View Full Version : Whats everyone doing today?
Just today, I'm not interested in tomorrow or what happened yesterday (unless its relative)...lets share our Sunday together.
I should be doing my college homework now but my brain is in such a pickle after this weeks trauma's and its not all over yet, I can't concentrate. So I am giving myself the a couple of hours off to chat with my cyber buddies and chill.
Then I shall be doing some ironing whilst watching Shipwrecked before going to visit mum at the home with Freddie and my sister Julie.
Dad is coming for dinner later which I am going to do a fantastic lamb roast with all the trimmings, hopefully brother Rick is coming too - freshly back from Thailand this week, looks as though he could do with something non liquid in his tum.
So in all its not a bad day and its lovely seeing both my parents.
Come on...lets all share our day.
Post a picture too if you like.
Seabreeze 12-03-2006, 09:25 AM Mr. Breeze and myself will not be stepping over the doorway due to blizzard conditions. Therefore the day will probably be spent on the computers and catching up with things we have recorded. We have also decided to try and make something different to eat out of all the odd and sods we have left in the fridge.
Bonsai 12-03-2006, 09:25 AM I have only just got up as i had a heavy night last night. Im sitting here desperately trying to wake up ... and knowing that i need to walk the dog, but the thought of prising my ar*se out of this chair isnt a good one.
I will then complete a massive pile of ironing, clean out the rabbit, birds and cats litter tray. Oh and i have the bathroom to clean too.
I will the cook dinner - although i use the word 'cook' loosely. I spotted a couple of those Birds Eye Beef in Gravy thingies in the freezer. Gawd knows how long they have been there. So i will do some mash, peas, gravy and yorkshire pudding with them.
This evening i will be here all alone as Mr.B is off to play cards.
Patsy 12-03-2006, 09:28 AM Today I shall mostly be listening to my 10 year old moaning.
Today I shall mostly be listening to my 10 year old moaning.
Do you just sit there innert whilst listening Pat or do you get on with other things?
Patsy 12-03-2006, 09:34 AM Do you just sit there innert whilst listening Pat or do you get on with other things?
I get on with other things, obviously. Today I shall get on with feeling sorry for myself. Quietly, of course.
mazwad 12-03-2006, 09:34 AM I too shall be doing a lamb roast and have a guest called Rick only its my son.
Also attending my fabulous meal will be DIL, three grandchildren, BIL and SIL.
So nine to cook for and one is a veggie so I shall go and prepare a cheese and onion quiche for her.
They have left me on my own here as they are over doing a bit of decorating at MIL's house, we think we may have to sell it as we don't think she will be able to return home. I have some delightful washing to do as MIL now has Clostridium Difficile and the hospital bag the washing for me to do. When SIL picked it up yesterday they warned her to be vey careful with it and make sure it is washed on very hot wash to kill off the spores.
I was a bit taken aback but left it outside last night and will attack it in a mo when I find my rubber gloves. I did think it would be done at the hospital it there was a risk of carrying germs.
I shall have to stir myself and get started.
I too shall be doing a lamb roast and have a guest called Rick
Our day has a similar tune to it dosn't it Maz, apart from the fungal infection.
Patsy 12-03-2006, 09:46 AM I shall have to stir myself and get started.
Stir the gravy with your other hand, just in case Maz.

