View Full Version : Davina's interviews.....
Pandora 21-01-2006, 04:56 PM ............ have been appalling.
A good interviewer, no matter how difficult the guest is, or how unforthcoming they are, knows how to get the best out of them. Davina doesnt.
Her interview with Faria was poor, with monosyllabic answers and Davina just saying her usual "Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" between questions.
Last night's interview with Rula was downright strange. I realise that Pete had kicked off and wouldnt be at the sofa's for the result, but Davina seemed to be on another planet !!!
Firstly she has a very strange, "just got out of bed" hairstyle featuring a strange curly fringe which she doesnt appear to able to see out of, then we had the completely OTT gurning and huge big fake, forced laughs and gestures during her interview with Rula.
There seemed something wrong last night. Rula's interview, once she got going wasnt bad, but Davina was all over the place, on edge, forced and the whole show had a feeling of being a bit of a shambles.
Had the Police coming to confiscate the gorilla coat/pete's non appearance thrown Endemol do you think??? As I said, something just "wasnt right" last night..............:sly:
floopy 21-01-2006, 07:28 PM Yup, Davina did seem very very manic last night. She was like an excited child, doing huge cheesy grins and bouncing on the edge of her seat, then giggling.
If I didn't know better, I'd think she was on summat :glare:
Critique 21-01-2006, 10:35 PM I couldn't agree more. It was yet another cringe-making viewing.
It seemed like they rehearsed and prepared all the interview and questions that they were going to ask Traci and then went "Oh **** Rula's out". Can just hear Davina saying "Where's the Rula questions? Whaaaat - you can't find them, wing it you say? I can't, I'm having a bad hair day. How much? Oh, OK I'll think of something" ;)

Spot on. That's exactly what it felt like, watching it. Almost as if Davina had turned up 3 minutes before Rula's exit, with no script, no questions and was overcompensating by gurning, bouncing about and laughing loudly and so falsely, it was embarrassing.
If I didn't know better, I'd think she was on summat :glare:
Floopy, that's exactly what Mr P said!
bridge 23-01-2006, 08:13 AM my hubby can't stand Davina, he thinks she is very false.
Bonsai 23-01-2006, 08:24 AM my hubby can't stand Davina, he thinks she is very false.
Mine hates her too. He hates the way she says 'listen' before every sentence, and gurns continuously.
Woodstock 23-01-2006, 09:40 AM I'm looking at these posts and thinking "hmm, perhaps it is now the right moment to commence with my "BOOT OUT DAVINA, HIRE HALE & PACE" campaign.
She looks more like an unsuccesful swimming pool attendant than a succesful tv presenter and i don't understand why CH4 persist with her.
:nono:
Please give deadwood Davina the chop and hand Hale & Pale their rightful rebirth. Youv'e got to....you've just got to.....
MariaRob 23-01-2006, 10:52 AM I have never liked the dreadful shouty showoff and think BBLB's Dermot would be far far better. I dont know why producers persist with her, isnt she doing a chat show? Dire.
JakeyBoy 23-01-2006, 02:10 PM Got a question about her, is she in a way rude to the crowd?
Pandora 23-01-2006, 03:10 PM Got a question about her, is she in a way rude to the crowd?
The opposite, JakeyBoy, she positively tries to get them on side by acting like she is "one of the gang"..... constantly pulling faces and being all matey with them.
She comes across as someone desperate to be "in" with the majority and too afraid to put her own opinion across.
Over the last couple of years her presenting/interview skills have deteriorated abominably, almost as if she knows that the Big Brother shows are "her gig" and she doesnt have to try so much anymore....

Woodstock, are you a mental??? They were crap in their heyday.....

OK. Gretel is always telling our crowd to shut up but then again she too is matey with them. But it seems, Davina is taking it way to far:sly:

The answer to your question is a "definite maybe", and i agree to a degree with the opinion that followed. Yes, they were crap - however, i feel it in my bones they would go down a storm as presenters of CBB. Horses for courses and all that. Without wanting to sound too Richard Dawkins-ish, if we liken the pair's comedy shows from the 80's to a racecourse, and their various sketches to hurdles, and, into the bargain, they were handed crap horses to jockey, I think one can make the assumption that the hurdles were too great an obstacle for them, and only a very few did they manage to overcome. By the same token (i AM beginning to sound like Richard Dawkins!) if one assumes that Celebrity Big Brother is a flatrace, then is it not possible that Hale & Pale would cope admirably and excel in the role as new presenters of CBB?, given that they might now be handed the reigns of more competent horses.
Ah what a load of old bollo**s! Just hire them. They'll be ace! I promise.

