View Full Version : 1st March show
Dolores 01-03-2006, 09:31 PM So Nargis has gorn!
To be honest I'm not surprised. Her sales pitch was cringeworthy!!
I'm glad that the numbers are even again, six boys and six girls.
I'm starting to warm to a few of them, Ansell, Yuen from the boys and Karen from the girls team.
Still lovin' the work of Jo and Sayid!!! :boxing:
Her pitch really was awful wasn't it! I hope to god that that was edited against her cos if it wasn't she hasn't a hope in hell in getting a job now!
I warmed to Jo a little. She was dead right to say that the calender idea was pants, but she did go overboard. If she can calm down A LOT, i would say she had a wise, streetwise head on her shoulders!
(Or am I completely wrong?) :ninja:
Dolores 01-03-2006, 09:58 PM our Jo is a crier isn't she!!!
I like people to be passionate about things but when that passion spills over into intense emotion and leads to tears before bedtime on a regular basis you have to ask ... is that person mentally stable?
I didn't like the way she came out of the boardroom and punched the air with glee that she was still in, I thought it showed complete insenstivity towards Nargis, who was actually quite endearing in a "fawlty towers" kind of way!!!
Apparently Jo is the team leader next week ... should be good, lots of tears, lots of "they don't like me" and lots of inappropriate glee and showing off. I'm quite ataken back by her manner with Sir Alan!! I'm sure Margaret and Nick are too!
I hope Sayid leads the boys!

I would agree with both of these comments!
She doesn't appear to be stable, but then if things start going her way, and she becomes more comfortable, may we see a different side to her?
She just needs to be more aware of how she comes across I think!
I don't know why I'm defending her so much, I think shes loopy!!! :fireman:
mazwad 01-03-2006, 10:08 PM Jo really is a bit of a nutter, not sure she can calm herself down. She seems far too over emotional for someone who wants to work for SA. Karen was very astute and figured out the way SA would go so threw herself in alongside Jo that may well come back to haunt her.
As to the boys the crying asian one, not sure of his name, didn't do himself any favours this week. The others butted in on him because they were running out of time, in business deadlines are vital.
I had no idea there were so many cats in London hopefully we will never see the return of the great plague then unless they are all too well fed.
Ghost 01-03-2006, 10:32 PM our Jo is a crier isn't she!!!

I watched the BBC3 program where Nargis was interviewed and apparently when they left the boardroom Jo threw her arms around Nargis and said 'I didn't want you to leave' but it wasn't shown on TV.
I'm warming to Jo as well but she is so gone next week. It has to be her Alan Sugar says to 'Are completely nuts?' as shown in the clip from next weeks program.

I took that with a pinch of salt, ghost! I'm sure Nargis made it up just to make herself look good and Karen look bad!
.... and quite frankly if Jo was in my corner I'd be worried what I'd done to attract such a nutter!
Seabreeze 02-03-2006, 06:57 AM I liked the way the girls thought they had won becasue no one had bought any of the boys calendars then all of a sudden the tables turned. Glad Nargis has gone but Jo really does my head in.