Blimey Pats, I'm glad I'm not going to Mazzers today arnt you. Here cat would you like some spores with your spuds...yewweeeeeek
mazwad 12-03-2006, 09:59 AM Well it makes a change from sprouts and a lovely after dinner conversation don't you think.
Well it makes a change from sprouts and a lovely after dinner conversation don't you think.
Yes I suppose it does. Actually I think they might be served up best with the coffee and liqueurs bit like coconut macaroons. Sprinkle a touch of frosted icing on them.
Today I am going to try get the ironng done. Last time I did any was over a month ago when the ironing board collapsed.
last weekend I super glued the broken leg back on but the minute I turned it upright it collapsed again and nearly took my finger off.
Yesterday I put heaps off brown stick tape on and this monring it is still standing, so I shall do that while shipwrecked is on if I can be bothered to get washed and dressed first.
Yesterday I made loads of food for the frezer and I couldn't be bothered to wash up so I have to do that too.
If I manage to stay awake beyond 3pm I am going to walk up the coast along the beach
I will pay anyone to cook me a sunday roast and bring it round
mazwad 12-03-2006, 10:30 AM With or without spores Bob or that may not actually be optional. I have googled and found out they can live in the environment for 70 days.
Washing is on and have now stripped off bio suit and mask and had very hot shower.
White or pink frosting Cat?
I get on with other things, obviously. Today I shall get on with feeling sorry for myself. Quietly, of course.
You? Do something quietly? Could you video it and post a link?
My day has consisted of cooking a ham, cleaning two of the three bedrooms, and the hell hole under the stairs, I shall then be cooking a roast pork dinner for when Mr B gets home from work. I have a pileof ironing to fit in at some time and thenI shall collapse with wine and 24!
Dolores 12-03-2006, 10:37 AM my mum and dad are coming round to dinner ... as soon as i opened my mouth and invited them I was instantly regretting it. All that hassle, getting washed, getting dressed, cooking, tidying round etc etc ... I may even have to push my hair into some kind of presentable style ... it's too much hard work. i shall turn the heating right down and freeze them out so they don't stay too long!
Critique 12-03-2006, 10:48 AM Don't ask me why but I decided to drag myself out to the bootsale this morning. I'm so fed up with being indoors that I threw caution to the wind and decided to get some fresh air. So intent was I in getting ready to go and not hold up Mr C that it wasn't til I stepped outside that I saw the flurry of snowflakes :cold:
Still I made it round the booty, marvelling at the dedication of the stall-holders that were just standing there and had probably been there since 7 am. I spent 50p on a M&S denim blouse/jacket thingy which has a size 10 on the label but looks huge. Haven't had the nerve to try it on. OK .... hang on ... will go and do that.
Just as I thought - it fits and I can actually button it right up over the thick sweater I'm wearing, unlike the size 18 blouse I bought from New Look which doesn't even meet!!! Result  I'm glad I went with my instinct and didn't get put off by the label.
On the way back we stopped at the Tesco mini store and I went in for some Aunt Bessie's Roasties (lazy moo) and came out with 2 bags of things I didn't intend to buy. Some of it was rolls, drink and crisps for grandson's lunch tomorrow as I know his dad is skint and will be up here later asking if I have anything in the cupboard that he can have.
When we got back I waited while Mr C cleaned out the tumble dryer filter/condenser thingy and I set the tumble dryer going and then put some more washing in the machine while Mr C made a cup of tea and buttered some hot cross buns (and I only had 1 without the butter). Had to do washing today because the dark lot has grandson's school trousers and jumper in it and the white wash has his school shirt - so that's his uniform done ready for tomorrow.
Going to just slob out now until I cook pork chops, stuffing, roasties (for them) carrot, potato and swede mash for me (Tesco's of course), brocoli and peas for me, Mr C, son and grandson tonight.
Errmmmm - no cancel the slob out bit. Just remembered, son's got his 2 girls (9 and 7) on access today and I promised we would make cakes (groan). They'll be here soon.
Mr C is watching the Grand Prix and as he's got an ear infection and can't hear very well it's deafening me. I'll probably be glad to escape to the kitchen when the girls get here :)
I shall just sit here and enjoy the peace and quiet til they arrive.
So after I've cleared away the cake making stuff and done the dinner and cleared that away I shall be glad of a quiet evening doing nothing.
With or without spores Bob or that may not actually be optional. I have googled and found out they can live in the environment for 70 days.
Is that for me? If so what??
mazwad 12-03-2006, 11:13 AM Go back a few posts Bob about Cat not wanting to come to my house for dinner.
Bonsai 12-03-2006, 12:16 PM Mr.B at this very moment is shampooing my hallway carpet whilst i sit on here ..... what a wonderful man he is
.--- .- -.- . -. 12-03-2006, 12:17 PM Well today, it was really hot (we had a little cool change but it went hot again) so we went to my aunty's house to swim in her pool. She's currently in Queensland so we had to access to the house but outside was fine. And I managed to pick a lock on one of the doors :)
Go back a few posts Bob about Cat not wanting to come to my house for dinner.
Lol sorry very slow recently.
I hate spores
Some of the meat samples I have to analise at work are so old and disgusting I insist on wearing a mask and not just for the smell.
I notice that a lot of my colleagues don't wash their hands before going for a break. They all dip into the same biscuit tin too
I stopped taking my breaks with them a long time ago.
Bella 12-03-2006, 02:13 PM Slowly dying on the sofa..........was at a friend's 40th last night. The restaurant we had booked messed things up and after waiting nearly an hour on our table, we decided to cut our losses and find somewhere else. We ended up at a fabby wee Indian just round the corner from where my friend lives, which was a huge mistake as we all ended up back at her place and I didn't get home until 3.30 this morning! I have left the car round but can't be bothered going out to get it, so just dying on the sofa watching the rugby....13 - 0 to France at the moment! I really should be making dinner but the thought of food is just turning my stomach. We are out next weekend, I am going to drive!
Andrea 12-03-2006, 02:55 PM Well my Sunday started early, 1am when I was trying to get to sleep.
Couldn't sleep due to a very itchy back.
Got up and went into the bathroom to look at it, and the whole of my back was red with huge areas raised, burning and itchy.
Went downstairs trying to find the calomine lotion but couldn't.
Stayed downstairs, tossing and turning, not sleeping, watching Shipwrecked and then the news.
Was awake till about 5am, then tried to find the calomine lotion again, still no luck, and still itching like hell. Back now extrememly red and raised.
But found some anti-histamine tablets, so took one of them.
Managed to get to sleep on the couch, then at 6.30am, kids came down stairs!
Went upstairs to bed and slept till lunch time.
Back much better now, I think I've had an extreme allergic reaction to some fabric conditioner I tried the other day, (I never normally use it).
Just been to Morrisons to get a few bits and pieces.
Got to make tea later, fish, chips and mushy peas.
Then a pile of ironing to do whilst watching 24.
and hopefully my back won't come up in a rash again tonight.

