View Full Version : Should George G be suspended as an MP? MariaRob 14-01-2006, 02:24 PM The Sun is getting a petition up to have George Galloway suspended when he comes out of the house for inappropriate behaviour - do you think he deserves it, I am afraid I do. Fee For All 14-01-2006, 03:05 PM Me too. You can also do something here. (http://www.pledgebank.com/celebBB) Rob 14-01-2006, 03:12 PM I don't really see what grounds they have - making a fool of yourself is not grounds - otherwise we'd have to disqualify several MPs. Even being away from his constituency for a while is not a reason - plenty of MPs go away when the House is still sitting. maxine 14-01-2006, 04:43 PM I'm not sure what you have to do to get you suspended from the house but if John Prescott can survive punching someone in the gob then I'm sure Galloway will survive impersonating a cat. I do think that he's sticking 2 fingers up to his constituents by going in there though. I understand he's missed a couple of important votes concerning Crossrail and a hospital. Cat 14-01-2006, 04:51 PM What a load of old twoddle. I am enjoying George in the house and he instigates most of the more interesting discourse and he kisses people sur la tete noch mal. Why don't people just chill and enjoy the show maxine 14-01-2006, 04:52 PM Why don't people just chill and enjoy the show But that's part of enjoying the show - slagging off the inmates. Cat 14-01-2006, 04:59 PM But that's part of enjoying the show - slagging off the inmates. This is true Maxine...I should learn to chill with peoples comments shouldnt' I. Its like a double chilled sword. Fee For All 14-01-2006, 05:00 PM ...but presumably they are still contactable! And I think there are a number of issues in the Code, but particularly Members shall at all times conduct themselves in a manner which will tend to maintain and strengthen the public's trust and confidence in the integrity of Parliament and never undertake any action which would bring the House of Commons, or its Members generally, into disrepute I don't think the amount of global headlines generated has done this! Cat 14-01-2006, 05:11 PM ...but presumably they are still contactable! And I think there are a number of issues in the Code, but particularly I don't think the amount of global headlines generated has done this! What about Edwina...she was shagging John wasn't she???? And the eggs.....yes egggate. secrets 14-01-2006, 05:16 PM Reading the thread title Should George G be suspended..... I envisaged ..... from the nearest tree by his neck. Oh well, there's time yet. Fee For All 14-01-2006, 05:28 PM What about Edwina...she was shagging John wasn't she???? And the eggs.....yes egggate. 1. Not on primetime telly (unless I missed something ) 2. She was forced to resign over egggate :kid: Bella 14-01-2006, 07:16 PM 2. She was forced to resign over egggate :kid: Thing is..............she was right! bridge 15-01-2006, 02:01 PM Yes the man is a complete disgrace. bustywench 15-01-2006, 02:04 PM Yes, I think he should. There's a fine line between being a credible public servant and being an ego-tripping media trollop, and I'm pretty sure he's crossed it. Repeatedly. Bella 15-01-2006, 02:09 PM Yes, I think he should be and never be allowed to darken the doors of The House of Commons ever again! I wonder how he explain himself when he gets evicted! Flip 15-01-2006, 02:27 PM I have no opinions one way or the other about George being in the house or otherwise - what are the grounds people think he shouldn't?? The only thing I am wondering is has he booked 2 weeks off parlimentary work and treated this like a holiday - if so then whats the problem?? If he hasn't and this is a break in which he should be working then I can understand people being a bit miffed. Somehow I doubt he would have done this - there is too much to lose for him. Cat 15-01-2006, 02:35 PM Based on what I've seen of him on the show I like him and think he's been a great housemate..dont' care about the rest. bustywench 15-01-2006, 02:48 PM I wonder how he explain himself when he gets evicted! I imagine the oily wriggling will go something like this... "In an age of voter apathy and mass disengagement amongst the young of this great nation, <cue: lush, orchestral background music> I have dared to think outside the small-minded, lickspittle box, and attempt to reach out and engage our youth on a practical level. I have given, entirely selflessly, of my time, my matchless erudition, and my irresistible physicality, in order to work towards the noble goal of bridging the huge gap between the electorate and those who claim to represent them. A gaping breach created by Tony Blair and his acolytes, and a gap which only my ego is massive enough to fill. And I say to you, Tony Blair, and YOU, George Bush, I say this...! I say: you lack the courage to expose your own weaknesses to the public, you are afraid to be human! Through my relentless misogyny, my sniping hypocrisy, my depthless arrogance, and my unfathomable snobbery, I have shown myself a true man of the people, a true friend of the average voter, a true representative of the Great British Public. <music swells to a patriotic crescendo> And I say this to my critics! I say: let he who is without sin cast the first stone! Let the proponents of this shameful conspiracy to rob me of my rightful, mandated position in parliament, crawl out of their stinking bunkers and show themselves! Let them follow the example I have set and demonstrate true transparency, real willingness to embrace the electorate, and genuine, selfless humanism. And, for the record, fanmail should be directed to my agent, who will also be handling all newspaper bids for my story. And don't panic, ladies of the press, there's more than enough Galloway to satisfy all of your enquiries. <twinkling grin>" Cat 15-01-2006, 02:57 PM I imagine the oily wriggling will go something like this...
