since you ask ...not really!

you could have been more specific and called it "General thoughts about the opening show" as it is it could be just one great long thread that rambles on for the next three weeks! :kid:

I thought the same thing when Barrymore came out (sorry no pun intended:w00t: ) first. I thought they'd leave him till last.
So it had to be a big/controversial person to come last.

I think it's a great mix of people with lots of potential for fireworks considering the huge egos in there. Certainly should be more entertaining than Celeb in the Jungle although I did end up thinking it was quite nice to see everyone getting on for a change.

It was interesting as each new person came in - there was none of the usual excitement you get with the 'normal' (although I use the term loosely) BB housemates. They were just all trying to be so cool.

Well, there are two vile people in the house in my opinion. Barrymore shouldnt be in there at all after leaving the country under a very suspicious cloud and Jodie Marsh is such a vile slapper that she doesnt really rate as a celeb.

Faria is also someone, like Jodie, who doesnt actually do anything apart from appear in the papers in kiss and tells.

Jodie (according to her) is apparently a "famous author".......... good god, just how deluded is that woman?

In fact looking at all the celebs, I think the word Zelebs springs to mind as none of them are A, B or even C list.........

I was at the launch show last night...what a great experience! I nearly peed my pants with excitement just seeing the house. haha. And I must say I was more excited to see Davina than any of the potential celebs. I was right at the bottom of the steps though and was definitely on tv when they'd stand on that little platform before going up the steps...so y'all may have seen me even though you wouldn't know it was me. lol.

When Chantell came out it was hilarious...I thought at first when she stepped out it was Paris Hilton...i had to do a double take. And then when no-one knew who she was it was quite funny...some claimed to have known she was a singer or from something or other....we didn't get to see her pre-entrance clip so none of us knew she was not a celeb.

I was most excited to see Dennis Rodman because he was pretty much the only one I knew....haha. But I think the crowd was most excited to see Michael Barrymore. They seem like an interesting bunch tho. For me it'll be a bit like watching a regular season cause I don't know most of them. Definitely an odd mix of people.

Funny how some of the crowd thought they knew who Chantelle was, (interesting to note you didn't get to see the pre-clips, I thought they'd show them on the big screens) just shows how dumb some of the british public are. Someone comes out of a limo, on a show, therefore they must be famous:laugh:

Lol...we got to see some of the pre-clips...but others not...it depended on if there were other celebs within sight or earshot of the big screen outside that they show the clips on...as they didn't want celebs figuring out who was in there before going in...

I thought it was a crummy line-up right up until the moment they revealed Mr "I'm no friend of Saddam" Galloway would be the final CBB house member. I'm so glad that i was not eating when they showed those gruesome images of Pete Burns' lips....though i'm not so sure some of you will have escaped that unfortunate predicament. In which case my sympathy is all yours.....

Mr Barrymore's self-intro made me cringe slightly - nothing to do with the "did he do it or didn't he?" factor. Not for the likes of me to cast aspersions when i am not in full possession of the facts, and he hasn't been proven guilty in any way so as far as i'm aware, he didn't do it - whatever it is he didn't do! - anyway, it just made me cringe.....'cos it wasn't funny, and i imagine it was supposed to be.

Pete Burns' lips.....oh deary me, Pete Burns' lips! - why, why, soddin' why? do they do these things to themselves?. He actually would look quite attractive as a ladyboy, if only if it weren't for the dinghy just beneath his nose. If you're ever involved in a maritime disaster, you better hope and pray that you are sat somewhere near Mr Burns - if he happens to be on your ship. He would be your first and possibly only opportunity to save yourself from drowning. That said, he's actually a genuine enough fella.....lady....