Dolores 24-01-2006, 09:44 PM much as I love Davina ... for I do! ... I'm dreading her interview with George tomorrow night WHEN he is evicted. She wont be able to deal with him in the manner which he deserves.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Jeremy Paxman is the only person who could interview George with any style and panache. ... can't see Jel doing BB though ... although it would be a scream if he did!

Paxman v Galloway, dear god it would be like Ali versus Frazier only with more blood !!!
Davina will make more of a hash with Rodman's interview in my opinion, as he will be mono-syllabic. She wont be able to shut Galloway up.
I wonder if GG is planning to use the Davina interview to try to get a couple of political points over!
bustywench 25-01-2006, 05:55 PM I wonder if GG is planning to use the Davina interview to try to get a couple of political points over!
I'm hoping that the producers have planned tonight with GG's windbaggery in mind, and keep his chat time to a strict minimum, allowing a carefully crafted montage of his house antics to do most of the talking instead. =)
As for Davina... she's the likeable sort. I think she does a good job on BB... she's got a really infectious enthusiasm for the whole thing. I wouldn't recommend her workout dvds, though. She can be easy enough to watch on a light entertainment show, but her repertoire of exaggerated facial expressions and iffy jokes gets rrrreally grating when you're sweating it out for over an hour trying to exercise.
Fee For All 25-01-2006, 08:50 PM What's a furr-or?
Pandora 25-01-2006, 09:12 PM What's a furr-or? I was expecting him to correct her !!
For once, the irritating Davina was a relatively gurn-free zone when interviewing Georgie.
Wait until 11pm though, if its Rodman thats out, god help us. She will be awful as he isnt the most eloquent of people. Expect about ten thousand errrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmmmms, lame jokes galore, gurning to the crowd and forced "Im mad, me" behaviour from her as she struggles with him......

I've never met Norman Pace, but Gareth Hale is not only plump, but also has an over-plumped ego and a sense of self importance hugely disproportionate to his current "celebrity" status.
Bit like Davina, without the "plump".

Hale is the beardy unfunny one, right? Whereas Pace was the unfunny non-beardy with the pop eyes?
Personally I couldnt think of two people more unsuited to hosting a programme than them, apart from Jordan and Peter or Little and Large. :glare:

...and don't we know.....not nice.
I thought she did very well tonight, it was a hard call - he came out thinking he would be remembered for him winning £140....who can remember that.
He really is a very self obsessed man. I hope he gets his own series now.
ooh a reality show...George on George...following him around, listening to his rantings daily, marvelous I'd watch it; throw in Richard Bacon and Keith Chegwin and I will have to take time off work.

Sid and Nancy?
Pandora 25-01-2006, 09:30 PM Sid and Nancy?
Dig em up I say !!!! At least they couldnt gurn anymore than Davina already does....
Bonsai 26-01-2006, 10:32 AM I thought Davina's interview with George was good. She asked all the questions that needed to be asked, and pulled a face when he tried to duck the questions.
It was OK.
Patsy 26-01-2006, 11:22 AM I thought so too, Bons. How could she stroke his tash, though? Yukkkk!!
How about The Krankies?
Woodstock 26-01-2006, 11:40 AM She was outrageously awful during last nights interviews. She did okay with Galloway (i s'pose) but then plummeted to new depths of incompetence while putting (trying to) Rodders on the spot...
"he's been deprived of sex for weeks and in just four minutes we'll be finding out "how hard" it was..."
~
Davina: "Dennis...do you give a rat's ass that you've been evicted?"
(ohhh, i wonder what the answer to that will be - nice poser Davs...)
~
Davina: "you speak in a way that English people might interpret as rude but actually in America it's normal..."
(er, no...in America it's classed as rudeness also)
~
Davina: "you know what?.......it's such great.....such great.....watching..."
~
Davina: "before you go, one question.....what's Madonna like in bed?"
(ohhh fab...here come the details...)
Davina: "was she good?...she's got great boobs..."
NORMAN??...........GARETH??.......YOU READY YET CHAPS??
Woodstock 26-01-2006, 11:43 AM I thought so too, Bons. How could she stroke his tash, though? Yukkkk!!
How about The Krankies?
The Krankies...yeah, perhaps. How about The Krankies AND Hale & Pace...
Just off to crush a grape and jump off a doll's house...
Bonsai 26-01-2006, 12:04 PM Just off to crush a grape and jump off a doll's house...
That was Ed Stewart wasnt it from Crackerjack - not The Krankies.
Woodstock 26-01-2006, 12:28 PM That was Ed Stewart wasnt it from Crackerjack - not The Krankies.
It was a long time ago and yes you're probably right.
....though i could have sworn the Krankies got their "big break" on that show.....
anyway, regardless....i actually seriously did go off to crush a grape and.....i jumped off a doll's house. That's what i stated i was going to do and that's what i did....