I'm not warming to her at all, but I agree with the last bit, Ghost. She's good entertainment if only to see how long it will take before she completely cracks up.
I'm liking Ansell a lot and also the plump guy with the white teeth. He's quite cutting and sarcastic and I like that. Yes I do.
Nargis's presentations, as shown, were rubbish and, as a pharmacist, I think she should have had the sense to hand them over to someone with a bit more experience.
MariaRob 02-03-2006, 11:17 AM as a pharmacist, I think she should have had the sense to hand them over to someone with a bit more experience.
She seemed to insist that she did it tho. Her presentation was total pants and funny to watch. She was rude and utterly charmless and I am surprised they shifted any calendars at all. No-one took on board that the dates were far too small and the whole point of a calendar is to write reminders on. She was totally arrogant and really deserved to be fired and blimey she could have combed her hair before she went into the Boardroom! As for Jo, she is far too emotional and hyper. Good telly tho, thought it was hilarious they way she was sobbing in the kitchen because they put kittens on the calendar, ye gods what will she do when something really bad happens to her!???
maxine 03-03-2006, 07:11 AM What I couldn't understand is that between each pitch you'd think the others might give Nargis a few tips but it was painfully apparent that they hadn't as she gave each pitch in the same manner. I couldn't believe it when she said 'I haven't finished yet'. She deserved to go. I'm not sure why she had karen in there as I couldn't see shed' done anything to get fired.
Who'd want to be project manager though?
I thought Sayed came out slightly better this week especially when he remained calm while a couple of the others were aggressive towards him. Always a good ploy in my book.
IsLe Of WeAtHeR 03-03-2006, 12:37 PM What was very clear and will be as the weeks move on is the old adage "identifying problems is easy, fixing them is not"
Notice how many of them find it "easy" to see what is wrong at various stages (the rogue men group) but are less than vociferous when solutions are sought.
One of this weeks problems was that in order to show the client the calendar you did not need a "presentation" . Just show them it and explain the benefits. Around 99.9 % of business presentations are a hopeless waste of everyone’s time and i bet if you try, you could barely recall a good one you have ever participated in or sat through. What was shocking was not the actual presentations but the fact that they all thought this situation needed one?
Tigereye 03-03-2006, 04:02 PM true. and what foxed me is that all through the palava of ' the presentation' they hadn't come up with a price? WTF?!!
on the bbc3 show it was obviouse Nargis hadn't learned a thing from seeing the show - scarey.
survivorfan 03-03-2006, 04:29 PM The bloke doing the men's pitch was awful too, despite his own self-trumpeting.
What was that opening line - "Sorry if I get emotional ..."
Purleeease!!
mikado 03-03-2006, 04:41 PM I don't think that Mani guy will last the course - the one that got all irate when anyone questioned him. Especially since he failed to do the repricing research properly, and his presentation skills looked nothing to write home about.
(By the way IOW I've the opposite view to you. If there are lots of poor presentations then it's a sign that lots of people need to improve their presentation skills, not that presentations should just be scrapped full stop).
Tuen seemed a decent, conscientious sort but far too precious to survive. The man who came over best IMO was the big black guy.
Jo was a bit more of a sympathetic character this week - great tv in fact - but she hasn't a hope in hell of winning :)
And Nargis took on that presentation role when two other people wanted it?? She was mad and deluded.

People have been presenting for 50 years, thats enough practice. As a means of imparting persuasive information, they suck.
Coastie 04-03-2006, 07:34 PM Finally got around to watching this today...excellent!
My goodness what is that Jo woman on...even if I did agree with much of what she was saying she was making me want to throw stuff at the screen to shut her up!
Nargis was a useless saleswoman...What was she thinking...telling the potential buyers they could ask questions, leaving big pauses between her bits of the 'presentation' and then snapping them quiet as they saw the pauses as an oportunity in which to ask their questions...glad she has gone!
The lads did pretty well but that Sayed has got to be punched at some stage.
On the general topic they were given...
When the girls chose kittens I imediately thought hmm...they could make that work by using soft lighting and having the kittens play with kids toys...I had images of fluffy puds playing with the old roll ball that you drop shapes into or them snuggled with a brightly coloured soft toy or fisher price fire engine or something so you'd have the lovely soft colours of the kittens and a plain very light soft grey background and bright yet matt finished toys. Cute cats with kids toys bringing the Ormond street connection...the ladies final product was crud!
The guys could have made more about st. Ormond street giving kids the chance to fullfill their potential and the public being able to become part of this...their idea was solid and yes it could have been slightly less paint shop but at the end of the day at least their calendar was workable and relevant! However the guy who did the pitch made me feel quesy...what a drip of desperation he came across as!
Finally got round to watching this last night. I am glad Nargis has gone, I still cannot stand Jo, but it's one of those I hate to watch her, but she is sort of compulsive viewing things..
As for the boys, I like the big black guy, can't remember his name, and Syed is antoher car crash tv type spectacular...
I didn't watch the first series of this, but thanks to Dol I am hooked on this one:applause:
Seabreeze 12-03-2006, 07:33 AM Just a little news item on Nargis

d'oh! :wallbash:
how can you forget to renew house insurance! she should have done it on a direct debit, no need to worry about it then. The main thing is she was safe and so was her child ... and even more I'm sure Sir Alan made the right choice.
poor lady, I do feel sorry for her.
