice to have Adam and Mark on our screens for a few weeks. Thought Rita was very cruel to poor wee Norris by wrecking his blind date! .....now tell me to shut up, lady! MariaRob 11-04-2006, 09:56 AM Yes Rita is turning into a right old trout. I thought they could have strung out the Mike Baldwin story for longer with him running rings around Danny and Leanne. See the gruesome Janice has returned, talk about make themselves at home in a dead man's flat. Aondeag 11-04-2006, 10:02 AM AND a dead mans dressing gown! You just would'nt. I could'nt believe it when janice turned up...what's the point of her. It was bad enough Leanne going through Mike's stuff...that was just vile. It's not her place to do that. It's nothing to do with her. I can't believe that Danny..after all the run-ins etc he has had with janice would be quite happy for her to stay in MIKE's flat.I know she is leann's step mother and that he is probaly not himself at the moment, but really...I would have to tell her to clear off! Bob 11-04-2006, 04:37 PM Has anyone noticed tht corrie always starts at 7.34pm on a Monday? I'm not being a sad git lookig at everything in tiny detail it's just that I'm usually out on a Monday night and record Corrie, EE, Corrie and use pdc and it messes everything up becasue Corrie doesn't finish till after 8 which means that EE doesn't get recorded on time :ranting: Anyway after this happened too many weeks I scrapped the pdc as it usually didn't start recording EE till well into it and just went for manual timer but put corrie to finish at 8.01 as usually don't miss that much on EE probbaly the postie or someone looking out of the Vic. However. Last night I stayed in and watched all three but fell asleep half way through corrie 2 so don't know what happened with Norris and Rita. Is it worth a mention? i saw up to Lee-ann finding Mike's will. Have to agree about Jamie being suddenly the world's most devoted Grandson. i wonder if it was more to do with getting one back at Dannie. Seabreeze 11-04-2006, 04:40 PM Emmerdale and Corry are always late of a Monday. When we are recording it we usually tape Tonight with Trevor McDonald as well so to make sure we get the last of one street and the beginning of the other. Sky + is supposed to sort all this for us but never does :ranting: Bella 15-04-2006, 02:43 PM I missed Corrie last night, what happened about the will? Seabreeze 15-04-2006, 03:56 PM I missed Corrie last night, what happened about the will? Jamie and Warren got £5000 each Adam got £10,000 and Danny got all the rest. Ken asked Danny to do the right thing and give Adam his share in the business but he wouldn`t. Bonsai 16-04-2006, 07:14 PM OK - tell me if im wrong, but Danny didnt have a hand in the will. If I am right, why doesnt someone ask the solicitor for the date that the will was drawn up. Then they will see that Mike made it when he was still in sound mind. MariaRob 18-04-2006, 09:56 AM Where were all Mike's friends and business associates, of which they must have been many over the years at the funeral? What on earth were Blanche and Norris doing there? Where was Patricia Brake who was Danny's mother and who dropped the bombshell that Danny was really Mike's son when Danny was about 45 years old? Why dont they get a DNA test instead of taking the word of an auld slapper? Why on earth dont Corrie folk just go and get legal advice instead of ending up in ridiculous punch ups? Mike was married to Adam's mother so that must count for something. Also they could easily prove that Mike was on his way to being doo-lally when Danny and Leanne took him to revise the will and make him power of attourney. So many questions. ................................. Bonsai 18-04-2006, 10:04 AM The trouble is - im starting to feel sorry for Danny. He might be the villian in all this, but he really is the best man to run the factory. I cant see Adam - who is just out of short trousers managing it. I know we, the viewers, should feel sorry for Adam, Jamie etc .. but i cant. Jamie barely knew his Grandad so why should he inherit much ? Im getting cheesed off with their snide comments. Aondeag 19-04-2006, 09:55 AM