That story about your ironing board Bob reminded me that mine was a wedding present in 1963!! That makes it 43 years old. I'm not sure whether that says a lot about the quality of the ironing board (it's a metal Beldray one) or about the fact that I don't do much ironing
It must have been a good one though because it saw plenty of action when I had the boys at home and I worked. All those shirts, Jeans, blouses, skirts, etc. Now it mostly only comes out in the Summer when it's all cotton stuff. In the Winter I just tumble dry everything and fold it while it's warm. :D
I went to Morrisons earlier on - mainly to get petrol.
Spent the afternoon putting up some clothes rails in the spare bedroom - sholud have been a simple job - but ended up taking ages.
Then I caught up on some work I had to do for school
Critique 12-03-2006, 06:57 PM Funny how things don't go the way you planned isn't it?
I dished up the dinner and my son was licking his lips and saying how nice it looked and how he hadn't eaten much today and then he said "don't bother pulling the big table out mum, I'll have mine on the coffee table". As he went to pull the coffee table closer to him it tipped and it was like watching in slow motion as the whole plateful hovered then up ended on the carpet :shocking:
I was more upset about my son not getting the dinner he'd looked forward to than the gravy soaked mess on my beige carpet. Luckily I had put Mr. C's on a plate, despite the fact that he won't be in til midnight and probably won't want it. I insisted that my son have it. He did protest but it was pointless keeping it on the chance that it might get eaten.
Anyway we mopped up the mess and I treated it with stain remover and then got the Vax out and I think when it's dry it won't notice (hopefully).
Now I feel drained and I've got the kitchen to clear up. It will have to wait til I feel like it. I'm having that chill out time I promised myself :)
Post mortem on my day.
The visit to mum went well, Freddie was a star and I really feel as though I have got to know her this week.
Dashed home and started dinner, Ricky arrived and could tell him all about the weeks events before dad did (Rick has been out of the country). Dad arrived and we discussed the weeks trauma's then settled down for dinner and had a good chat. For the first time (without mum being around and distracting dad all the time) we spoke about my sisters divorce (5 years ago) and how wrong we all were about it, he told me things I didn't know and vise versa..... then he had a heated debate with Mr Cat and Rick which was so lovely to watch (with mum around he can't do this). He went home tired and happy and hopefully all this horrible mess will be sorted out tomorrow. Rick is staying with him incase the phone calls get nasty again.
And....it wont' be another 6 months before I see him again...HURRAH!!!
Shall I have another glass of Baileys or not.

have a large glass of baileys Cat! it sounds like you are happy and content. Ok I know it's not always how we expect things to end up, but I think you are all, as a family, coping very well with it all. I'm glad your dad is near to you too, I bet he has to keep pinching himself to remind himself that he's only 20 mins away from you.
... and how is Ricky ... cos we know he has difficulty being in the right place at the right time, in the right country ... don't we!

ahhr bless you dolly daydreamface. I think I shall, just the one more...
There really is a different feel now, having looked after mum this week I feel I can speak on a one to one about her care - for example we discovered she liked dresses instead of trousers by accident, easier to go for a widdle in. Spoke to dad about this and he said he didn't know what to buy....well you don't have to because I will and bring them round to you being that you now only live down the road. Easy peasy now see. We looked at each and smiled.
We are also going to sue the arses off the to££ers who have stitched him up this week. Oh yes.
Rick has bought some Man City posters for his new room and mum and dads place, dad isn't pleased.
Patsy 12-03-2006, 09:03 PM His room. Does he still not realise he has left home?

Oh Andy Pandy - I so know that feeling, you just know that if you look again it will be there - and it never is!!!
And Mr F is doing the ironing whilst watching 24 - god I am so lucky.
Cat have a Baileys, and petal put an ice cube in it for a change, and then you can be all exotic and say you have had an arctic breeze cocktail.
My day was quite nice, sedate but nice, made some pastry cases and froze them, took fat Wooster to the hydrotherapy spa, went for a very late lunch with all the brother and sis in laws and kids - and made a snow man with the little ones.
Andrea 12-03-2006, 09:21 PM After a rubbish start to the day, Sunday has ended quite nice.
I now have a freezer full of fresh cod, compliments of hubby. (who incidently hasn't caught anything for months)

Note: my baccy tin is there cause hubby insisted that you need something to guage the size of the fish by?!?!

