England - winners
Scotland - runners up
Ireland - next
Wales

eh, I would like a slightly different outcome Coastie!! :w00t:

mind you, we were lucky bunnies on saturday - I think the ref still had his beer goggles on from the night before and felt full of love for us irish - some of the decisions [i.e. BOTH tries] looked fairly ropey to me. Even Brian O'Driscoll looked a bit embarassed, and he'll usually take any points going without a backward glance....

Still, the final score is what remains important, even if it felt a teeny bit hollow as a victory.

And now, Bella et all me dear scottish pals, wtf have you done humiliating the french like that:angry: ... Their tales will be SO up for next saturdays match against us on their home turf that they will anialiate us:ohmy: .....

It is always tough playing France at home but Scotland have done it before, albiet many years ago so I will wishing the luck of your Irish on your comrades TE for them to pull it off on Saturday!

We have the Welsh on Sunday at The Millennium Stadium and I just hope that they can play the same way as they did against the English and that Scotland can get their line-outs sorted out, and that may just seal another victory for us!

The referee at the Scotland game was a bit too good to the French as one of the penalties that Scotland won should have definitely been a penatly/try!

I was down at the local shopping centre this morning and there were a few rugby fans looking a bit worse for wear in Starbucks! One of them asked if Britannic was any good! He meant Britannia, of course!

How exciting was the France/Ireland game? Obviously I wanted the french to win making it one win and one loss each (better for England), but not by too bigger margin, so what a great comeback for Ireland. Let's hope it's a big win for England.

Just realised I'll be at the meet for the Calcutta Cup. Can't remember there being a telly in the pub. Still never mind.

Max, the Calcutta Cup took place at the very first SO London Meet, England won that time. I obviously hope that the result will be different this year! :w00t:

I felt sorry for the Irish as their comeback was amazing, just a little too late. Though they should never have let the French get 3 runaway tries.

Well, England are hot favourites to win the Grand Slam now although Italy gave them a good run for their money. The Italians have certainly improved since they joined the Six Nations and they are no longer the team that everyone is sure to secure a victory against. They played really well but were outclassed by England.

Watched this yesterday and must confess to having my heart in my mouth during the first half, but class and experience shone through in the second. As soon as Matt Dawson came on, giving the quick ball, things turned around.

Does anyone know who got Man of the Match? It would be Ben Cohen for me every time, nothing to do with the rugby.

Yes, but it was the French that we beat and that's important! And we weren't disgraced by the Welsh like we were last year. We done well considering we only had 14 men and Scott Murray was probably the worst player to lose, he was after all the Man of The Match last week. Silly mistake but boy, did he pay for it? Does that mean he won't be playing the next game then?

I hear England played pretty poorly. Obviously the Scots' fans tactics of intimidation worked. Thought our boys would show more grit than that. Still, may not have the grand slam in their sights anymore but the tournament's still in their grasp.

I thought booing the opposing team's anthem was more the football fans' style. It just ain't rugby is it?

Good luck to the irish today!!

Yes, I must apologise for that - it was a bit of an exciting day. I had met my friend for lunch, we were supposed to meet next week as we were supposed to be having friends round for a take-away, a few beers and watch the rugby but unfortunately one of them is being treated for cancer, and had gone through chemotherapy on Wednesday. As a result we had to cancel them coming round, so I rearranged my meeting with my friend to meet for lunch and I had to end up drinking her share of the wine as she gave me the news that after 2 and half years of trying she is having a baby in the summer! I guess that coupled with Scotland winning I got a bit carried away!

I don't really know who to go for between Ireland and Scotland, but as Ireland are probably favourite to win, I'll go for Scotland (sorry TE, Urk, Aon). Nah, who am I kidding? They haven't got a hope! :bag:

Whoever wins, it will be nice to watch it as an impartial.

Hope we whoop the French, though, and the Welsh trounce the Italians. :good:

heading off down't pub for lunch and rugger - good luck everyone.

bella - the pundits are saying if there's rain that scotland will have the upper hand, as a wet game is no good for our style [running ball] and that if it's reduced to a kicking game that yous are the favs.

get out there and do a rain dance!!

[btw I won;t talk to you if you win......

Went to pub...ate to many nachos, potato skins and too much sticky toffee pudding which didn't mix well with the fruity, non-alcohilic, beverages and after much excitment at the rugger I was sick outside the pub  Thank-fully it was only a tiny wee bit but my lodger was with me and some other people walked by moments later

Cracking couple of matches though..although that 1st Italian try was soooo not a try...even if the scorer was cute!

Oh and ladies...this is a link to a site called : Rugby for the Girls http://www.rftguk.co.uk/

Basically it was started by a woman who only had a passing interest in rugby before 2003...she is not sure itf it was Englands success of that year or the introduction of the tight fitting shirts...anyway...enjoy the site all you girlies who love rugger! :naughty:

Wasn't it just, dead boring! I have seen schoolboys play with more enthusiasm!

Well Done to Ireland though, they are still in with a chance. Today's game should hopefully be better!

Well, it was that! What happened to the England boys, they never had a look in at all?

Technically though England, Ireland, France and Scotland could still win the Championship but I think it is really going to be between Ireland & France, and I hoping the boys in green will pull it off!

Never saw the Wales/Italy game but from the score, looked as if it may have been a good game.

France could have walked it if they hadn't let the Irish back in.....That may well be the deciding event of the tournament...France letting the Irish come back at them

Wayhay - Scotland beat Italy (just!!)

Bella
18-03-2006, 03:23 PM
They did! At least no wooden spoon for us this year! Have to say though, I do feel sorry for the Italians as they have played some cracking rugby, them being bottom of the table doesn't really reflect the way they have played. Give them a few years and I reckon they will be vying for the championship.

Scotland made loads of mistakes, I mean how many forward passed did they manage to play? That's the first rule you learn about rugby!! They were lucky to win! Couldn't understand why Craig Paterson didn't kick for a penalty when they were in the Italy half though.

Ireland could really pull it out of the hat if France get beaten by Wales, as they will be looking to will that Championship and having that in their sights could really give them the edge against England.

I won't be able to see the game as we are out tonigt at ma-in-law 70th.......wonder if the hotel will let us watch the game.............do you think ma-in-law would mind?!

No bets Bella...mind you I'm thinking that next time I take my meal break in time to watch England play I might well put a bet on them losing...since they always do on such occasions :wallbash:

Well done Scotland though...what a come back for them eh!

Just gutted now that Ireland didn't completely whoop England and beat the French to the title! :evilmad:

St Patrick must have been shining down on youse over the weekend, TE! Well Doneto the Irish! It was just a pity that Wales couldn't hold onto their lead to edge the French out!

This has been the best Six Nations in a long time, as no one team dominated and it was right down to the last games to see who won!

The French may have won but...................Scotland beat them to deny them the Grand Slam!!