LOL..Maria Rob.That's EXACTLY what I was thinking. It's a poor show if non of yer auld mates show up to the funeral.Just everyone from the local pub!!!!! Don't get me wrong..I'm all for pubs. But it's a bit sad to end your days with only rowing family at your funeral...and those from the pub who mostly came for a chance to be nosey...not to mourn.I know Emily and Rita obviously are the exceptions. But Janice et al! Woul'dnt you just turn in your grave!!!!!! Seabreeze 20-04-2006, 11:01 AM I loved the way Rita and Emily were drinking large Brandys at lunch time and arranging to meet up with others in the evening as well for more drinks. I`m impressed. Les was annoying the way he talked to Gail last night. What`s it got to do with him anyway? Aondeag 20-04-2006, 12:46 PM And what about Dreary sobbing all over the kitchen table, when her Tracey explained about the abortion. 'i'm a terrible mother..wail wail...' Yes..Dreary...you ARE...now go away! mazwad 20-04-2006, 06:12 PM Nice put down from Janice to Sally about her breast size your chest came flat packed and you haven't put it together yet. Aondeag 21-04-2006, 09:51 AM Who is sending all the cards from Richard Hillman! I can't wait to find out. MariaRob 24-04-2006, 10:42 AM That was a quick holiday to Spain for Dannny and Wonkey eye. They set off on Friday night and by Sunday night they are sitting looking miserable in the Rovers again, hardly worth it! As for the cards being sent to Gail, I have it on good authority its........ (highlight the answer below).... Keith Aondeag 24-04-2006, 12:40 PM OH MY! (I scrolled) But why! I will have to go into a quiet corner and think about this. . . . . . . . . Surely Martin would have been a better target! :-O Aondeag 27-04-2006, 12:26 PM How rude! last nite Kevin walked in from the garage...and dipped his mucky finger straight into the dip on the plate Craig was holding. Euuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh. Ha ha..how disgusted did Audrey look when she saw Rita whizzing off in Archie's soft top car! Bonsai 27-04-2006, 02:37 PM Ha ha..how disgusted did Audrey look when she saw Rita whizzing off in Archie's soft top car! You cant blame her really. Audrey is so full of life, whereas Keith is totally boring and depressing. Im sure he will be written out soon as there is nowhere for his character to go. Whats happening with Ashley / Claire and the doctors custody attempts ? That all seems to have been forgotten ? MariaRob 27-04-2006, 03:41 PM You cant blame her really. Audrey is so full of life, whereas Keith is totally boring and depressing. Im sure he will be written out soon as there is nowhere for his character to go. Whats happening with Ashley / Claire and the doctors custody attempts ? That all seems to have been forgotten ? I agree, I think Audreh looks and acts younger than Gail her daughter sometimes. I could never understand how the scriptwriters made Audrey and Keith an item, he looks like he could do with a good bath and is an old skinflint to boot. Bob 28-04-2006, 06:14 PM As for the cards being sent to Gail, I have it on good authority its........ (highlight the answer below).... Blimey moses! I had it on good authority that it was David although the facial expressions when the police turned up didn't give anything away. But what on earth would that person have to gain? But if it is that person well well! PS OT a bit but Leanne is pregnant in RL. Does anyone know how far gone she is as I'm quite interested in bump sizes these days and she's looking a decent bump size MariaRob 20-05-2006, 12:35 PM I think I gave wrong information earlier - the sender of the cards is going to be... Ashley - he is losing the plot apparently and is going to be written out. Sorry Keith for blaming you old boy. Seabreeze 20-05-2006, 12:38 PM Apart from losing the plot what is his motive? MariaRob 20-05-2006, 12:40 PM The death of his wife Maxeeeem by the hand of Hillman. Have you noticed also after a Platt card scene they are switching to a Peacock scene - obviously means something Holmes. Seabreeze 20-05-2006, 12:43 PM Ooooohh the plot thickens. I read that when Gail finds out she doesn`t want anyone to know who it is. but then it says she drags the letter writer down to the police station. Joy 20-05-2006, 02:40 PM There is a lot of speculation that it's David but I don't think it is :D Bonsai 22-05-2006, 10:17 AM So .... we all now know who has been sending the cards to Gail. It was David. I thought she took the news remarkably well. I would of smacked his **** from here to next week .... then called the police. Whats a b*stard  Aondeag 22-05-2006, 11:57 AM She was remarkably calm...