most excellent fish, Andrea.
Big wow :yahoo: to Mr A. Did he go deep sea fishing for those or was it off a pier? I'm mightily impressed ... hey i may even get the rod and bait box out this weekend!
Andrea 12-03-2006, 09:28 PM Just off the beach Dol.
There hasn't been any fish around for ages.
Seems like the cod have come in now.
So guess what................he's off again on Tuesday cause he's got some bait left!
Bella 13-03-2006, 08:16 AM Well done to Mr A, Andrea! I do love fish but it has to come completey gutted and filleted, ta very much!
I am just off to get on a bus to take me to my friend's house and pick up my car that I left there on Saturday night. She lives about 6 miles from me, and the snow is worse out there so I hoping that I don't have dig too much!
I'll probably pop into the nearby Tescos before I head home. Abbie finishes nursery at 12.45 so as long as I home for then, there is no worries.
Bonsai 13-03-2006, 08:24 AM Well done to Mr A, Andrea! I do love fish but it has to come completey gutted and filleted, ta very much!.
Im exactly the same as you Bella. I adore fish, but i couldnt 'prepare' it.
Im the same with rabbit, pheasant etc ... Someone else has to do the grotty job for me.
msgirl 13-03-2006, 01:43 PM I have housework and then work-work today...pulled muscle is about 50% better today. I was moaning and nearly screaming when I moved to my right all weekend. WILL NOT be picking up anyone today!!!!
Andrea 13-03-2006, 02:20 PM Today I have done my last shift on the ward I've been doing my placement on.
I have school tomorrow, then two weeks to finish off my assignments and hand them in.
Then I start doing what they call "consolidation period" on the dialysis unit.
Basically they want us to keep working until we get our registration through. More cheap labour if you ask me.
And I could have picked the kids up from school but they just love going to the childminder that I thought I couldn't deprive them, so I've had to make do with staying home on my own in a quiet house for a while.
Critique 13-03-2006, 02:27 PM I've been feeding and having cuddles with my baby grandson, Alfie - aaaah! Amazing what a difference a few weeks make. He's not all floppy and fragile now and I didn't feel all fingers and thumbs like I did when he was first born.
He's ummm 9 weeks now and smiling and making little noises. :)
Bonsai 13-03-2006, 03:48 PM That sounds lovely Crit.
Today has been ok. I have been busy and the day has whizzed by.
I got myself in a muddle with the accounts, and lost the will to live once or twice - but i dont think things are too bad now.
Everyone else has gone home, and im here all alone .... what mischief can i get up to ?
Seabreeze 13-03-2006, 04:09 PM My day has consisted of worrying about Mr. Breeze who has been in court the last 3 weeks (jury duty before anyone asks). He has found the last few days very stressful as all the jurors have been intimidated by the accussed family and friends. It got to the point where the court send them all home in taxis and were told to always take different routes. Today he has arrived home in one piece and we are now having a few drinks to destress him. For once he will be glad to get back to work.
I've been working! Just the usual sort of Monday - nothing exciting!
This wasn't meant to go on to the next day, I thought I made that clear in the off set.
So can you all desist posting now.
Unless you are referring to yestday, thats ok.
Or something that is continuing on from yesterday etc.
But new posts about monday with no connection what so ever about sunday are banned.

Haydon..HAYDON!!!
No you are all mad you see, you can't have a post about TODAY that stretches over months, even a life time...no thats far to Terry P. What you should be doing is setting up a new thread each morning, the first on sets up Today...14th March then you can post about that day. The next day you would set up for example. Today...15th March, or 15th March Today etc etc.
SEE SEE SEE!!!
Obviously Jakeyboy or dot dot dash as he is currently known and MS will have to join in what ever time zone suits them. I'm sure they won't feel patronised by this, I suggest they go by which date is on THEIR CALENDER. Maybe they could post current pictures that are on their calenders to help us understand about George Bush?

Calm down Cattykins - of course you can. Otherwise we'll have to have a new thread every day for "What's for dinner today?" and "Some Chattage Tonight" and it would all get out of hand and far too messy.
You opened this can of worms and you will just have to wriggle along - unless you've got a ruddy great padlock

I simply don't have time to go back to work.!

Fee For All 18-03-2006, 04:15 PM Today I've mopped up the outpourings of an incontinent dishwasher; kicked its sorry dead-motor ar$e, and gone out and bought a new one.
To be delivered early next week. When our road is closed for tree surgery :wallbash:
Quick rethink needed.
Today I went ito town first thing - went to Fopp and bought a heap of T Rex CDS. I then went to ASDA with my son - and a whole heap of recycling! We both did our shopping. Then I went and picked up a bit of our set for Orkney that needed fixing and fixed it. I've just made some lentil soup - and fed the cats.
What a full and exciting life I lead

I made some breakfast for my son and his friend then had a bath with my book, then got out got dressed and sat down with my book til lunchtime, made them a sandwich then got back into my book, at about 3pm I decided we needed some fresh air so we went for a walk down the beach ... it was bloody freezing!
have come back an hour ago and just browsed on the pc. will make shepherd's pie for tea in a minute!
Fee For All 18-03-2006, 04:36 PM I've made lentil soup today too Rob.
They didn't tell me this is what it would be like, way back when. :evilmad:
Today I was awakend at the ungodly hour of 6am, by the two youngest children piling into bed with me cos they both felt ill. Middle one made what we thought was a miraculous recovery in time to play football, got onto the pitch played for 10 mins and promptly came off because he was too ill to play (which I had tried to convince him of at 6.30am). Took him to the Drs and he has a viral infection very similar to his brother, so I have spent the rest of the day answering the pathetic cries of 'mummmm'.....

