View Full Version : Winter Olympics
Haydon 10-02-2006, 05:49 PM A spectacular show, beginning at 1900 GMT on BBC2, will herald the start of 16 days of competition.
Good luck to all our competitors! Apparently us Brits have got a chance of winning some medals. Especially in the curling again. That's the one with the frenzied housework/ice sweeping routine. :)
Will you be following and cheering them on or does cold sports stuff turn you right off?
Fee For All 10-02-2006, 06:21 PM It just hasn't been the same since Phillippe retired.

I love the Winter Olympics and I am always glued to the tv whilst it is on. I love it all but especially the ice dancing, figure skating, bobsleigh and skiing....
Fee For All 10-02-2006, 06:46 PM We're only up to 'E' I haven't heard of half of these countries. It was a lot easier when it was just USSR.

I think you are secretly in love with Phillippe, Fee!
Here's hoping Great Britain do well - why are we Great Britain in these competitions and not United Kingdom? Or is this is a silly question?
At least with it being in Turin, the schedules will be in our time and not ridiculous hours in the morning - who stayed up to watch our Curling team last year?
Fee For All 10-02-2006, 08:13 PM I wouldn' exactly call it love Bella...:naughty:
gOD i LOVE THE wINTER oLYMPICS - oops Caps!!
I have been watching Ski Sunday for the last 6 weeks or so in bed on a Sunday morning. And bloody phwoarrrr Bode Miller [the American] - just the name turns me to jelly.
I adore the downhill, booger the slalom - that is for cissy's - give me the straight hard, speed motivated downhill anyday.:naughty:
Oh yes H - the openeing ceremony was fun - I watched most of it - and was severly titivated that some countries had only one competitor - marvellous and I hope they win a medal - what kudos for them!!:smartie:
Google has a special logo in honour of the games!!!

Yes I noticed that
Seabreeze 11-02-2006, 10:01 AM The opening ceremony was fantastic and the way the torch was lit was awesome. I usually watch bits of it if theres nothing else on or I know we could be inline for a medal.
I never watch opening ceremonies - why don't they just save money and start!!
Having said that - the Winter Olympics just don't grab me the same way that the real ones do - so I probably won't be watching much.

Yes...I got her muddled with the skier who I thought was from Hampshire but is in fact from Surrey...I am now going to slam my head in the door several times...please do not try and stop me it is a necessary learning tool...:wallbash:
Mind you...the skier did well to didn't she...!
And John and Sinead Kerr our ice dancers...
What happened to the ladies curlking team though...mind you that Rhona is a bit of a miserable old bag :bag: I guess we're relying on the guys this time around...
I have to say....thank-you to the Scots for providing such a wealth of Winter Olympic talent! I mean there are a few English and Welsh lad in the 2 man bob but you Scots really do prop up the British team and give us all something to cheer about....maybe it's because you are the only country in the UK that really gets any snow...but then you don't need snow for curling and ice dancing..:shocking:
JakeyBoy 21-02-2006, 07:58 AM I'm not even watching this, don't even know which channel it's on...
