I know there is a thread somewhere but I can't find it.
Some peeps were saying they are not enjoying the Games but I am loving them!!
The swimming is just fantastic, especially the guys........and no, not for thatreason before anyone says anything. Austrailia still to win their first gold in the men's section although they are powering away with most of the women's. Fab result for Scotland with Gold & Silver, and wasn't the relay brilliant with England just taking the gold. It has been thrilling!
Really enjoyed the cycling and we have scooped a good few medals there too and it was exciting with the team pursuit England/Scotland showdown with Scotland just piping England for the gold.
If all our medals were put together as a nation we would giving the Aussies a run for their money.
Well Done to the Home Nations, it does make you proud to be British!
Notice that England's anthem is Land of Hope & Glory and Scotland's is Scotland the Brave.........although I can't help singing the words of the rude version that I learnt at school!

It was the cycling, the one where there were loads of cyclists Scotland got a bronze in that one too!
Glasgow are bidding to host 2014 Games, I am going to get my daughter into training now...........not decided what sport yet though! :pimp:
There appears to be a great team spirit between all the teams, which is great.
The good thing about the swimmers is that they are all quite young, so should still be around for the Olympics..........but then we have the Americans to contend with there! :( :evilmad:

That's exactly what I was doing in my head when it was on the other day :w00t:
Glad they're using this song though and not the dreadful "God save the queen"

Crit - Never understood it...always thought it was a long winded way to get from one end of the pool to the other myself!
Bella -thank-you - It seems that the pool and the cyling talents of England and Scotland are to be envied by other nations...the Aussies don't seem to be dominating the pool as much as they usually do!
I would train your daughted in synchronised swimming because then you can explain it to Crit and myself!
Peej - naughty boy...:kid:

Another good day for the home teams...although I'm not fully to speed on what we've won but I know it was quite a haul again!

Dean Macey is on track for a medal, so fingers crossed.
The home teams done well in the swimming again with the two Scottish swimmers earning the 2nd gold medals! Not sure where else the medals were won but I know we didn't do well in the 100m.

These Commonwealth games have been a load of cobblers and I wish folk would stop pretending otherwise. Fine if you are in them or a relative but as a spectacle?
come off it

come off what exactly?
Some of us are genuinely proud of our athletes and they have done fantastic.
I am defintely not one of those who are pretending or otherwise and if you can't give a bit of praise where it is deserved I think you are the one who should come off of whatever high horse you are on!

I have to say I am proud as punch for the performance of all our athletes this year...what a medal haul for all and as always it lived up to it's other name of 'The Freindly Games' - such a great feel about the whole event...
Congratulations to all who went and did their thing! :yahoo:

I think we done rather well and it was great to see the banter between the home nations.
I was delighted for Scotland as it is one of our best Commonwealth Games for a long time.
Although I did read an article on Saturday, it went back to when Allan Wells was competing. It compared the athletics haul of medal in 1982 to the Melbourne one and what a difference. In 1982, Scotland received something like 15 or so medals within athletics and in Melbourne we only received 2. We done well in the swimming but something obviously needs to be done for the athletic field.
The only downside for me was the disqualification of the English women's 4 x 400 team, it seemed rather unfair and Darren Campbell's rant (he is such an ar8ehole). The men 4 x100 was hugely disappointing, after their triumph in Athens it really was theirs for the taking but their baton confusion let them down yet again!
On the whole though - WELL DONE!