oooh sympathetic nurse Buzz to the rescue :glare: . you and TE should get together and write a book!!!
Quiet day today. Woke up 6.30ish and read book (Memoires of a Geisha) for an hour or so, decided to treat the boys to dippy egg and soldiers for breaky, the distribution of the consumation of eggs was thus:
Sam 4 eggs
Freddie 3 eggs
Ross 3 eggs
Me 3 eggs
Basil 2 eggs.
I have an innate gift for boiling eggs, I can't explain it.
Then I cut Freddies hair and gave him a bath.
Next on the exciting agenda was Tesco's - I was hoping to go and visit mum and dad, but they were going out. Came back from Tesco's and had lunch - Ross beans on toast and me chicken soup. Sam had already had his as he didn't come to Tesco's and Freddie had fallen asleep.
I then settled down to some college homework which I have stopped now, not finished stopped - there is a difference.
I am now going to start cooking Chicken Fajitas for tea.
Later I will be watching Beauty and Geek and ANTM as fell asleep before the end of both during the week.
Do you know sometimes I am so dull I could poke myself in the eye with a sharp object just to check I am still alive.
Dolores 18-03-2006, 06:24 PM what a lot of eggs consumed in the cat household this morning!
I'm glad that Basil got to get a couple ... does he like them hard boiled or soft boiled?
He dosn't give a flying toss Dollybird. He's a labrador, he will eat sh!t and often does. He also enjoyed some soldiers, but he didn't dip them he just wolfed them down in a doggy manner.
mazwad 18-03-2006, 07:58 PM Went into town this morning to buy an anniversary present for brother and sil, its their Ruby wedding tomorrow. Decided on some solar lights for their garden as they were going cheap in Robert Dyas. We took them round there on the way home only to find out the already had a load in the garden that my brother bought at the end of last year. Unobservant little me hadn't noticed them.
They said a few more would be nice but I think they were just being polite but at least we remembered. When Crit gets to this bit she will be thinking oh ****** unless SIL dropped any hints to her. I found it really difficult to find a card as they are always arguing and all the cards were gushy about being happy together, where are the ones saying ok well you have done well to stick it out this long may as well carry on for a bit longer.
Went on to visit son and dil, she coloured my hair for me and then the grandchildren asked to come home with us. They weren't on their best behaviour arguing and fighting, roll on the summer when we can chuck them outside. Fed them and Mr M took them home as I wanted to get on with making a bread pudding, it is now in the oven and my kitchen has a nice aroma of mixed spice.
Andrea 18-03-2006, 08:26 PM I've just been watching (sad that I am) kids stars in their eyes and the little kid that got in the final as a wild card won it.
Singing, George Formby, my little stick of Blackpool Rock!!!:shocking:
Then after the results are in he tells everyone that it's the George Formby appreciation week this week, so we know why he won then!
I think the young girl singing Chritina Aguilara should have won, she had a wonderful voice, but what do I know.
Patsy 18-03-2006, 09:18 PM Today I went into town to buy birthday cards and treat for youngest for good behaviour at school (he's costing us a fortune). Came back, made and ate lunch (yes I did both, don't faint). Took us all off to the rugby club to meet friends and watch rugby. I was on driving duty, so only had a couple of pints. Took youngest off to birthday party and missed most of the first half of the game, :evilmad: not happy about that. England lost, even less happy about that. Ferried very drunk friend with torn cruciat (sp?) ligament home, picked up chinese, ate same and am now here.
Tomorrow I shall mostly be doing nothing.

I'm taking said SIL at her word that she didn't want any presents :D Now I'm off to watch The Out of Towners - it's the Goldie Hawn/Steve Martin one (remake of the old Jack Lemon/Sandy Dennis version) if I can stay awake long enough cos I keep falling asleep.

Bonsai 19-03-2006, 10:20 AM Today has been busy so far.
I got up at 8:30am, had a cuppa then did the washing up, hoovered throughout the house, cleaned the bathroom, hoovered the walls and ceiling due to some cobwebs, dusted throughout, tidied as i went and i have just got some Mr.Muscle on the TV surround as it was smothered in sticky soot from the fire.
I am not having a break on here and wishing i could go to the pub lunchtime ... but that all depends on Mr.B.
It is HIS turn to walk the dog and he needs to do it before we go out to the pub. On a few occasions he has said 'lets go out and when we get back i will take him out'. Being a fool i say ok, and then when we get home he cant be bothered .... and so I end up taking him :evilmad:
The last time he did this to me i promised the dog that we would never go to the pub before he has his walk.
maxine 19-03-2006, 10:49 AM I'm off out to a posh restaurant for lunch. Taking the MIL out for mother's day before they hike their prices up next week! Moi, tight?
mazwad 19-03-2006, 11:53 AM Read for a bit this morning then did a bit of washing. Have just spent 2 hours sorting through MIL's paperwork that was stuffed into two large handbags. Condensed it down to a small pile as there were ten years worth of receipts to chuck. We don't think she will return home so there is lots of sorting out to do.
I had to do this when my mum went in to a nursing home and hated going through her things while she was still alive it doesn't feel right somehow and I get all choked up.
This afternoon I shall be going to the hospital to visit her and taking her a piece of bread pudding to see if it comes up to her standards. At least it will give me something to chat about as it gets difficult after a while because her responses are few and far between.
This evening we shall be visiting my brother and sil to toast their anniversary but won't stay long as Mr M becomes one of the employed again tomorrow and will need a clear head also it will be bloddy boring.
I hope Crit has been roped in to go too.
There always ill in your house Buzz is it your cooking ?
Actually, you know we are generally one of the healthiest bunch I know. My kids don't get sickness bugs or colds, but since January it has been one thing after another. These stupid bloody viruses that hang around and hang around, this is what all three of the 'poorlies' have got.
So in answer to your question you cheeky bleeder - no it's not my cooking!:glare:

I cooked all morning, had friends round for lunch and then took the dogs onto the moors. The big fat Wooster caught his very first rabbit, he was so proud of himself, I didn't have the heart to tell him it was already dead!!

Today should be an easier day for me after a relatively hectic but fun week at work. My boss is in Manchester for the next few days, so i can work at my own pace.
This evening im going out with a friend to a pub i havent tried yet ... so a mini adventure :kid:
Critique 23-03-2006, 09:06 AM On Thursdays I usually meet my SIL and we go for a mooch round the shops. I've had to cancel 3 weeks running because I felt so rotten.
Feel better to day but had a phone call from the SIL in Wales last night. They are going to a funeral in Reading on Friday. They're not sure if it's just the 2 of them going or if 2 other family members are going as well. If the others are going they will drive straight there and straight back again. If it's just the 2 of them they will "pop in" and see us on their way home :(
I've had to cancel outing with SIL yet again because if they do pop in I would be too ashamed to let them see how I've let this place go while I've been unwell  So I shall have to spend today hoovering the cobwebs off the hall and stairs, clearing out the spare room of grandson's junk (because I can't see them going home once they get here - they'll probably stay overnight at least and might even stay the weekend) and having a general clean up.
I also have this awful feeling that if the other 2 family members drop out, they might just decide to come today and stay over, so that they haven't got so far to travel tomorrow :(
So Mazza, if you see this, you might be seeing your Bruv and SIL this weekend (or you might not  )
It's not that I don't want to see them, it's just that a bit more notice would have been appreciated and I might work my proverbials off for nothing. Oh well, it's a good incentive to get off my big fat rear end and do some boring old housework.
Tigereye 23-03-2006, 10:23 AM ah crit - sure even if they don't come the place will look mega and you'll feel happier.

Well my efforts weren't wasted because they are coming. I'm so glad I did it all today otherwise I would be panicking now. They won't be here til late afternoon so I have plenty of time to do the last minute bits (done an online shop so we have plenty of food in). They'll probably stay the weekend so don't want to be running out of things.
At least I won't be shattered by the time they get here and will have time to tidy myself up too :)
Andrea 29-03-2006, 12:51 PM I've just been up to the school of nursing to hand in my assignments.
Well there's nothing more I can do now except wait.
They get marked internally then externally, then they have to go to the university exam board, which apparently doesn't meet now until June. Who on earth set this course up to miss the exam board just gone:wallbash:
Anyway, called into the renal unit at the main hospital, and I shall soon be earning money:yahoo:
I have to do 75 'consolidation' hours for my course, so I'm doing that on the unit and will start after Easter. Will be working full shifts, full time for 2 weeks. Arrgggh!
No more ladies wot lunch for me!
Then they are going to employ me as an auxilliary and wait for my exam results to come back and then my nursing registration to come through.
But starting the end of April I shall be working full time (even though as an auxilliary) then as a staff nurse!

My boss is out of the office all day - for the first time in weeks. Im sick of seeing the bloke. It nice to get on with the work you need to do without him breathing down my ear.
Tonight i have a Tesco delivery turning up. It wont come until 8pm ish so i might try and take the woofer for a walk before then (unless its raining).
I am waiting and waiting and waiting for a skip to turn up that they said would be here this morning! We are rapidly running out of 'this morning' and I am rapidly running out of patience. I mean how difficult is it?
I shall spend the rest of the day filling said skip with crap from the garage, shed and my bedroom.
I shall then probably collapse.
Tigereye 04-04-2006, 10:40 AM Boss is away - again - until next tuesday, so what I should be doing is the three month fiscal reports, VAT reports, projections for next three months and customer statements for March.
What I am doing is eating meusli, drinking tea, listening to the radio and am just about to do daily quiz......
Andrea 04-04-2006, 01:37 PM Been tidying up, yes shock horror, me tidying up.
Well in two weeks time I'm gonna be at work so I thought I better make the house look a bit decent before I start. Oh and brother is coming down for easter so I've got to somehow move all the crap that's been dumped in the back bedroom (and dump it somewhere else) so that they can have a bed to sleep in:w00t:
Did the lounge yesterday and dining room today.
Bella 04-04-2006, 04:44 PM We've spent the day at Stirling Castle and it was pretty impressive! We joined Historic Scotland at the weekend and were at Linlithgow Palace (birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots) at the weekend! I love historical stuff and it was quite thought-provoking to look over the walls of Stirling Castle and imagine the Battle Of Stirling and Bannockburn taking place.
We have got 18 months of membership, so we are going to be all castled, palaced and historied out very soon!
It was a glorious day as well and got fabulous views of Ben Lomond and the mountain-tops are still covered in snow!
Just waiting for my Tesco delivery so I can prepare birthday lunch for my parents & my sister with her kids who are coming tomorrow!
And going to watch Hustle tonight! :D