(after loosing the rag a bit and shouting at him) But she just went on and did a load of washing...including his football gear. What a weird woman. And should'nt she tell the police it's not Phil after all.... they are out hunting for him. She did'nt even phone Martin to tell him to come round and put some manners on their son! Seabreeze 22-05-2006, 01:10 PM She actually said something like " Your father is at the other end of the country" Liverpool is about 45 mins down the motorway ! mazwad 22-05-2006, 06:36 PM What a boring anti climax. They should stop these long drawn out storylines unless they are leading to a bit of excitement. PJ 22-05-2006, 10:51 PM What a boring anti climax. They should stop these long drawn out storylines unless they are leading to a bit of excitement. Absolute garbage. "Who is ending these cards? Why are they doing it to me!?" "Mum, it's Phil" "No David! It's you! Oh my God how could you?" "I'm sorry" "Ok, I'm puting a washing on now - do you need anything cleaned?" :glare: MariaRob 23-05-2006, 03:53 PM I am SO sorry fellow SO members that I have given you wrong info on two occasions but I got these from Corrie web boards. I thought it was a TOTAL let down and anti climax that Dozy David was the perpetrator, they could have really built up the suspense on this one and had a real who-dunnit - a pretty poor cop out if you ask me. David, who used to be such a cute kid with his Barney rabbit has turned into yet another of the Street's wierdos. Seabreeze 23-05-2006, 03:57 PM Latest rumour is that David is covering for someone else !! If he did it himself surely they would be able to tell from at least some of the hand writing that it was him. Dolores 23-05-2006, 06:05 PM She was remarkably calm...(after loosing the rag a bit and shouting at him) But she just went on and did a load of washing...including his football gear. What a weird woman. And should'nt she tell the police it's not Phil after all.... they are out hunting for him. She did'nt even phone Martin to tell him to come round and put some manners on their son! i thought the writers and the actors handled it very well actually! it was very realistic, you wouldn't go ballistic after finding out something like that. it was all going so well until Audrey came in like a looney hitting David ... Gail should have hit her! MariaRob 01-06-2006, 11:03 AM Any fellow Corrie watchers out there? What's all this to-do with Keith and the roof? If he is a tenant it would be the landlord's responsibility to get it repaired and pay for it surely? Seabreeze 01-06-2006, 11:08 AM I think it`s leading up to the fact that Charlie asked for the landlords number so I imagine that he will attempt to buy the house and throw Keith out. Keith should have just got in touch with the landlord and he should then have arranged to get it fixed but with Corry writers wanting a story line they have done it this way instead. Bonsai 01-06-2006, 12:10 PM I cant stand the character of Keith. He is such a moany whinger - and its not even done in a funny way like Norris. I wish he would leave the street - but leave behind his gorgeous grandson. Joy 01-06-2006, 12:11 PM I didn't realise the house was rented, I thought Angela had bought it? Aondeag 01-06-2006, 12:39 PM They were part of a witness protection programme. Surely the house would have been bought.....that's what normally happens in these situations. If I were on a WPProgramme i would insist on going to a bought house.I would want to cover all eventualities....hassle from landlords..being asked to move suddenly coz the house is for sale..etc etc. ooh the writers have very short memories. MariaRob 