I found this on B3TA and it made me think that the demographics of this place may produce some interesting thoughts/results
Jakob Nielsen always promotes the use of simplistic and short content on web pages, but of late I have been pestered to include huge blocks of pap text.
I complain against this and have just been told that "Bullet points are a male thing. Women prefer long blocks of unbroken text."
Now I don't believe this, but, after the BBC article about women and men differing wildly on their thoughts on designs, I think this sort of thing is worthy of more consideration.
Search aside, does anyone know anything or have any decent links which suggest either that this is true, or (more pleasingly) that it is a bag of horse ****?
Mo - I think I can guess your pitch on this!

Have to say it depends on the topic for me Slips...
If it something that only needs bullet points to make it clear so be it. If however it requires more detail then type on.
That said, I find it hard to put across most of my views in bullet point form but at the same time don't really like reading huge chunks of text even though I do post this way alot.

I prefer bullet points. I hate large chunks of text as i have trouble reading it. I think Bourneobabe (is that how you spell it) types using long paragraphs on here, and i give up half way down.
I much prefer concise sentences and bullets.

Hello Slipper,
How perceptive of you. It is as you say horsepoop.
I am guilty of;-
a) short sentences,
b) long sentences,
c) a few non sentences by that, I mean incorrect syntax,
d) some superflous adjectives,
e) too much attention to detail,
f) posts that are too long 50% of the time now,
this is an improvement, I believe it was closer to 90% several weeks ago,
g) short paragraphs,
h) long paragraphs,
i) some spelling mistakes,
j) some grammatical mistakes,
k) the exercise of creative punctuation,
l) you name it..........I am probably guilty of it.
M) I am a woman and I am human.
n) also guilty of thinking that both men and women are equally complex.
o) guilty of having the confidence and self belief that I am not inferior to men.
p) in many ways women can be superior to men. It is all a question of mindset.
Has anyone taken a look at Blinks thread.
A note on point e, there is research somewhere which indicates that when a woman opts to do a mans job, not only does she do the job to 95% of her ability - she knows the job to a 110%. A man however, may or may not know the job to 95% of his ability and gives less, to get the same result.
Does this mean as women we try harder to please, and we make more effort to get details correct, when we should maybe sit back a bit and relax?