Critique 05-04-2006, 07:51 AM I shall be swigging Lemsip all day cos I've got another flipping sore throat and feel lousy.
The workmen are busy doing the pointing of the brickword outside so everything is covered in a thick layer of dust. I shall be making copious cups of tea for them.
I've been informed that we are due for a change of electricity meter so that's exciting. I'm probably just being suspicious but we didn't ask for a new one and it makes me wonder if they are going to "tweak" it so that we get less electricity for our money.
Have a good day everyone.

No, you are right Andrea - check out the Hustle thread on TV, you'll see what I mean!
My parents, my sister &her kids are coming for lunch. It was my mum's birthday at the weekend but today was the only day we could all get together. Me & the kids have made a chocolate cake (it is in the oven as I type) and they can't wait to get their teeth into it. We are going to decorate it with maltesers.
Going to prepare the veg and smash up the ritz biscuits for the kid's chicken nuggets.
It is a really nice day here today, so if mum is up to it hopefully we might manage a wee walk round the Botanics later.
Crit, I sympathise with your sore throat hope it gets better!

I then went to see my parents, which was wonderful.
I got home at 6:15pm, rubbed down some paintwork, whipped up a culinary masterpiece and now im here.

I've had a dull but busy day. Woke up with a start reminded of the 1000's of things I've got to do - in general.
7am came down and made cuppa and cleared up, took drink and exam paper back to bed to study, 9.20am kids wake up. Still in bed but working on practise exam paper instruct them on clothes for their trip to Holland tomorrow. 11am we all get dressed and take Freddie to Nursery then plough on into town to buy uniform for Sam and Ross. Back home pack suit case with piles of previously placed clothes - hoover bedroom, put 4th load of washing in and cook lunch. Fish finger sarnies - Ross came up with a poser during lunch - "why do vegetarians think its OK to eat fish"...I don't know why, does anyone? Whilst they are eating their lunch I cook tea - spag bol.
2pm - sort our drawers for children and self and discard clothes that can't sell or make use off, water plants (this takes up to half an hour I have loads), remove some plants that have an infestation that I have given up trying to beat (shame an 8ft umbrella plant) - put it in a corner in the garden to die a dignified death before it infests my other plants.
4pm - Do banking that has been stashed under desk for work - 4.45 take to bank - bank shut. Go and pick up Freddie from Nursery - see friend who's dad has just died and she is flying to the West Indies tomorrow (Bev Buzz). Had comforting chat with her.
Home - dusted around unawares with an Apricot and Jasmine airfreshner - thought it had a strong wiff, cleared some more debree from this room and rubbed down mould from walls in front room that huge plant had hidden.
Brother comes round and we chat about things whilst I grab the opportunity to give self a pedicure being that I am wearing sandals more and more in public now.
6.30pm - crack open beer and give up all hope.
Things I still have to do at home:
-no more hoover bags - buy some
- bulbs bought - plant them
- bulbs in lighting - replace them
- ironing do some
- touch up skirting in front room
- wash paintwork in front room
- sweep and tidy up garden
- trim back clematis URGENTLY it is budding and bent over
- mow lawn (or is it too early)
- look after mad mum for desperate dad
- get ****ed
Things I have to do for college:
- complete about 20 exam papers in the next 3 weeks (each takes about 3 hours)
Things I have to do for work in the next 2 weeks:
- plan the next 3 years budget on my own
All of this and be a wife and mother (OK forget the wife bit, just the mother...but there are 3 of them...3...one is only 3)
I am getting a little stressie can you tell.
Do I get an award for this being the dullest post from Dulldome?

DID YOU? This is the first time I have been infested like this (excluding sexual derivatives. but not plants..Oh no).
Do they just infect umbrella plants and how?
HOW I ASK YOU SMELLYCAT!
SmellyCat 12-04-2006, 06:55 PM Well I aint no Alan Titmarsh but I'm pretty sure they don't spread by sneezing or feathery contact. Mealys are slow, so your other plants will be safe, unless they have been sleeping a long slow sleep together.
But how did they get their in the first place - they are like flat tan/brown specs that make the plant over produce sap in defence aren't they.
I got this plant 4 years ago from a person who said it had got too big for them, it has been happy here until about 6 months ago. Do humans carry mealy worm - do you think it could have been done deliberately, should I call the police?
SmellyCat 12-04-2006, 07:15 PM Call the police .... call the police
sounds like rust/scale not mealy and you've just abandoned a plant to die .... somebody call the p o l i c e ... then again it could be Corky Scab - in which case you have to burn your house and all it's contents.
WHY is there not a forum for plant lovers? ... :wink2:

Look they are like little flecks of rust that the eye cant see move - but they do move oh yes. So what do I do then I have only just put the plant in the garden, come on don't mock HELP ME AND MY PLANT.