Now......another thing that made me cringe with disgust......
Dennis Rodman.......not his tattoos..........not his shades - though they are flippin' annoying......but.......it was the manner in which he thrust himself all over the "normal" girl from Essex.....and then wouldn't let go.
Hey, Mr Rodman!!......how about try mingling with some of the others......
Even when the Maggot-boy, who incidentally, i rather like, asked Rodman to join them in the sauna, it was apparent that the one-time basketball player was too important to be "asked".....not "told", even. Lord only knows what reaction he would have given had the Maggot-boy demanded he come along and join them.

Unfortunately, when the threesome were adopting their respective ducks, there was only ever going to be one choice for Mr. Rodman........there it was, swimming by its lonesome - it was of course Mr Black rubber ducky, yet it was fast turning into a quite awkward and uncomfortable moment. Does the Maggot-boy suggest to Mr. Rodman "hey, you take the Black duck....." and risk getting a good thumping, or....does........ah, wait a moment......everything is okay.........Mr Rodman has claimed the black duck anyway, before anyone even managed to utter a word.....why?.....well it's obvious.....he's Black and he's proud.......phew!, thank God for that!

What's made me laugh most thus far? Simply the moment when Jodie Marsh was sat down gawping miserably or disgustrdly - probably the latter, at Pete Burns. I can only wonder what it was about him that was prompting such a stare in the first place......

Haven't seen much else since.....though i suppose Mr Rodman has got his obvious wishes and bonked (i originally said "raped" - but that is a bit harsh) the White girl from Brisbane by now......

Oh, and i think Pete Burns is a composite of Kimberley Davies and Jackie Stallone.....

I think Mr Galloway should start lobbying immediately for the pullout of "shan't-tell". It's getting dirty in there and i think it's a battle the poor girl cannot ever win. She's being placed in harms way on a daily basis and the situation is going to spiral into extreme hostility if an exit strategy is not thought up and put into action pretty damn soon.

I'm not really sure why we don't like George Galloway ... I mean he was against the war in Iraq wasn't he? I'm waiting to be educated as I have an open mind.

That was exactly the way I felt before the first show. I really did admire the man, purely for what I thought were his 'principles' in opposing an illegal war. I was delighted when he ousted Oona King. I cheerleaded for him in his mudslinging match with the neocon Chris Hitchens, and I was really rooting for him when he went to capitol hill to take on the senate committee. I thought he was such an original, colourful character. I almost had a damn crush on the guy, god help me!

But from the moment he was announced, it started to slide. At first I sat there, absolutely dumbstruck that he was even appearing on the show, and cringing to myself 'well hey, there goes your credibility, Georgie.' And that was before he opened his mouth and revealed himself as a thoroughly charmless, feebly manipulative misogynist halfwit.

I am so very disappointed. And I'm angry, too, that an elected member of parliament is so degrading his own position and openly neglecting his own constituents in pursuit of material gain. And I'm even more angry that the principles that he stood for, as regards the Iraq war, are also being degraded by association. In fact, now I'm utterly convinced that he never even believed any of the righteous, humanistic principles he so loudly advocated. He is clearly the kind of man who only acts, and only projects an opinion, if it is solidly in his own interests.

Absolute disillusionment is a bitter pill indeed. =(

It just seems to me that every conversation is internal. By which i mean almost every topic of conversation is centred on what is going on or has gone on in the house. I'm finding that aside from Pete - though even he is guilty by extremes, that they need to just change the record, even if just for a wee while, and look externally for a source of conversation. Here we have 9.5 celebrities who have supposedly seen it all, done it all, and heard it all, and yet all they seemed to be bothered about is "who's drinking all the soya milk?..." or "who they believe will win without any doubt whatsoever" etc, etc.

Surely, one of them can offer something forth that will alter the mood of the house, even if just for one day, evening, half hour, whatever. Only on very isolated occasions since the show began has there been any real conversations concerning external events. I mean, even Jimmy Savile (only one "L") tried his best to kick-start them.

Perhaps the celebs have been discussing other matters entirely and it just happens to be the manner in which Big Brother is being edited. If that's the case, then for the sake of diversification, Big Bro. must try and do something to put that right.