01-06-2006, 12:41 PM I didn't realise the house was rented, I thought Angela had bought it? Thinking about it, didnt the Nelson family arrive in some kind of witness protection scheme? In that case wouldnt the house belong to the Government? maxine 01-06-2006, 02:41 PM I cant stand the character of Keith. He is such a moany whinger - and its not even done in a funny way like Norris. I agree Bonnie, he's run his course. He's got nothing else to offer. I hope Ronnie isn't going to get away with the hit and run. That'd send out a bad message. What about Steve and Kelly? That was just so wrong. Steve's not much of a mate. Poor old Lloyd. Aondeag 01-06-2006, 02:44 PM He's not much of a boyfriend either...lol. like..i can't stand Ronnie...she's a pain in the ass. But it was just five minutes since they finished...and then only after another row.Chances are they would get back together, as usual. And off he goes with Kelly! Hmph. Hey...Tracey has had that pink butterfly top for YEARS. I am nearly sure she had it the night she seduced Steve when Amy was conceived! MariaRob 22-06-2006, 01:41 PM Anyone still watching Corrie? Why did Craig just stand there shouting HELP when Grandad Keith keeled over? He has a mobile phone stuck to his hand most of the time, why didnt he just call an ambulance - doh! Seabreeze 22-06-2006, 06:06 PM Anyone still watching Corrie? Why did Craig just stand there shouting HELP when Grandad Keith keeled over? He has a mobile phone stuck to his hand most of the time, why didnt he just call an ambulance - doh! I thought the same but Mr SB then pointed out that he`s only a teenager and was just panicking and not thinking. Dolores 23-06-2006, 07:05 AM awwww who could fail to be moved last night as Craig and Rosie said goodbye on the doorstep (with Sally hovering in the background!!). it brings back all those feelings of your first love doesn't it. I wept! Seabreeze 23-06-2006, 09:00 AM I notice all the kids are slowly going out of Corry. I wonder if this was because they have to study for exams ? Aondeag 23-06-2006, 10:02 AM Ah bum...I was out last nite and missed this. wots it doing on a thursday nite anyways. :-/ Bonsai 23-06-2006, 10:40 AM Will someone please shoot David. I will do it myself if needs must .... but he is getting right on my t*ts. MariaRob 23-06-2006, 11:26 AM Will someone please shoot David. I will do it myself if needs must .... but he is getting right on my t*ts. If Gail says to him one more time "I can trust you can't I" I will SCREAM. If there ever was a candidate for bringing back National Service it has to be the waste of space that is David Pratt. Critique 24-06-2006, 10:00 AM If Gail says to him one more time "I can trust you can't I" I will SCREAM. If there ever was a candidate for bringing back National Service it has to be the waste of space that is David Pratt. Yeah the vision of Gail smiling down on him and looking all proud makes me want to vomit. Wake up Woman, he's taking you for a mug and you're too besotted to see it. Aondeag 26-06-2006, 12:03 PM That woman is sooo stupid. To think she could actually have the brains to home school her brat. Wake up missis!!!!! Woodstock 28-06-2006, 10:08 PM ...ohhh not another reality show! Bonsai 10-07-2006, 06:40 PM Shelley, Shelley, Shelly - how silly are you ? MariaRob 11-07-2006, 10:14 AM Thought it was stretching the imagination a bit that Shelley would have sex with Charlie on the floor in the pub after everything that had happened. She wasnt even drunk. See the annoying Sarah and Jason are to get wed - SCROLL DOWN FOR A SPOILER Jason climbs out the window of the Registry Office and leaves SL standing at the alter so to speak. I expect it will make Gail incandescent again and she will make that awful face. Aondeag 11-07-2006, 11:58 AM LOL..i'm glad i read that spoiler.I will REALLY look forward to that! oooh that Charlie last night! What a swine! He saunters back in..not a bother on him..AND he gets a pizza as well! Hee. MariaRob 11-07-2006, 12:05 PM ha ha yes, I wondered why Charlie ordered pizza when he had just scoffed spaghetti, obviously shagging two women in one night worked up an appetite! |
