when you get older ?

Mine has. In my 20's i would go to bed around 10pm and wake up fresh as a daisy the next morning. I loved mornings, and would literally bounce out of bed and go to work.

But in the last few years things have changed. I now dont go to bed until about midnight (or if i go earlier i stay awake and watch TV) and in the mornings i feel completely hungover, even if a drop of alcohol hasnt touched these lips. It takes me until about 11am to wake up. I hate it.

Mr.B has changed too. He used to stay awake until 2-3am, and he would still wake up fresh. Now though he goes to bed about 10pm and wakes up feeling like the walking dead.

Is it an age thing ? Or is it changes in routine / life ?

How do the rest of you feel in the morning, and had your sleep pattern changed ?

My sleep pattern changed dramatically after I had the children! I had no idea that 6am in the morning actually existed until I had them!

I can't remember the last time I slept right through, I am always up at some point during the night.

Always slept right through with the sleep on the dead when I was younger, nodded off as soon as my head touched the pillow and didnt stir until the alarm went off the next morning, I even slept through the hurricane of the late eighties. My ex used to say I slept the sleep of someone with no conscience. Now I find it hard to drop off and when I do I wake in the middle of the night for no reason and toss and turn for hours. I suppose its an age thing.

I find I get up a lot earlier these days. Even at the weekend I only manage to lie in until about 9.00.

I usually go to bed at 10. It's pathetic really, but I'm knackered by then.

Bonnie?? In your 20's you used to go to bed at 10pm??

It was more like 2am for me in my 20's!

Now I go to bed around midnight, get up during the week at 7-7.30.
Weekends I get up about 8am or when I've had enough of the kids saying "mum are you getting up yet"

I don't drink as much alcohol now as I used to, thank god.
I tend to think that I wouldn't be able to cope the next day if I had any during the week.
But now Friday night, that's a different matter.:drinking:

Im afraid so. I was permanently tired. I used to pop those caffeine tablets is i was invited out anywhere so i didnt fall asleep at the table.

I'll never forget the Edinburgh meet we all enjoyed from here - and i actually nodded off over the meal ... it was sooooooooooooooo embarassing.

I reckon I'm sleeping less as I get older and I always didn't need much sleep - I keep waking up in the middle of the night now

My sleeping patterns have changed as I've got older, but also in line with other changes in my life. I sleep an average of 4/5 hours a night now, I used to sleep 7 or 8 hours. Occassionally when I have had a run of late nights say 5, on the 6th day I will be tired in the afternoon and during my breaks will switch off from work and just relax.

I sleep much better now than i used to in my 20s. I was out gigging every night of the week and used to come home from work, sleep for a couple of hours, go out, get home about 1.00, sleep then get up for work at 6!

Can't believe I did that for 5 years!

Now I go to bed about 11 and get up about 8, when the small people start, but that'll soon change to 6.-00 once I go back to work.

I no longer know what a normal sleep pattern is... Well not for a long while anyway...Ahh the joys of shift work!

Before I started this job I was always more of a night owl but at the same time have always needed a good 8-10 hours sleep in order to wake up fully refreshed. I do find my self waking earlier on my days off these days than I used to (around 8.30am...although I don't really wake up til 10!) and then feeling very sleepy by 10pm! I'm sure I used to have much more energy...

I am not sure ...

I have always needed tons of sleep, I rarely go to bed after 11, and generally only if I have had a drink. Infact my latest is about 10pm and when it gets to that time I start to panic that I won't get enough sleep.

When I was younger I would go to bed early and not worry that I was going to bed early, now that I am early I still go to bed early but worry that I am a freak cos everyone else my age goes so much later and copes!!