Last year the celebs did engage in interesting topics of conversation, even if we couldn't translate much of what was being uttered by Bez into standard English. The point is, he tried, and those around him made efforts too. I just feel that at the moment they all need to indulge in a good old-fashioned game of hide-and-seek, just to lighten the mood somewhat. A few late-night pillow fights. Drinking games. Something. Anything.

Though to be fair, it really does seem like this particular set is being starved of fun. I am absolutely sure that last year's group were given much more to do in the way of tasks and passing the time of day. What's happened to all that? Is it all to come or is Big Brother feeling particularly wicked this time around?

It seems like it.

Funny you should say that Woodstock because I just said exactly that to Mr C who really couldn't care less and retreated to the loft to escape my ramblings and play with his flight simulator - lol. But I agree, they don't seem to have any structure to their day. There used to be regular "tasks" on the last one I'm sure but apart from a few silly disjointed bits and pieces we haven't seen them doing much as a team. They all just seem bored out of their skulls.

I suppose if they do talk about the outside we get the sound dips in case they say anything libellous :(

Good grief!

Never have i seen a set of celebrities in that house or a certain jungle with such sorry-looking expressions worn on their faces. Cheer bloody up. Crikey Almighty!

There are three comedians in that house - Barrymore, Mr Burns and Traci Bingham. What became of jocularity and where is the group banter?

Too busy acting like a big bunch of toddlers, that's the problem here. He did this and she did that and.....oh my life! He must have voted for me and sh'e going to vote for me next...bla bla bla...for the sake of Algeria, would you please just quit concerning yourselves with votes! votes! votes! - it's become an obsession with them. I can't bear to watch any longer (although i will of course). The constant arguing and bickering.....always over the most trivial things. Half the time i cannot even catch the gist of what it is they are actually arguing about it is that trivial and meaningless.

Dennis obviously needs to bang their bloody heads together and soon.

The main culprits being Maggot, Pete, & George - sort 'em out Rodders will ya.

OMG - it has all kicked off big time on the live feed tonight. Major row between George and Michael - thought they were going to come to blows.
It just went on and on, slagging each other off. If you haven't got live feed don't miss tomorrow night's program. They'll have to edit it heavily because it just went on for so long but you'll get the gist that Michael and George have told each other a few home truths. ~ Crit

* * *

Ahh, it's okay, i spotted your post above on another thread. Crikey - sounds like the horsesh*t really hit the fan in there. I was right about one half of the confrontation - had to be Galloway involved somewhere.
I had noticed there was a divide developing over the last few days, and i don't mind bickering so long as manifests from a worthwhile source and concludes with a point well made. I wait with baited breath to see if that's the case here.

If not, I'll settle for a good old-fashioned punchup for punchup's sake...but we've already seen for ourselves in the gym that Galloway punches like a wallaby....and Barrymore has muppet arms....ought to be a fair contest.

What's extraordinary is that in the ordinary BB, the housemates are hand-picked for their ability to cause friction with one another. And yet celeb BB (and I assume the slebs weren't exactly kicking the door down in their enthusiasm to apply) has created just as much tension, back biting and all round nastiness.

With the exception of Maggot who I expect is is too ordinary by BB standards and Chantelle to some degree, I dislike them all. I thought both George and Pete were ok initially, but their vicious and unwarranted attacks on the younger members of the household has made nasty viewing.

An opportunity for the housemates to pick out a few decent postcards and use up the remainder of their Fujifilm before that awkward quiet sets in prior to boarding the jet for the long, regretful, and sombre journey home.

This is the time for the non-speakers of the group to take their leave - for the sake of the viewer. A time when the cameras begin focusing on the few, rather than the few AND the incidental "passers-by".

Chantelle must pack up her silly giggles and go, Dennis his "don't-go-there's", and George.......well, he ought not to even bother with the packing as he has plenty of baggage to deal with once he departs the house.....

It's been good, but it's all downhill from midnight tonight.:bored:
