do you ever let your worst fears run away with you?

the other day I noticed a massive crack in my internal wall surrounding my bay window. straight away I though subsidence, the house sinking into the ground piece by piece. i went to bed worrying that my house was going to fall down.

then my dad came round and said it was just the plaster on the wall cracking away from the wall!!

sometimes we need others to point out the "unworse" case scenario!

I never keep things in perspective. I am a born worrier.

I worry about pipes leaking at my house, and that i will have to foot the bill. I worry about my car breaking down. I worry about the fact we havent had the boiler serviced and now it will probably break. I worry about the fact our water softener is b*ggered. I worry that i will get a wrinkle. I worry about how im going to pay the water bill that landed on my doormat yesterday and i now have to find £135.

Im a worrier.

Unfortunately there is noone around to offer perspective. Mr.B just rolls his eyes to the heavens.

I agree with that, I've found that often it's what you think that's the problem, not the thing itself.

Generally I don't get worried about stuff...when it comes to building stuff I have a dad and a brother who know the trade and have grown up learning alot about such things. In light of this I can usually tell straight away if it's something serious or not.

I was a little concerned about my boiler recently as it was leaking water but again I was able to get hold of someone I knew fairly early on who was able to assure me the entire boiler wouldn't fail as long as I kept doing what I did and it could wait a few days to avoid emergency call out and the inconvienience of trying to get hold of an engineer at weekends!

The last time I lost sleep over something was about a year or so ago when I found a lump...I was obviously concerned and unable to get an opointment to see the doctor until the following day....fortunately it turned out to be a boil...but oh the fears that shot through my mind for 24hrs without knowing!

I'm very neurotic. I worry the worst of most things and then they are never as bad. I take my medication regularly but I still can worry myself silly!!

yes sometimes I let things that I'm worried about get the better of me worry wise - to the point of desperation sometimes - but you know, coming on here helps.