SmellyCat 12-04-2006, 07:38 PM Pee all over the plant. How tall did you say ? 8ft? forget the police and call the fire brigade.. call the fire brigade .. get a hoist over the plant and let it flow ... let it flow.

I don't do plants, by the by, but I will gladly pee on Cat's plant. Or anything else, actually.
So far today I have spent some time cleaning out a scenery store, getting caught in traffic, going to the tip and then having a late lunch during which copious amounts of wine were drunk!

Sounds good to me. So far i have decorated all day - but ive given up now. Mr.B went to give the landlords son a driving lesson, but due to the bank holiday rush he couldnt get away, but he gave Mr.B £20 anyway as he turned up for no reason, which i thought was nice.

msgirl 17-04-2006, 03:35 AM I finished some of the MajorGenerals projects today, piddled around till around 1:00 p.m., got a shower and got dressed, went to the daycare and worked on MY NEW PERMANENT CLASSROOM!!:yahoo: Msboy #1 very politely and adamantly asked to come help me for a little while. Nice bonding time for us as he's been a little stressed and hormonal and moody and so have I. I was very proud he helped his mommy!! After he helped me with the major move outs and arounds, he left and I got down to brass tacks!! It's been so long since I've had my own classroom that I've been so excited to decorate it and do my learning centers and set up shop!! I'll have to post a pic!! I worked for about 5 hours as the other girl was a hoarder and slob and had not the experience of Mrs. Daycare Director/Teacher extroidenaire!!:w00t:
Today is my last day of freedom before I go back to work - so I'm doing as little as possible!
Bonsai 17-04-2006, 09:12 AM I got up and took the dog on an early morning run. It was beautiful outside and sooooo warm and sunny. I walked around in a vest top in the vein hope of getting a tan :wink2:

We have done an odd shift behind the bar, so we know our way around, but its still blummin nerve wracking because i just KNOW that something will go wrong.
So we do the lunchtime shift starting at midday till about 3:30pm. We then come home for a few hours - and we open up again at 6:30pm tonight until about midnight.
So it will be a long day, but a different one.

Hello Maxine,
You should have yourself measured for a bra, that way you get one that fits and supports you properly.
I have been buying and wearing 38C's for years, but of late noticed that they seemed to popping over a bit in some of my bras but not others. Before going on a diet some 7 weeks ago they were also trying to get out of the bottom a bit. Manufacturers are horrendous in this region, when they should be following some standardisation they don't.
So I thought it was time to get measured. I was surprised when I was measured and told I was buying bras to small. I should be buying 40D's or 40E's. I can't understand it, I have actually lost weight but my t's look bigger. Mr M has accused me of having implants and not telling anyone. I just brushed this off with it must be all the breathing exercises, singing and the weights I have been shifting in the gym, that is responsible for my shape.
So the Gym is also a great help.
Hope you find something that fits soon.
BTW those jam tarts sound lovely.

Also today, I have done the shopping, 2 loads of washing, taken and soon to collect youngest from friend's house. Look at me being a traditional mother and everything!
Fee For All 10-09-2006, 06:45 PM I stayed in bed till 2pm
Slept most of the morning, until lunchtime - but I did have an excuse - I was working overnight last night, and am working tonight.... had a friend over for dinner just before I came into work. Friend and fiance had plans to go to the pub for a pint, while I'm working :o(
Bonsai 11-09-2006, 06:11 AM I came down with a cold yesterday, so i just did a few jobs. Some washing, hoovered, general tidying etc .... I then went to the club next door and got drunk !!! I was in bed at 9:30pm feeling knackered.
Today i am back to work  Im really not looking forward to it as i dont feel remotely resting. I also dont know whats in store. Is my boss in all day ? Is my in-tray moaning under the strain of work ? I hope not as this cold has knocked me out a little.

Patsy you're just plain SCARING me!! Stop this before I have to organize an 'intervention'!!
Hubby and I just goofed off today...went to town and picked up some odds and ends and I got a copy made from a negative of a friend of mine that past away about 3 years ago, 'cause I'm doing a scrapbook of my SOUTHERN friends and my exploits over the months and years...even 'the Presidential Incident'...I have to get my FBI LETTER re-newed next year for my job...hope it goes through!! Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
(p.s. PATSY... someone told me you would e-mail me and tell me some important info...I'm on pins and needles, so quit ironing and being D@MN domestic and e-mail me, I'm worried about someone!!)

Today i have had a ****e day.
It started off badly. I took the rubbish out, and fell over !!! The pavement was slippery, although i dont know why and i went flying and scraped all my arm.
I then got to work to find that my colleague had decided on the spur of the moment |
